Avatar f tn I'm 22 years old and I have hypertension with no underlying cause, I've had a heart echo, kidney renal, EKG, stress test, head MRI all was normal. I'm currently taking 100mg losartan/hctz 25mg......my diet isn't that bad, my weight is well managed for my 6'3 frame...I played sports, it's all caught me by suprise. My top number (systolic) I can't seem to get down stays around 140's. Was she diagnosed on a single reading or multiple Bp readings?
Avatar m tn Hi thanks in advance for taking time to read this short question, and god bless! I'm 22 year old male, cardiologist currently has me taking 100mg losartan/hctz 25mg. I'm not over weight I've played sports all my life, I don't smoke or drink, I eat decently healthy, but I cant seem to keep my systolic number down...exercise doesn't seem to help either. My top numbers stay 130's-150's throughout the day. Bottom numbers are about 60'-80...averages 75....
Avatar n tn Losartan also may cause a persistent cough, increase serum potassium, impotence, and angioedema. Losartan may reduce kidney function in some patients and should not be used by patients who have bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both arteries going to the kidneys). Rare cases of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) have been reported.
Avatar f tn yesterday we noticed a patch of hair gone so took him to the vet had all the blood work done and this morning we received a call saying Tye was in renal failure and may only have a few months to live.we brought him into the vet to get SUB Q fluids and this is needed for the next few days he will get a special diet and have to take a water pill and antiacid as well as another medication i cant remember what it is called let alone what it is use for.
Avatar m tn I was on Losartan 50mg which was working fairly well then the nephrologist suggested I switch to Amlodipine 2.5 mg. which he says is better for creatinine levels. I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar f tn and was rescued from the streets in houston. she has renal failure and has really bad teeth. The problem is two different vets.said it would be too risky to put her to sleep to pull or work on her teeth. Her breath is really bad and I know she is in pain. My poor little girl needs some help. Does anyone have a suggestions?
681148 tn?1437661591 I was hospitalized myself for the first time ever with renal failure back in September. To this day the nephrologist hasn't been able to figure out what the cause of the renal failure was or why the kidneys are only almost back to normal, but won't quite get to normal. I also have Oral Allergy Syndrome, GERD/IBS, Celiac, MCS and asthma and possibly CFS/FMS. I've been reading some information about hursutism and its connection to the cortisol produced by the adrenal glands.
Avatar n tn Renal failure may be either chronic or acute. Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a progressive, irreversible deterioration of kidney function. Because cats hide their illnesses and the very early signs of CRF are subtle, this disease may only be recognized when the patient reaches the 70% deterioration level and more dramatic symptoms are observable. The seemingly sudden onset may appear to be an acute condition but is most often a crisis point of CRF.
Avatar n tn My cat, Miss Kitty has just died from renal failure. We did not notice any symptoms except weight loss and as she was about 14,, we attributed this to being older. She was still active and eating, until one Friday night when she collapsed. We took her to an excellent vet who gave her aggressive treatment over a period of weeks, including IV fluids, saline, blood supplements, phosphorus blocker, CCRF supplements, KD cat food, and we also gave her Astro Oil.
Avatar m tn I have 2 twin jack Russell terriers. today I was told one of them has renal failure. vet wanted to eutho him then and there. was totally unprepared. I brought him back home cause I can't afford the costs for an attempt to save him, which I know there is zero salvation. my question is this. I bought these twin brothers from a breeder at 12 weeks. they have never been apart since their birth. always butt and butt when they sleep. 11 yrs old.

Avatar m tn Hey I'm 22 yrs old male I have high blood pressure I've had it about 7 to 8 months now (or longer)...my numbers look like this 145/78, 142,75, 140/75, 137/75, 128/76 being the lowest I usually get. I'm on 100mg Losartan/hctz 25mg......last night my anxiety hit, because I had a few skipped beats and my Bp shot up to 168/86 but came down within mins to 137/80. How long "can" I live with numbers like this.
Avatar m tn Renal anomalies could be responsible for decreased or deranged renal function and may lead to renal failure. One working kidney is enough for normal functions of the body. It would be difficult to comment if your other symptoms could be related. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating nephrologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn The throwing up became very bad so I took him to a different vet that after a urine test was able to establish Teddy was in 75% kidney failure. Some Medication was given but he has become increasing worse. Vet suggested an IV Solutuion but after researching it on the internet decided my little guy's quality of life and his always wanting to please is not fair to him. To prolong the inevitable for something that may not work is not fair to him or me.
Avatar m tn As of today I have been monitoring my Bp one during the day and once at night. My systolic has constantly been in the 140's-150's/70's pulse is around lower 60's. I am on two medications for hypertension...losartan 100mg/hctz and sprolactone 25 mg. I was diagnosed with LVH (1.5 thickness) in 2013 heart echo from my cardiologist. Everything else was normal. I do keep regular appointments but it feels like there only solutions is mess rather than find the cause..

Avatar n tn I am a 70 year old man and I was admitted into the hospital March 28 because I was in renal failure. At that time my BUNN was 123, Creatinine 5.98 and GFR 8. Meanwhile as you can see from results below, it wasn't the only this wrong. They said it was acute renal failure and I should just be patient for numbers to get better. Here are all of my results now and not one doctor can give me answers as to why this is all happening .
1210142 tn?1266077031 Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...?
Avatar m tn Profound reduction of cardiac output and arterial hypotension in severe heart failure may lead to acute renal failure. Control of high blood pressure and blood volume (diuretic) can preserve your left ventricle function.
Avatar f tn Well, we went back to the vet yesterday. He said Sadie's lungs sounded good - fluid seems to be gone. She is still retaining fluid in her tummy though - not as much, but it is still evident. We are to continue the lasix and the Dr. also put her on special food - Iam's Veterinarian Renal Formula. He said that should help and he will do blood work in two weeks. Hmm.... I am wondering why he didn't just do the blood work yesterday?
