Avatar n tn She is now taking lovenox injections to see if this prevents further clots because 1 platelet count came back slightly elebvated and it should have been zero (it was 288).. 1) Have you ever heard of lovenox injections to prevent further clots in stents and 2) what are the risks from lovenox to her relatively healthy kidneys (after 30+ yrs of diabetes)? Thank you for your good advice. You were the only Dr. who said E.R.
Avatar n tn I recently had my blood test and the results show 113000 platelet count. Would this be a cause for concern regarding HIV or Aids?
360318 tn?1340393363 Doctor can you tell me that blood count , Crp, Platelet count and lymphosite count does it affect on a person having hiv.
Avatar f tn When they faxed me the results instead of the platelet count it said See Note*. I emailed my doc and she responded and told me no count was available. I asked if this was a lab error and she said no that she would explain everything to me when I come in the office Wednesday morning. I was just curious if any of you have had this happen before and what it could mean. Are they really, really low?
Avatar n tn For low platelet count, vet said to come back in a week and test again. I am worried that we should not wait. Would a platelet count be that low and then suddenly go back to normal in a week? Blood test in November showed normal platelets. Could an ulcer bleeding cause this? There is no evidence of blood in stool, either red or black. Please give me your thoughts on this? I am SO worried.

Avatar m tn Is there any relation between high SGPT annd alsod low platelet count? And also I consume less quantity of water and less fruits.
Avatar m tn s job is to determine what the underlying condition or illness causing your platelet count to be so low. A low platelet count is an indication that something else is wrong. Start by seeing your family doctor or a general practitioner. If your doctor is unable to find the cause that your doctor should refer you to see a doctor who treats blood diseases (Hematologist). There are tests that a doctor can perform that can determine the cause of your low platelet count. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn My 7 year old male boxer has an extemely low platelet count. We adopted him from a rescue group in Dec 2006. He had a mass cell tumor on his side and I had it removed in July 2007. The tests revealed it was a grade II. At the time of his surgery, his platelet count was 27. He has been fine since his surgery. (Active-loves to play.) I took him for his annual checkup in Jan 2008 and blood work was done to check his platelet count. It was a 12.
Avatar m tn Question. Someone has a very low platelet level. I understand the low in of normal to be 150,000. What level is considered to be dangerous and requires an infusion? In other words, how low would a doctor allow those levels to get before giving the person platelets or whole blood? Thank you.

Avatar f tn My doc office called and said that my blood platelet count was low and that I needed to come back in two weeks to get it checked again. Has this happen to anyone else during pregnancy? What is your experience with this?
Avatar f tn Anyone here been told their platelet count is low? I guess normal is 150 and mine was at 133 and still dropping. Nervous as can be since I've never heard of it before and don't know how dangerous it is.
Avatar m tn Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura - ITP - is an autoimmune disease causing a low platelet count. One of the symptoms is excessive bruising. This condition is unrelated to MS.

Avatar f tn Im 28 weeks, for the last couple of months i've had my blood checked on several occasions and my platelet count is continuing to drop. I've been tld that when its time for delivery I wont be able to get a epidural and will have to delivery my baby natural. Has anyone experienced or know of anyone that has? I'd like to hear about it. Thanks!!!
Avatar n tn ve never received an answer as to why my platelet count is always low...but am now experiencing a myriad of neurological symptoms that my previous neuro had thought resembled primary progressive MS. I'd suggest that 'danger' in the case of a low platelet count would be indicated by any excess bleeding....gums, menstrual, cuts that continue to bleed, etc.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies! I have a low platelet count at 36 weeks, of 140. Anyone else? Or anyone had similar results before?
Avatar f tn I do not recall his Hep C status - whether he treated and cleared - but a low platelet count like his is often associated with cirrhosis. 23,000 is a pretty low count and though I have seen liver transplant recipients with borderline platelet counts due to, what I assume are, some bone marrow suppression issues 23,000 is too low. I would see his transplant team or a hepatologist knowledgeable about transplant issues.
Avatar m tn I am assuming you had a liver biopsy and are somewhere near Stage 4 fibrosis? Cirrhosis? A low platelet count in a symptom of cirrhosis caused by an enlarged Spleen (Spleenomeglia) which captures the platelets are causing them to die. At the present time clinical trials are being conducted on a drug that will raise platelet counts. It is not on the market at this time. Each person responds differently to treatment based on many factors including the degree of liver damage.
