Common Questions and Answers about Lose weight diet vs exercise

weight

Dog Hi, I would look at diet to help lose weight and exercise to help tone your body. I recommend to others to get their weight under control before trying much more than walking so as to not stress your knees. Control your diet and as your weight drop slowly increase your physical activity. Remember to get a good overall work out as that will help overall toning and as your metabolic rate rises it will also help with losing weight. Good luck.
660974 tn?1248272668 Your overall diet sounds balanced and healthy, and your exercise regimen is impressive. You also have to consider the role that PCOS could be playing - this is definitely worth discussing with your doctor and also making sure you have excluded any other hormonal abnormalities (like hypothyroidism) that could be contributing. Also keep in mind that weight is a number - you can be healthy even with a higher weight/BMI that you would ideally like.
Avatar f tn Breastfeeding burns approximately 300-500 calories per day. Weight loss is about energy in vs. energy out. If you eat more than you burn you won't lose weight but if you eat a healthy diet and utilize reasonable portion control then the calories burned by breastfeeding will help with weight loss.
Avatar f tn but since then i have been continuously gaining weight. and the most disappointing fact is that whenever i do exercise i look more fat as if i have swelled. whatever i do to lose weight makes me more fat.
18524847 tn?1465595901 For me, I exercise til the cows come home but do not really affect my weight until I clean up my diet. I had a health instructor actually give a percentage . . .80 percent of our physique is the food we eat, rest is exercise. I'd say that is about right for me.
Avatar f tn This is something you would want to talk to your doctor about. It might not be a bad idea, but there may be a way that your doc would prefer. One thing thats safe and can kinda jump start things though is if you drink soda, cut down and replace it with water. It's amazing how many calories/sugar you get from soda and the pounds you can shed from either cutting down or just giving it up (i still enjoy a soda once in a while myself lol).
Avatar f tn Following the rights diet and exercising daily could make you lose weight. Instead, starving is not the solution to lose weight. So, make sure you stay patience, eat healthy, exercise daily, and avoid eating junk food. This is my advise, buddy.
Avatar f tn d suggest a low calories diet until you reach your perfect BMI) and exercise you will lose that weight. If you want to be back to normal by July then maybe you would need liquid diet or more exercise. Maybe you can reach your goal the way you are doing it right now... Who knows?
Avatar n tn That's not a lot to lose -- just eat less and exercise more. If you had a lot of weight to lose, a new diet would be necessary because your old one wasn't working, but again, that's a pretty small amount of weight.

Avatar f tn I do very strongly believe that the best way to lose weight is by implementing a sensible diet and exercise program that will allow you to make "lifestyle" changes; those are changes that you can keep up from now on. The problem with pills or any extreme means of losing weight, is that once you stop the pills/diet, etc, you will most likely gain back all the weight you lost, often gaining even more.
Avatar f tn Hello. I go through sort of the same struggle you do. I lost a ton of weight following the "Low GI" diet. Its Low Glycemic Index. The diet itself shouldn't really be called a diet because its really just all of the foods you should be eating anyway...but who am I to say that? The Low GI diet is great for people trying to stay away from getting Diabetes, and for people who have Diabetes. Google the diet to pull up all the foods.
667913 tn?1242700488 What tips do you have for eating to lose weight? Not the exercise - the eating. HELP I'm stuck.
Avatar f tn 20 lbs is too much to lose in 3 weeks, with safe weight loss being 1-2 pounds/week. Most likely if you're gaining weight, it's because you're building muscle from the exercise. Try taking your measurements and see if you've lost body mass, even if the scale went the wrong direction. Your calorie intake is based on your age, height and current weight. If you like, I can help you calculate that.

764218 tn?1234569759 The best and safest way to lose weight is through diet alterations and exercise. You need to figure out how many calories/day you need to maintain you current weight, then cut that amount enough to produce a calorie deficit. Do not go below 1000-1200 calories/day. It would be a good idea to keep a journal of your food intake so you know exactly what you are eating and the nutritional content.
Avatar f tn It's hard. All dieters can relate. My family all have very slow metabolisms and a history of diabetes. I've been a large girl most of my life but I have discovered something that makes losing weight very easy for me. I realize that we all lose weight differently. What may be good for me, may not be the best or easiest way for you but here goes... Cut out all drinks but water. I lost 25lbs this way between November and February of that year without even trying.
