Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox and injection sites

lovenox

Avatar f tn I am currently 25 weeks and have been on Lovenox since week 6. I have a blood clotting problem. I will have a csection at 36 weeks but that is due to other health problems. I will have to have those stupid leg vacuun things while in hospital to keep circulation. I hate those things very loud and you can't move. Plus will have to continue Lovenox for 8 weeks after birth.
645220 tn?1233764146 Hi I just did my first lovenox injection and think I might not be doing it right. I really had to push very hard for the needle to go in then it stopped about a third of the way and I had to jam it in the rest of the way. does this sound right? I have plenty of fat so it's not as if I got held up on muscle or anything.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else experiencing this. I think I really need some more injection sites to use besides the abdomen and the upper legs.

178698 tn?1228774338 If so...please advise. I am currently having to give myself injections in my belly and it is really starting to hurt, not to mention my belly is all bruised up and looks awful. I am aobut 7 weeks along and I don't know if I can take it much longer. Can anyone recommend other sites for the injection besides the belly or the belly the only place?????

Avatar m tn The last time I had Lovenox was one year ago and I was at 2.6 when I started the Lovenox. At that time I quit taking coumadin until after the procedure. The day after the procedure, I started up on coumadin and continued to taking the Lovenox until I was therapeutic again (between 2-3 INR). You stated that you were worried about the AFib. I assume you were referring to AFib while you are off coumadin and on Lovenox. I wouldn't worry about that.
Avatar f tn I was just recently on lovenox and I did my injections in my legs. I have to tell you the pain was not as bad as doing it in my stomach but I did end up with a lot of bruises. I am now on fragmen shots and I do them in my stomach cause my legs have not healed yet.Btw if you were wondering they took me off my lovenox at 37 weeks but I had trouble getting my insurance to pay for the fragmen so I didnt start it until I was 38 weeks and I had my baby after only being on it for 3 days.
873190 tn?1304812975 Yet, this is the only pregnancy that continued past the first trimester and this time I was on Lovenox from day 1. The last two times, they wanted to wait and see a heartbeat before starting the blood thinners. I'm now 31 weeks and will continue Lovenox until I get a little closer to delivery, then switch to heparin, since it has a shorter half life and they don't want you to be on blood thinners the day of delivery.
Avatar f tn I was on lovenox for a short period of time. I could not find a spot for the injection that didn't make me cry. I'm sorry you are going through this.hopefully they can switch you to the heparin by mouth instead. They told me that they normally keep ppl on the lovenox until wk 37 b.c it's longer acting and then the heparin after that b.c it's out of your system faster and is safer foe delivery bit maybe you can get switched earlier? Good luck!
Avatar f tn just started me on Lovenox, I got one + hpt, still waiting on beta confirmation, but anyway, just gave myself an injection of Lovenox and now I am feeling a little light headed. Is this normal? What are some of the side effects I can expect?
Avatar m tn It doesn't hurt at all. It's a tiny needle, and the injection is subcutaneous. You Can also inject in your thigh. You need some fat to inject into. It comes with explicit directions. I went to my PCP the first time and the nurse dialed me in.
Avatar f tn I stuck with it though and as time passed the sites have become equally useable (although arms, legs, abdomen and hips still all vary in the way they receive the medication). I stick to the autoinjector as it works well for me to insure consistent injection depth and delivery. It has a harsh sound but delivers fine. Don't forget to massage sites after 24 hours. It seems to be the technique most often left out by injection coaches.
Avatar m tn lets try this, do i have to alterante? or can i do the legs and stomach and forget the back of the arms and hips? damn that was hard to get out. i'm going to bed. nerve pain has me in a bad mood or something.
Avatar f tn wondering if anyone knows what the alternative injection sites are. I am on daily shots of copaxone, and I cannot reach the back hip area with the way my hands are - which is lousy.
593530 tn?1263847957 hi im starting lovenox today is it painful? and can you take the shot anywhere other then the stomach like your thighs or buttocks?
422823 tn?1229736847 Do any of you ladies that take lovenox or heparin injections in your tummy have some hideous bruises? Yesterday I started Lovenox, and my bruise is nasty looking, it is small but definatly bruised and quite sore. Do any of you experience this?? I am thinking that doing this every night in a different place on my belly I am going to have a nasty looking stomach. : ) But, I couldnt be happier to have it, I would do anything for this baby!
270512 tn?1333177636 just out of curiosity.... anyone use Lovenox with their ivf/fet cycle? And if so, when did you start the injections? My ER wants me to start the injections around O date (we are doing FET cycle). My question is.... wouldn't it be better to start sooner??? Wouldn't blood clots have already formed in the uterine lining by then? Or does the lining start to grow around O date? (I know I know... you would think I would know that part being a 4th time IVF/FET patient...
Avatar f tn I had a scheduled induction with my first and they had me stop the Lovenox 2 days before to avoid any excessive bleeding. We will have a scheduled induction again with this one. However I'm on a lower dose than you are and my clotting issue is estrogen related... I only need to take the injections for 6 weeks after the baby is born. I've never found the injection pain that bad...
415867 tn?1323365503 The doc said that he suspected blood clots and that he was going to give me an injection of Lovenox and anticoagulant and have me go to the vasuclar lab this morning for a work up. the leg pain is horrible its so hard to walk and with being an OR nurse it's impossible to work. so i went today to get the vascular study done and it came back normal...i was thankful but fustrated b/c i don't know what's causing it.
1524811 tn?1333241301 I was recently diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism after being rushed into L&D unable to breathe. I was prescribed Lovenox by injection twice daily. The prescribing DR knows I'm now 34 weeks pregnant, but when I read the drug disclosure inside the box it states clearly NOT TO BE USED DURING PREGNANCY, CAN CAUSE GASPING SYNDROME & FETAL DEATH.
Avatar f tn I’m still experiencing pain in both these injection sites. It’s significant pain and feels like a knot remains on both sites as well. Just wondering if there’s some “disorder” that may cause this. I know it’s not normal based on previous injections without residual pain. Thanks!
Avatar n tn What I did was stop the Coumadin 5 days before, and then 4 days before started Lovenox to bridge up until the surgery (Lovenox is a subcutaneous injection and is a Low Molecular Weight Heparin that will keep the blot thin enough to prevent clotting). The night of the day of the procedure I had, I restarted the Coumadin, and the following day after the surgery used Lovenox for 2 days giving the Coumadin time to begin building back up again.
Avatar n tn The concern is bleeding at the catheter entry sites and in my case I waited a short time in the recovery room while the Haparin dissipated before the catheters were pulled. My doctor (EP) provided a very specific schedule of when to stop Metoprol and Rythmol and your father should also have received this information. It may be worth checking with the doctor if there is any question.
