Lovenox and factor v leiden

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox and factor v leiden

lovenox

Avatar n tn I have been diagnosis ed with Factor V Leiden, my 6yr old son has MTHFR C677T and A1298C.......my youngest son (4 yrs) has just been put on medication for migraines. I saw an article online about the connection between these mutations and juvenile migraines....can you tell me if I need to let the neurologist know and what if any is there a risk if he does share a combo of these conditions?
Avatar n tn in fact, most people who have heterozygous factor V Leiden never develop blood clots. Homozygous factor V Leiden increases the risk of developing clots to a greater degree, about 25- to 50-fold. If you have the heterozygous form of factor V Leiden, the lifetime risk of developing a DVT is 10% or less, but may be higher if you have close family members who have had a DVT.
598654 tn?1330217159 I am 23 years old and have had 2 successful pregnancies all the while knowing I had Factor 5 Leiden. I of course was considered high risk with both, but there are precautions to take. With both of my pregnancies, I had to give myself shots 2 times a day of Lovenox (a blood thinner, stronger than heparin) and my blood thickness was closely monitored (blood draw a few times a week until the dosage was right).
286207 tn?1249282027 t worry too much I have been told i will have to do the same thing once I get pregnant again. I lost my daughter at 36 weeks and found out I have factor V leiden and that this regimen works really well for those of us with clotting issues. I signed up for the factor V leiden pregnancy support group and through this have read about numerous sucessful pregnancies after being on baby aspirin and lovenox.
Avatar f tn I'm trying to research this and help get it figured out, but something you said confused me. From this site: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/factorv.htm it indicates that a Factor V deficiency would result in someone being more likely to bleed badly, not clot. It's Factor V Leiden that would make someone more likely to suffer thrombosis. And on this site: http://www.fvleiden.org/ask/35.
1227139 tn?1462334630 While C677T is one of the two common MTHFR variants it is the most problematic of the variants because of its relationship to clotting and the blood disorder Antiphospholipid syndrome (Factor V Leiden). I was tested recently and was diagnosed with one copy of the variant C677T and I am currently being tested for Factor V Leiden. The other common variant is called A1298C. There are 24 known variants so far discovered in all.
Avatar n tn I have factor V leiden and I recently had a son. If you believe there is any chance that you have it you need to get tested. I was considered high risk because of this and my specialist told me to take a baby asprin once a day to stop the clotting.
873190 tn?1304812975 Hi girls. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on Lovenox? My RE is putting me on it with this next positive pregnancy. We just ran another series of blood tests and one came back positive for blood clotting. He said this particular type of clot would is associated with second or third trimester losses, whereas all four of my mc have been around five weeks. But he said it is reason enough to do Lovenox. I don't know how long I would have to take it.
Avatar m tn After knowing that, my mother and me took this blood test and been both found positive (I’m a homozygous Factor V Leiden).
317019 tn?1532965586 They'll probably check for blood clotting disorders. I have Factor V Leiden, which increases my risk for clotting...especially in pregnancy. And from what I've read, it's mostly an issue in the second and third trimester (I'll have to take Lovenox injections). And it does take a long time to get all the results. I had mine done before I was TTC after my cousin had a deep vein thrombosis and was diagnosed with FVL. Our dads are twins, so it turned out I have it too.
Avatar f tn This is my first pregnancy, had to use Clomid to help get pregnant and I am on lovenox shots to do a factor 5 leiden mutation. Called my doctor and she said not to worry unless it becomes heavy bleeding with cramping. I'm still scared. We having been trying for a baby for so long. Anyone else go through this?
Avatar m tn i had a choice of lovenox or heparin and chose heparin...i was diagnosed with factor v leiden which is a blood clotting disease...preg increases my risk of DVT's big time so my doc took no chances...both lovenox and heparin will not harm the baby or the doc wouldnt subscribe it to preg women who have blood clotting issues such as myself... i have a friend who i believe had MTHFR and all she did was take baby aspirin....
Avatar n tn Antithrombotic prophylaxis should be considered in selected women with factor V Leiden and unexplained pregnancy loss after an informed discussion of the risks and the data suggesting benefit [Kujovich 2005]. The evolving consensus in favor of prophylactic anticoagulation is reflected by the recent recommendations of the Seventh American College of Chest Physicians' Conference (ACCP) on antithrombotic therapy [Bates et al 2004].
Avatar f tn Long story, but felt I needed some help with this.
803938 tn?1403748253 I have both Factor V Leiden and MTHFR. for this pregnancy I have been on Lovenox from the moment they saw a heartbeat about 5.5-6 weeks on which was a bit early for heartbeat if i remember correctly. A baby aspirin from the beginning and of course the extra folic acid. They did not switch me to heparin until recently . Currently I am at 37 weeks and touch wood have not had any of the devastating complications of my previous pregnancies so far.
Avatar f tn i know i had a chromosome analysis done on me and my husband, both were normal and i had the factor v leiden test which was negative. do you know if factor v leiden is the same thing as mthfr? i asked my maternal fetal specialist if there were anymore genetic tests they could do on me, they told me they did everything they could and that factor v leiden is just another name for mthfr. i wasn't sure if this was true.. because they kind of seemed like they just didn't want to help me.
674725 tn?1367439630 I can TOTALLY relate to the crazy mind games! As for Factor V (full name is Factor V Leiden), it's a blood clotting disorder that affects the way the blood coagulates. It's inherited, and I would have never known about it had it not been for my cousin having a deep vein thrombosis a few years back (her dad and my dad are identical twins). I've been on baby aspirin since my first miscarriage, every day, and now that I'm pregnant, I'm on Lovenox.
Avatar n tn ve had 4 previous pregnancy losses and an ectopic. I was recently diagnosed with Factor V Leiden. I am taking progesterone suppositories 200mg, lovenox 40mg, baby aspirin, metformin (for PCOS), and vitamins. Thanks for any info that you can give me.
429949 tn?1224691579 As some of you know, I went to the hematologist to get checked for clotting disorders to make sure that stroke was completely ruled out two weeks ago. I was not supposed to go back for the results until May 7th. Stupidly I called the office today to see if they had came back yet. The nurse called me back and said that they had. She also said that I tested possitive for two of the test.
Avatar f tn form of folic acid, and better used by people like me hetero c677t and my daughters who are both homo c677t (and Factor V Leiden). The following paragraph is copy and pasted from the mthfr.net website: Here are the common recommendations for supporting those with C677T MTHFR mutations: Limit ingestion of folic acid in fortified foods as you cannot process folic acid well. Limit or cease taking supplements or drugs with folic acid in them. Talk with your doctor before stopping.
1299014 tn?1273247877 I also have Factor V Leiden (heterozygote), and I had two miscarriages before I had a successful IVF. The first miscarriage, I wasn't on any blood thinners and went to 8 weeks, when the embryo stopped developing and I had to have a D&C. The second time I got pregnant, I was already on baby aspirin and I was suppose to start Lovenox shots once a heartbeat was detected. Well I started spotting the day of my 6 week appointment, and was cramping by the time I got to the doctor.
645220 tn?1233764146 I crossing fingers for us all I have to take the lovenox because after I lost Perdita they did some genetic testing and found out I have the factor V leiden mutation I also have to take a baby aspirin everyday..
Avatar f tn i have coagulation defects. factor v leiden and prothrombin gene mutation. i have been told by my hemotologist not to fly. but you are correct, you do need to check with your doctor. do you still have the clots? i just recently found out that the clot in my leg is still there and has recannilized. thanks.
501022 tn?1249335669 I'm sorry for your losses. You've come to the right place for support and understanding. Like melo I'm also not sure about Factor V Leiden. Is it something that can prevent you from carrying full term? I know that at times we become discouraged but thats when we need to pull from our inner strength. I had my third loss in Oct. and I'm now 41 and sometimes feel like time is running out. I wish you the best and hope that we can help you through this difficult time.
Avatar n tn I'm another volunteer here & found this site with information on your Factor V Leiden (and a completely different condition called Factor V Leiden deficiency). If you haven't seen this site before, I perhaps it will be helpful for you. http://www.fvleiden.
