Lovenox and dvt

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox and dvt

lovenox

Avatar m tn he has been on coumadin since initial diagnosis and also his doctor put him on lovenox shots for ten days. The lovenox was also given short term when he was diagnosed. There was another ultrasound done when he injured his leg and now they are not sure if he developed another clot or if this is the same clot.
Avatar n tn I would like to have another child, how significant are the risks to my health during a pregnancy and delivery. Will coumadin hurt the fetus and if so are there alternatives during the pregnancy.
178698 tn?1228774338 This is my second time with lovenox shots. The first was just to start the thinning process then I was able to take warfarin. They never diagnosed my first DVT, I was told it was a fluke. I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and have a second DVT. After testing I have Factor V Leiden and take 2x daily shots of 100mg lovenox. I already have had 3 natural pregnancies so this one surprised me.
Avatar n tn my husband is 51 years old and has had by-pass surgery, and has a mechanical valve and is having sever side effects from the coumadin. We need a safe alternative for coumadin without compromising his health. We are looking for a doctor to help support this transition. We reside in PA. and hope to find a medical doctor that will monitor this change, what is your opinion?
Avatar f tn Okay so I am 37+4 and I have been on Heparin for a little over a week now and was on lovenox since I found out I was pregnant due to a DVT I had back in June of 2012 after gallbladder surgery. My question is can I request to be induced? Its been stressful and I'm worried about going into labor naturally and not being able to have an epidural or having complications due to having to be on this medication. Does anyone think I would be able to be induced because of this risk factor?
Avatar n tn Hi, I was diagnosed a week and a half ago with a chronic DVT. I had an ultrasound. The technologist let me see it. I have good blood flo around it. My GP is treating it with coumadin. He thinks it was there in Feb. when I had an ultra sound. At that time, I was told there was no clot. The end of March, I had trauma to my ankle. The pain went away but the swelling didn't. My leg swelled again and didn't go down.
Avatar m tn The ER drew some blood when I initially went in with DVT symptoms and I was told a week later that I have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome and that's what supposedly caused my clot. How exactly will my body dissolve the clot if I have APS (antiphospholipid antibody syndrome)? With APS I am more prone to clot. If the Coumadin prevents the clot from getting bigger and prevents more clots from forming what will make the clot dissolve?
16702 tn?1234090645 Has anyone been told by their Onc that cancer patients are vulnerable to Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (aka Economy Class Syndrome). My right leg swoll up for 3 days so rushed to hospital and after an ultrasound of the leg, was told that I have DVT. Been getting daily shots of Innohep to dissolve the clot and have to wear a thigh high Ted Hose.
Avatar n tn Should I even consider going through another pregnancy and what is the reality of my health issues and the health and risks of the unborn child that could arise ? 3. Should I continue the 5mg a day on Coumadin since this is my 1st occurance and taking into consideration my family history of no clots (also in getting a doppler reading a week ago the clot is still there but is diminishing slowly)? or should i continue until clot is completely gone?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with lupus anticoagulant blood disorder. I have a leg full of clots that won't break up and go away. They have been treated for 3 years with warfarin, lovenox and cumadin. All to no avail. My gp doctor doesn't seem to have the knack to getting the INR levels stable. I've been at levels of 6 and 6.5 many times leading to ER transfusions. Last week it was 1.1 I'm worried because the symptoms are so much worse lately.
Avatar f tn When I first had the DVT I was on Lovenox shots, so maybe there is a difference and maybe this is what he wants to be me on. I am just so worried about bleeding during and after the surgery, so much so that I've been having the dry heaves!
Avatar n tn Every scan that has been run reveal no DVT. I have been placed on Lovenox indefinitely and had an IVC filter put in (even though they are not sure where the emboli are coming from). Are there any other tests I can inquire about? Is it common to have a PE with no evidence of a DVT? Am I realisticly looking at Lovenox for the rest of my life? I am a 32 year old male with no prior history and according to the doctors in good health.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if there is any correlation between a blood clot and hypothyroid/synthroid? i haven't found anything online. I know some people get DVT, pulmonary embolism from Birth Control and i know that thyroid/synthroid stuff is hormone related but is there any significance or anything documented about hypothyroid/synthroid etc.. and pulmonary embolism? I can't find a reason why this happened to me. I had a PE a few weeks ago with no DVT and docs can't find a reason for it??
Avatar f tn ) I was diagnosed with MTHFR homozygous mutation with elevated homocysteine levels when I had a blood clot (DVT) last year. My husband and I are currently trying to conceive our first child. I also have PCOS and was not ovulating on my own. I am on my second cycle of Clomid and have ovulated both cycles. Yay! It's too early to tell if the 2nd cycle worked - I'm on cycle day 22. My OB had me see a cardiologist before we began TTC due to my DVT.
507875 tn?1423160261 I am being sent to a high risk doc because I have a fibroid that is my doc said my keep me from delivering vaginally, but I am going to remain prayerful that all will be okay when that time comes around!!! ALso, I have to start Lovenox injections again because I have DVT (blood clot) in my right leg...it is laying dormant now and doesn't bother me but he wants to cross every "t" and dot every "I" to make sure things will continue to go smoothly!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!
873190 tn?1304812975 Yet, this is the only pregnancy that continued past the first trimester and this time I was on Lovenox from day 1. The last two times, they wanted to wait and see a heartbeat before starting the blood thinners. I'm now 31 weeks and will continue Lovenox until I get a little closer to delivery, then switch to heparin, since it has a shorter half life and they don't want you to be on blood thinners the day of delivery.
374593 tn?1257879950 My last cycle was a BFP but I miscarried at 8 1/2 weeks (no fetal pole, no heart beat). I have a DVT (recurring blood clot) in my left leg and am sometimes placed on Lovenox to help thin my blood. When I am taking aspirin, I don't have to take the Lovenox...Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn According to my Dr. many women with Ovarian Cancer develop bloot clots. Be glad she is not on Lovenox and having to give herself shots in her tummy daily. For 4 shots, it is $1200, not covered by my insurance. I was in bed so much after Doxil also and should have been wearing the compression socks to prevent blood clots. I have not been on hormone therapy. I am on the shots and Coumadin (Warfarin).
330481 tn?1309488243 anyone started the lovenox FIRST before even starting stims or is it usually after confirmed pregnancy? ohhhh, and how expensive is it? Thanks girls and SOOOO glad to be back :) HUGS and SSBD!
Avatar f tn Is anyone dealing with malignant lymph nodes in the neck and / or a deep vein thrombosis (DVT)? I have a DVT in the left subclavian vein below the clavicle and numerous lymph nodes right above it are confirmed malignant. I had been on Taxol for 8 months (and I'm nearly losing all of my fingernails from it!) and last week I started Topotecan. Has anyone had lymph nodes surgically removed during recurrent ovarian? My doctor has not suggested it and I intend to ask.
Avatar f tn I went to the er again, they kept me overnight and said they could feel something going on which was a sign of a clot. I was given a shot of lovenox as my inr had gone down and then in the morning ultrasound was done. That was negative but I'm sure I had something going on in that leg too. When I discussed it all with my hematologist later(he was the one to tell me to go to the er with my symptoms) he said he thought all the clots were there originally from my first hospitalization for dka.
Avatar n tn On 12/1 I had a complete metabolic profile drawn for a routine endocrinology follow up and LFTs then were ALT 17 and AST 18. The Sectral and Lovenox were initiated before my preop labs on 1/29, which showed LFTs elevated (ALT 120, AST 59). I am concerned that the Sectral has been toxic to my liver and want to stop the medication now. I will be having labs repeated on 2/13, and will see the gastroenterologist again on 1/21.
Avatar n tn As far as I know lovenox is no reason to perform a c section. If you are unsure, then please ask your Dr. why he/she wants to deliver you this way. Your wishes do count and it's important you feel comfortable and confident in how the actual delivery takes place.
Avatar f tn t argue or comment on your doctors opinion on the necessity of taking it while also on Lovenox and I definitely agree that Lovenox and Folgard are MUCH more important rather then just the aspirin, but if he is of the opinion that they do two different things and you are not taking the aspirin to cover off the missing 12 hours, according to my hematologist, taking only one dose of Lovenox per day wasn't covering me off all day (which is where I obtained the information that it is short lived
Avatar f tn I am currently 25 weeks and have been on Lovenox since week 6. I have a blood clotting problem. I will have a csection at 36 weeks but that is due to other health problems. I will have to have those stupid leg vacuun things while in hospital to keep circulation. I hate those things very loud and you can't move. Plus will have to continue Lovenox for 8 weeks after birth.
Avatar f tn It was not painful, just felt heavy. I thought it might be a DVT. It was late and I had no desire to go to the ER, so I took 2 aspirin and went to bed. The next morning, the swelling was gone, but I went to see my GP anyway. She sent me for an ultrasound, which showed nothing. A blood test showed that I had Factor V Leiden (heterozygous). I continued to take aspirin for two weeks and had no recurrence to date, despite several very long distance flights.
287479 tn?1272730364 Turns out I have a bloody clotting disorder. I got pregnant again (and started the Lovenox injections) and everything was going well until last week. I began having spotting. My hcg was increasing, but my progesterone dropped quickly and I lost the baby. My husband and I are giving this one more shot. My doctor wants to start me on Clomid next month, along with one baby aspirin a day and and folic acid until I get pregnant.
