losartan or diovan

I have had an heart failure due to high chotesterol so I am on medication for Hipertension/ High Cholesterol. I recent weeks after I start using Co-Diovan 160/12.5 mg in place of Hyzar I am experiencing a gradual tightening in the upper chest toward the neck/throat and it is as if i may stop breathing? I am not sure if the change in medication has anything to do with it! I use to to exercise for about 30 min. or more each day, I can do only 2-3 mins. and with great difficulty?

I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I seem to be very sensitive to these medications and felt starting right off with 100 mg was a bit high. Everything I've read online suggests people are usually started off with 50 mg.

Now I have moved to Diovan+Diuretic to try to improve other side effects of losartan medication (still not better with diovan anyways, I always feel tired). I also take both the medications in the morning itself (before 11am). My blood pressure readings are better at doc office than home:-) (always better numbers from manual readings[like 130/70-75] compared to digital automated BP machines[like 140/85-90]. Not sure why.

as I didnt have this happen before.. not even when on toprol or diovan. but did have worse side effects from them ! have you ever had anyone with these problems or symptoms , that is on verapamil or maxzide ??

I had high blood pressure years ago, and after taking one or two medications with little success, I was given 25mg of Atenolol, which worked extremely well. Since then, the dose has been increased to 50mg, and that has done the trick--kept my blood pressure under 140/90. Recently though, I've been having an issue controlling my blood pressure. I felt really crappy a few months ago, and when I came home from a hike, my blood pressure was around 160/100.

Yesterday morning i took my thyroid pill on an empty stomach, then around 6 i took my famotidine i ate breakfast around 7 and i took a 1mg of Ativan, and My Losartan 100mg which is a blood pressure pill and Amlodipine 2.5mg which is a small dose, also my Metformin after breakfast too. All day i felt tired i was feeling weak like i was going to fall out and i was crying a lot.

my dad had a triple bypass last apr 21. last saturday, jul 4/2009 he started on diovan 160/12.5 (from corvesy+) and since Sat he's been experiencing chest pains that is not going away. is this a side effect? is he allergic to the this new med he's taking or is this angina? should he get himself to an ER?

Losartan 50 mg tabs. Anyone experiencing internal tremors or vibration or Hypersensitive hearing. The fridge seem louder or construction work seems closer and louder. If so have you found a solution.

I cannot remember if I took my Losartan today or not - 100 mg. should I take it?

Has anyone heard about a study with Losartan, a BP drug, on people with HCV, with moderate Fibrosis? Its suppose to shrink them, so the liver can heal. I was wondering how I could get on a study like that? I'm Type1a, a non-responder.

I am currently on Lisinopril to keep my BP down (I have Cardiomyopathy after going into CHF from a virus that went to my heart). I have had a cough which is a side effect of Lisinopril. My doctor just gave me a RX for Losartan but this med is more expensive by quite a bit. I haven't had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects.

My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. The doctor put on Losartan Potassium 50 mg. Since then I have been feeling nauseated and slightly dizzy. Are these symptoms normal with this medication? Any help will be appreciated.

I was still feeling dizzy and I wanted to stop the Diovan or the Metoprolol Succinate. My cardiologist said I should continue the Metoprolol succ and I can stop the Diovan. I was OK for a week or so, then suddenly, I felt the same pressure in my head again and I woke up at night. My BP was 150/100 and I got scared again. In the ER, they kept me overnight and I was admitted. The doctor put me on Metoprolol Succinate (25 mg) twice a day and observed me for 4 days.

I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.

I have been on Losartan for approximately eight months come here recently I have found it very difficult to swallow my food and seems like he gets caught in my esophagus, yesterday at two different Meals I began to choke on my food I had to drink several glasses of water in order to get my food to go down with no issues. Could this be a side effect of Losartan?

I am considering shifting to other antihypertensive medicines to rule out losartan as the cause of my cough or at least prevent further aggravation. I failed to inform my doctor regarding this medication coz I just came across about persistent cough as its side effect. I am not experiencing other tb symptoms, no sputum to collect, no night sweats or fever. Please shed some enlightenment regarding my dilemma. Thank you & more power.
