Avatar n tn I'm trying to join the air force but I'm 10lbs over the limit. To lose weight I started doing 2 hours of cardio one in the morning one at night. At first I started losing but after 2 week I'm gaining what cardio should I do to lose weight without muscles?
Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
Avatar f tn I would recommend you add a weight lifting portion to your workouts and change up your cardio... the stair climber is the BEST machine for cardio in my opinion. Does your gym have classes? I would also recommend doing one or a couple in addition to your regular work outs. Muscle confusion is proven sucessfull in aiding people to lose weight. If you do the same thing everytime you are not challenging yourself.

Avatar m tn I weigh about 287lbs (my goal is approximately 215lbs mostly muscle) at the moment after losing about 25lbs last month. I do cardio 6 days a week for 45 mins each time. I alternate my cardio workouts between the elliptical, the treadmill, and I use the bike and stairmaster seldomly. I am noticing great weight loss with this routine. I also do a pretty decent ab workout (which is tough for a fat guy) one or two days a week. I have coupled this routine with an effective diet as well.
2053729 tn?1330435506 According to what I have researched, my BMR is 2485 and I eat about 1800 calories a day, so I should be losing weight just being me. Add in the approximate 2000 calories I burn with my exercise and I should be melting into a puddle! We do a lot of weights, pilates, abs, pushups, strength bands and squats at my aerobics class so I know my body is changing. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I have had my thyroid checked in the last 4 months and it was "normal".
Avatar n tn Exercise is a way of life that brings your body to good health while losing weight or mantaining weight. 1-2 lbs is a reasonable weight loss goal per week not much more. Remember 1 lbs of fat is 3500 calories so you will have to burn that much calories in order to lose just 1 lb of fat. Be patient is it happens slowly.
Avatar f tn Its good you've set a goal and are looking to find out how to achieve it! However losing 15 pounds in a month is unrealistic and unhealthy. Did you know it takes about a year for your body to adjust to losing 10 pounds? It's important to remember weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. In order to lose weight and keep it off, you shouldn't look at it as weight loss but a way to become healthier!
Avatar f tn t kill yourself) and no soda, alcohol or cigarette smoking. The key to losing weight (and keeping it off) is to never diet... diets don't last! Changing your life does! Remember, real changes don't happen over night, things on life worth having takes effort, dedication and time. Good luck!

Avatar f tn Workout is important but diet is more important, you should take a controlled diet and count your calories. Hope this will help you in losing weight.. You can also try diet supplements with your weight loss program..
Avatar f tn I suggest you to exercise. The easiest exercise is sports of course. You'll enjoy playing whilst losing weight. If you don't like sports, try cardio work-out. 30 minutes work out, 3 times per week. There are a lot of cardio workout in youtube that you can follow. The best one for me is FitnessBlender channel. They teach exercises whilst tracking how many calories you burn.
Avatar f tn vbriggs- First off, when you are doing strength training you can't really go by pounds, muscle weighs more than fat, and if you are doing strength training i guarantee you are gaining a significant amount of muscle. I would increase your cardio to a good level of intensity for 45 minutes atleast 3 to 5 times a week. Decrease your calories to 500 a day for the first 30 days and don't eat past 6pm. Then increase slowly but not more than 1500 a day (I stay under 1000) No soda.
Avatar n tn ve been working out for about a month now 5-6 days/week, 1.5-2 hours/day. I weight train for about 45 mins then cardio 60-80mins switching it up between the elliptical & the treadmill. I also keep a daily calorie journal and have been eating around 900 calories/day but thats total not net calories. Net calories total around 400-600/day depending how hard I work out that day. I stick to a strict diet of lean meat, whole wheats, vegetables and fat free dairy products.
Avatar n tn I started to lose weight at two pounds per week and I have hypothyroidism which makes losing weight pain staking. You should only go for losing two pounds a week and no more than that. You might need to up your exercise for more cardio type activity.
Avatar f tn There are two types of exercise--cardio and strength training. Cardio primarily utilizes the heart and lungs. Cardio is a key tool for weight loss due to its capability to burn calories. While you may also build muscle, it is minimal compared to strength training routines. Strength training exercises are performed to build muscle, but they also burn calories. Added muscle will shape and tone your body and may lead to a loss of inches before you see a weight loss reading on the scale.
Avatar f tn Do some cardio. Just go to YouTube or a fitness section in places like Walmart it target and look for cardio. In you tube you just type in "cardio exercises" and thousands of results. Cardio burns fat. But if you have any lose skin or flab also do toning exercises . And EAT HEALTHY! You don't have to stop eating bad foods all together. If you want you can ease your way into it. Replace sometime with e veggie in your meals. Or do what I do, make healthier decisions and if you do.
Avatar n tn Why do you want to be underweight? If you love sports you most likely have a lot of muscle mas making up your current underweight BMI. Get a fat percentage measurement done and you may find that you should actually worry more about properly nourishing and taking care of your body's needs than losing weight. Don't hurt yourself, and your body will continue to play sports. Underweight is not good. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/BMI/bmicalc.
Avatar f tn I certainly gained weight when I started lifting weights -- most of my life before that was spent playing sports or running that were mostly cardio, but weight lifting made me a bit broader. You can avoid that by focusing your weight training on areas you want to focus it on rather than on areas where you are naturally larger anyway, not that it will make you healthier but it might give you more the look you seem to be most concerned with.
