Avatar n tn When focusing on weight loss instead of measuring on a scale try measuring yourself with a tape measure and see the inches come off. It is common the inches go first before the weight drops off. Next I would look at your diet, how many meals a day? Portion size? % of fat, carbs, protein consuming in a day approx? Do you et late at night? Are you eating to many calories for your body? How much sodium are you taking in as that can cause you to retain water?

4202320 tn?1366272200 Just to clarify - muscle isn't really "heavier" than fat...A pound is a pound, no matter what it's made of.... muscle is denser so a pound of muscle takes up less room than a pound of fat. Compare muscle with a rock and fat, with feathers........ You can have a relatively small rock that weighs a pound because its molecules are packed so densely, but think how big that pound of feathers is going to be because of all the "fluff".
Avatar f tn I also am working out 30-50 minutes about 5 times a week. i am not loosing weight at all. although i am loosing inches. i have actually lost about 9 inches around my body but only 5 lbs. I know that muscle replaces fat, but when i first started working out i gain 20 lbs of "muscle", i have also found that when i drink a good recommended amount of water, i will gain about 5 lbs and not loose it until i stop drinking water all together.

Avatar f tn If you are losing inches throughout, you are not really gaining...I know that sounds odd, but I am thinking that you are losing inches but gaining muscle. That old saying Muscle weighs more than fat, that's true. Also, if it's not muscle gain, it may just be water retention. That's the only explanations I have for now. I hope this helped at least a little.
Avatar m tn Are the calories you're counting within a reasonable limit? Maybe your current target is a bit high. Of those calories, how much are saturated fats? Maybe you're eating very few calories, but not necessarily of the best type. What type of exercise 30 minutes a day? Maybe you can stretch that to 45' - or if it's only cardio, throw in some weight training before that. Also: have you given it enough time?
Avatar m tn Third week lost 2lbs. I did Jenny Craig 9 years ago and had no issues losing weight in fact I was losing approx 2lbs per week and lost 40lb in 6months. So I can't help but feel discouraged because I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I follow the menu planned out for me during the week by Jenny Craig, and exercise religiously, what do you think is going on, why am i not losing as much as i would like?
Avatar f tn I eat about 1500-1700 and according to my HRI burn anywhere from 2,500-1,500(depending how many practices we have in a day). Even if I am off by even 500 cal I should be losing weight quicker then I am. Help?!

My pre-pregnant weight was 243 and now I am at 213...My stomach isn't losing weight its growing with the baby, but I'm losing weight ever where else. Is this normal or even safe. Avatar f tn I agree that you could be losing inches, but if you aren't losing inches, possibly, you aren't cutting calories enough. Have you calculated your daily calorie needs and are you staying within the allotment?
Avatar f tn Hi im 36 years old, weigh 62 kilos (136 pounds) and im 5 foot 2 inches, ive been using the Wii Fit plus for 3 weeks 1/2 hour of jogging and 1/2 doing step with weights for my arms every day, im eating healthy lots of fruit, smoothies and keeping to 1200 calories a day, i am an active person without excercise but have been keeping to my 1 hour a day and im not losing weight, infact my weight goes up and down by 2 pounds nearly everyday!
Avatar f tn Losing weight "fast" is not a good thing. You need to figure out how many pounds you want to lose, then calculate your calorie needs, and implement a diet and exercise program accordingly.

Avatar n tn As far as exercise, get some weights and do some weight training, or do some push-ups. Cardio is not necessary for losing weight. In fact, I believe that running too much can be bad for you. That's a whole other topic of conversation. Stick to high-intensity workouts for shorter periods & you'll be healthier. Also, remember that it's not what you do at the gym that makes you look/feel great, it's what you do at home in the kitchen that counts.
