Avatar m tn Well we have a lot of similarities, I'm a inch or two taller and a few pounds heavier... but a lot older. In any case I'd discuss the possible medication side effects with the doctor prescribing them. Some times side effects are worse than the problem they are treating. We all have to decide which is best, trouble symptoms or side effects.
Avatar f tn dry mouth, shortness of breath. They did lower my pressure though. Along with these, I took HCTZ 12.5 mg which also have me those same sided effects. Doctor took me off ALL BP meds and my nose bled uncontrollably and I wound up in the hospital and was given clonidine as my pressure reached 100/97. Now I'm on 100 mg of losartan, no HCTZ, only a cough but....my pressure is not controlled and goes up as the day progresses.
Avatar m tn s that have been dealing with my blood pressure running 140/ 90 for a while my doctor put me on Losartan HCTZ 50- 12.5 and my pressure. After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78.
Avatar m tn Yes, I've only been on it a week and I experience the muscle aches and bilateral flank pain as well. In addition, insomnia!
Avatar n tn Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Hello, My name is Anatoly Petrov and I have I had a heart attack on 09/21/09. After my bare metal stents were clogged and I almost got another heart attack, a DES was placed inside those two. Since then I have been having chest pains. I am currently on Plavix, Aspirin, Simvastatin, Lisinopril and Carvedilol/Coreg/. Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up.
Avatar m tn m currently seeing a cardiologist that has me currently on losartan 100mg/25mg hctz...my blood pressure tends to average about 130/75 right now(with meds). I had a sinus infection in December that lasted over a month and a half..(none of these symptoms was present before this) since January....I have a weird pressure/fluidly feeling that comes in the back of my head with a pulsating beat, and I'll get pressure above my nose...
Avatar f tn I believe that primary care manager thinks I am hyper now because of side effects from hydrochlorothiazide (am deathly allergic to sulfa drugs and this is a sulfa drug - unbeknownst to me until today).
Avatar m tn I would like to know if these are side effects of the meds or if it is possible i have some disease that affects my joints/disks as well as raises my BP?
Avatar f tn t had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects. I am just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on Lisinopril vs Losartan to help me decide if I should change meds. Thanks!!!
Avatar n tn In clinical studies the overall incidence of side effects was similar to placebo. Side effects reported included diarrhea, muscle cramps, dizziness, insomnia, and nasal congestion. Losartan also may cause a persistent cough, increase serum potassium, impotence, and angioedema. Losartan may reduce kidney function in some patients and should not be used by patients who have bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both arteries going to the kidneys).
Avatar m tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated.
Avatar m tn Hey everyone thanks in advance for those of you that are reading this it Is greatly appreciated of any feed back. First of I'm 22 years of age, male about 6'2 kinda muscular 228 pounds, and pretty active. I've been diagnosed with hypertension and was put on losartan 50mg/hctz 12.5mg by my cardiologist when my blood pressure was running about 150-160/80-90 consistantly about 2 months ago.
Avatar f tn Haven't started the new medication yet. I read the info sheet and it said "this medication may cause vision loss or other unwanted side effects" although most of the common vision problems and eye pain may be temporary and would be reversed if stopping the medication was what I was told. Further research says HCTZ may be associated with severe eye conditions that may lead to permanent impairment such as glaucoma etc, although I don't know how common that is.
Avatar m tn I have not heard of side effects as severe as yours. Some nausea may occur, but not like this. Most side effects are temporary and involve saliva glands and taste buds.I don't know anything about HCTZ/LINSINOPRIL. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I am a 50 year old man and have been diabetic for 5 years now, I have also been diagnosed with hypertension about a year ago. When I was diagnosed I was 5'9" and 180lbs. and in decent shape. Diabetes is rampant in my family with both my parents and half of my grandparents and plenty of my uncles and aunts are and were diabetic so I know genetics is a big factor here to.
Avatar m tn By then I was starting to have bad side effects like the typical dizziniess, but my hearts starting pump harder every time I do anything standing up or moving and my chest gets a little tight. Day 3, my numbers are high that morning, then it takes all day to come down. Day 4, my numbers are perfect, even got a 102/75 that evening. Day 5 was my day off and I decided to take a break from the machine, started to experience rough constipation.

Avatar m tn Losartan is a really good drug with few side effects. 50 mg is not a high dose. It should not be causing any of the problems you mention. Ask your doctor.
Avatar m tn Hi today I seen my cardiologist to follow up on my tests that were done (echocardiogram). I'm 22 years old, male, normal weight, 6'2, and I've been active my whole life in sports. I have hypertension and today I went in for my visit my blood pressure was 164/88.
16467414 tn?1448304929 Hi There. Im not a doctor, but my own experience with BP meds, is that they all have side effects to one degree or another. Sometimes the body adjusts to them gradually over a couple of weeks, so it may settle. Give it some time.
2009161 tn?1327915695 I am currently taking losartan 100mg/hctz, I went to the doc today and my Bp was 170/80 very high systolic not sure why? I also hope you find what your needing. Sorry I know I didn't help, just letting you know your not alone.
