Avatar f tn I've been taking Lovastatin for 2 months. For the past couple of weeks I've been experiencing aching kidneys and I'm very tired. I had blood work done today for follow up of the drug and notified the doctor that I had this problem. My body temperature is 96.8, which I realize is a bit low, but perhaps normal? Could the achiness be due to the Lovastatin? I'm quite concerned about this and have had kidney problems as a child.
Avatar m tn After recent cath my doctor changed my medication from vytorin ,have taken vytorin for 5 years, to lovastatin. I did ask for a cheaper medicine and lovastatin was what he came with. I have no problems or side effects . My question is lovastatin less effective then other of the same and if not why is it not used often. My engineering background comes out if I d not have proper data.

1806721 tn?1554333407 In the past 6 months, besides rapid weight loss, I also experienced fatigue, weakness, cold feet, dizziness, sudden drop of blood pressure, increased thirst and trips to restroom, low grade fever on and off with left side abdominal pain. My doc thought I had UTI and ulcer b/c my urine/blood test show staph and h pylori infections. Two months ago, my fasting glucose was 92 (normsl). However, I also heard that you may still have high blood sugar even though the fasting level is normal.
Avatar m tn I'm currently taking Lovastatin and Lovaza for high triglycerides and low LDL levels due to a fatty liver. This past December I pulled a muscle in my back which turned into a muscle spasm. I was prescribed Diclofenac SO EC 50 mg, Skelaxin 800 mg, Tramadol HCL 50 mg. Two days after taking my medications I had a bad reaction with a 103 degree temperature.
599170 tn?1300973893 This is obviously complicated, so you might be best off seeing a holistic nutritionist. On the other hand, since I don't have the genetic ability to keep my mouth shut, here's some possibilities. First, if you're on Lipitor, you probably won't find an herbal program for you because most herbalists or naturopaths would be too afraid of lowering your cholesterol too much -- drugs are a whole lot stronger than natural remedies.
Avatar f tn The interaction has also been reported in patients receiving atorvastatin, lovastatin, or simvastatin with other potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitors such as azole antifungal agents, macrolide antibiotics, HIV protease inhibitors, and nefazodone. Clinically, high levels of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitory activity in plasma may be associated with an increased risk of musculoskeletal toxicity.
Avatar m tn Lisinopril and Carvedilol are blood pressure medications (lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, Carvedilol is a beta blocker) and should not have any effect on your lipid profile. Both are important medications for those who have suffered a heart attack and undergone stenting. In addition to these medications, you should be on some sort of lipid medication (a "statin" such as atorvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvasatin, lovastatin, etc).
Avatar m tn gov/pmc/articles/PMC2951407/ i didn t check the images on this article previously, fig 2 has very interesting data, it shows a decrease of hbsag to 60% by lovastatin i guess using the higest non toxic dose lovastatin decreases only hbsag (no effect on hbvdna) by decreasing cholesterol content of hbsag infectivity of hbv is impared by fusion interference

Avatar n tn However, for midazolam and triazolam, as well as for buspirone, impairment of CNS function was observed, and for the calcium channel blocker felodipine greater blood pressure lowering has been observed. In contrast to the increased levels of the other medications, the grapefruit juice interaction observed with theophylline and itraconazole was reduced plasma concentrations. The mechanism for this effect has not been determined.
Avatar n tn I am 69 and have a calcium score of over 2000. I am on lovastatin and my cholest is 177, hdl 58, ldl 103. I excersize for 45-1hr of light running and walking. 5'10' weighing 160lbs. Has anyone seen these high numbers?
446474 tn?1446347682 Will, though I don't know much about statins except how popular they are, I have heard they really have been a breakthrough for those with cardio issues. And as we know, heart disease is the number one killer for both men and women. Lucky for me my cardi tests have all indicated I am in perfect health as far as cardio sees it.
Avatar f tn I am a 68 year old woman and had to be put on blood pressure medication about 4 days ago, which has helped lower my BP. I also take the following meds: Prozac 40mg, Lovastatin 40mg. and xanax 0.5mg (when needed) but now I am taking more often because of how anxious I feel. I do my best to try & control my feelings, but I have been in this condition going on 3 months. Are there any stress relieving methods I can try?
Avatar f tn I'm having a very similar problem. I have seen a dermatologist and my family doctor. Neither has an answer. The dermatologist did a biopsy--came back as contact dermatitis. Also did blood work. My ANA came back positive, but the SED RATE was only 2(range is 0-40) which indicated no infection. The dermatologist said a positive ANA is not uncommon in people over 60 and may be a false positive. All other blood was normal. I am using CLOBETASOL for the itching and also OTC itch creams.
Avatar m tn I have been evaluated using emg, muscle biopsy, ekg and other blood work. My highest level was over 800. At one time, the concern was that the statin might be the problem. However, my ck has been in the 400-600 range even before taking statins. I am now on lovastatin--since 7 Jul--after stopping zorcor for 7 years. I do suffer from some neuropathy from a corpectomy, and some muscle weakness, I guess with age (70).
Avatar m tn Lipitor (atorvastatin), Lescol (fluvastatin), Mevacor (lovastatin), Altoprev (lovastatin extended-release), Livalo (pitavastatin), Pravachol (pravastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin), and Zocor (simvastatin). Avatar m tn this is an artcle showing hbsag secretion inibition by lovastatin, it was the natural type not the synth like lovastatin in red yeast rice it is an oold article and there has been no followup studies, today we have also the liposomes studies and simvastatin studies but again in vitro only.the only way to know how it works in vivo is try red yest rice or liposomes and measure hbsag because no drug makers are interested in making trials on this http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?
Avatar n tn Are you asking if there are any exercises which can cure high blood pressure?
Avatar f tn Everything was good except my blood pressure was high for the first time. They told me not to worry and im not. But just wondering how likely it could be that id get pre eclampsia. I only have three weeks to go so thought i was safe from that. Lol. What should i look out for or do till my next appointment?
Avatar f tn The benefits of BP meds could outweigh any risks of high blood pressure. I know that I will have to take BP meds when im pregnant. You should really consult your physician to see if this applies in your case. Aldomet is a BP med that is considered safe in pregnancy. I was on BP meds when I miscarried but had nothing to do with it. BP can be a serious problem in pregnancy and should not be ignored.
