Common Questions and Answers about Losartan in pregnancy

cozaar

Avatar m tn How long have you been taking Losartan? We encourage you to check back in iwth your doctor about this to discuss. Here is a list of side effects associated with Losartan. https://www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety.
Avatar m tn As an experiment(with GP consensus), I doubled my dose of Apotex Losartan from 50 to 100 mg a day for one week. No change in BP. I am baffled. GP does not have a clue either. I want to try going back to Cozaar. Sound reasonable?
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.

Avatar m tn I have been on Losartan for approximately eight months come here recently I have found it very difficult to swallow my food and seems like he gets caught in my esophagus, yesterday at two different Meals I began to choke on my food I had to drink several glasses of water in order to get my food to go down with no issues. Could this be a side effect of Losartan?
Avatar f tn recently since last 1 yr having giddiness standing and palpitations.bp fluctuating on losartan 25.ct sngio dhows calcified plaque in lad and rca artery with mild narrowing.ldl and tgs raised.uric acid 9.hba1c 6.pls advise.
Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar n tn I cannot remember if I took my Losartan today or not - 100 mg. should I take it?
16467414 tn?1448304929 I had been drinking a few Ensure that day and taken multivitamins. Both of which had higher levels of potassium in them, and when I took my Losartan, not even 10 minutes later I felt like I was dying. I ended up passing out, very lucky I didn't die. Be careful with that stuff! Even things like Powerade and Gatorade, anything that has electrolytes in it will probably have potassium! And you won't realize you've had too much until it's too late.
Avatar n tn I would be inclined to discontinue you Losartan and have a 24 blood pressure monitoring done in a few weeks time. This will give you the true picture. In any case cut back with your BP until you see your doctor again.
Avatar n tn Losartan also may cause a persistent cough, increase serum potassium, impotence, and angioedema. Losartan may reduce kidney function in some patients and should not be used by patients who have bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both arteries going to the kidneys). Rare cases of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) have been reported.
2009161 tn?1327915695 Today my BP has come down to 135/80, any ways can I continue using the same medicine? Could you please tell me if Losartan Potasium has calcium in it. What is calcium channel blocker? My mom was treated with By pass surgery recently and she has been shown that there is calcium lesion that has been there in one of her heart arteries, Is it because of these tablets(Losartan Potasium). Please help me clarify this Doctor.
Avatar f tn I am not really familiar with losartan, but if it falls in the family of blood presure medications known as beta blockers it certainly can be the cause of your cough. Ace inhibitors have a much lower risk of causing the cough, and most people who have problems with beta blockers do well on them. I hope that helps you a little. God bless.
Avatar m tn So, avoiding beta blockers is a plus with your pulse rate, and the losartan your doctor picked is in a different class of blood pressure lowering medication. How's it working out so far? Do you drink caffeine, eat a lot of chocolate, smoke, take pseudophedrine for allergies, have a lot of stress in your life?
Avatar f tn I am a 59 year old woman. I was prescribed Losartan for my high blood pressure in March, 2012 (when I was 57 years old). Last year, in May, 2013, I was diagnosed as an asthmatic because of a persistent cough. My cough never left me in spite of taking Monetelukast (with Cetirizine) everyday since my diagnosis. My cough is sometimes dry. But when it is wet, I have a runny nose and sputum in my throat. I also use a nebulizer. But it sometimes does not provide any relief.
Avatar m tn I am taking Losartan, which is the generic of Cozaar. Like Benicar (which is not available in generic yet, I believe) it is an angiotensin II inhibitor. There are usually very few side effects associated with these drugs, but their action on the biochemistry of the body is complex, so anything is possible. I have Hashimoto's disease, which means I am HYPOthyroid. Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily.
Avatar m tn Hello, I African American male in my 40's that have been dealing with my blood pressure running 140/ 90 for a while my doctor put me on Losartan HCTZ 50- 12.5 and my pressure. After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...?
Avatar n tn A drug known for lowering blood pressure, losartan, has shown great promise to stop or even reverse fibrosis in Hep C patients The link is www.ihealthbulletin.
Avatar f tn Fortunately the incidence of aortic dissection or tearing is lower in these patients than it is in patients with Marfan syndrome. Unfortunately we do not know what the true incidence of adverse outcomes is with the bicuspid aortic valve population, so all we can do is extrapolate to patients with Marfans (a much different disease). That being said, what is most important is the rate of change in the size of the aorta on an annual basis.
Avatar n tn Does Losartan cause some people to have vivid dreams, nightmares, and/or hallicinations as a side affect?
Avatar n tn There was a small study about losartan reversing liver fibrosis. It is a blood pressure med. I will try to find the study and post it, or search for it on.the forum.
Avatar n tn OK, I just looked it up. Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
Avatar n tn Hi. I take boyh losartan 100 AND norvask 5 for HBP. For next month only, i will be able to buy only one of them. Which should I buy?
