Common Questions and Answers about Losartan side effects cough

cozaar

Avatar m tn Yes, I've only been on it a week and I experience the muscle aches and bilateral flank pain as well. In addition, insomnia!
Avatar f tn t had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects. I am just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on Lisinopril vs Losartan to help me decide if I should change meds. Thanks!!!
Avatar n tn In clinical studies the overall incidence of side effects was similar to placebo. Side effects reported included diarrhea, muscle cramps, dizziness, insomnia, and nasal congestion. Losartan also may cause a persistent cough, increase serum potassium, impotence, and angioedema. Losartan may reduce kidney function in some patients and should not be used by patients who have bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both arteries going to the kidneys).
Avatar f tn Losartan blood pressure supplements comtains ingredients of losartan potassium. It commonly includes side effects like high blood ressure. dizziness, breathing difficulty, asthama. Try to consult other doctor if possible.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Hello, My name is Anatoly Petrov and I have I had a heart attack on 09/21/09. After my bare metal stents were clogged and I almost got another heart attack, a DES was placed inside those two. Since then I have been having chest pains. I am currently on Plavix, Aspirin, Simvastatin, Lisinopril and Carvedilol/Coreg/. Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up.
Avatar f tn I am considering shifting to other antihypertensive medicines to rule out losartan as the cause of my cough or at least prevent further aggravation. I failed to inform my doctor regarding this medication coz I just came across about persistent cough as its side effect. I am not experiencing other tb symptoms, no sputum to collect, no night sweats or fever. Please shed some enlightenment regarding my dilemma. Thank you & more power.
Avatar f tn dry mouth, shortness of breath. They did lower my pressure though. Along with these, I took HCTZ 12.5 mg which also have me those same sided effects. Doctor took me off ALL BP meds and my nose bled uncontrollably and I wound up in the hospital and was given clonidine as my pressure reached 100/97. Now I'm on 100 mg of losartan, no HCTZ, only a cough but....my pressure is not controlled and goes up as the day progresses.
Avatar m tn Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar m tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated.

Avatar m tn Losartan is a really good drug with few side effects. 50 mg is not a high dose. It should not be causing any of the problems you mention. Ask your doctor.

Avatar m tn Hello, I African American male in my 40's that have been dealing with my blood pressure running 140/ 90 for a while my doctor put me on Losartan HCTZ 50- 12.5 and my pressure. After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78.
16467414 tn?1448304929 Hi There. Im not a doctor, but my own experience with BP meds, is that they all have side effects to one degree or another. Sometimes the body adjusts to them gradually over a couple of weeks, so it may settle. Give it some time.

I failed to inform my doctor regarding this medication coz I just came across about persistent cough as its side effect. My doctor also prescribed me medications for GERD (nexium 20) for asthma, Singulair 10 (Montelukast) and Seretide inhaler.
Avatar n tn As with just about all medications, there are side effects. Losartan has its share as well. I feel if you're going to try this as a Fibrosis reversal opportunistic treatment, you should evaluate the side effects and certainly ask your doctor's opinion. As with pretty much all blood pressure medications, there is that ever gnawing and threatening sexual disfunctionality. Here's a link to the side effects: http://diabetes.emedtv.com/losartan/losartan-side-effects-p2.
Avatar n tn Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Hi, Cough is a sudden, noisy and violent expulsion of air from the chest, caused by irritation in the air passages, or by the reflex action of a nervous or gastric disorder. Chronic and/or dry cough can be side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. Allergies and infection are common causes of cough. In response to the allergy-causing agent, people get drainage (usually clear drainage) or a "runny nose." Red, itchy eyes may accompany this cough too.
Avatar f tn Ugh, I hate a lingering cough. Couple of things come to mind. First, coughs can last a long time. Once the airway and bronchial tubes get irritated, they take a while to get better. So the least little thing will cause a coughing jag (exertion, changing position to lay down, etc.). It can happen that it takes 2 months to get over a cough because of this. But there are other things to consider. You can get a type of asthma related to having been sick and this airway irritation.
Avatar m tn Well we have a lot of similarities, I'm a inch or two taller and a few pounds heavier... but a lot older. In any case I'd discuss the possible medication side effects with the doctor prescribing them. Some times side effects are worse than the problem they are treating. We all have to decide which is best, trouble symptoms or side effects.
Avatar n tn also take other supplements like co-q 10, b complex. I read about many side effects tfor this drug and I just do not feel safe on it, cannot take ace inhibitors, had allergic reaction, any feedback on this?
15481674 tn?1440853541 How long have you been on Losartan? 100 mg is a large dosage and it, too, can cause dizziness and tiredness... I was on only 25 mg for some time and I had some of those symptoms, plus weight gain/inability to lose, symptoms of a cold, etc... I no longer take it and no longer have those symptoms. It can also react with some of the other medications...
Avatar m tn Thanks Randinator (had to call you that cause my daughter is Randi and I always called her that).I never had any side effects with the sovaldi-olysio so I guess they spoiled me.I will follow your advice.Just wanted to be sure It was the Harvoni and not the dreaded flu.Thank you and everyone else for the advice.I hope everyone gets rid of this blasted disease and lives happily ever after.
