Avatar n tn t know much about heart disease or high blood pressure but let me tell you a couple things I know about this medication. Lisinopril is used to control high blood pressure and water retention. Too strong of a dosage can cause diarrhea which can cause potassium to drop low. Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Been having problems with my blood pressure. I was wondering if theres a certain med for this that's safer for the liver. Any info appreciated.
Avatar n tn If you normally take this medication in the morning and your blood pressure is not sky high, just wait until tomorrow and take it at the normal time. If your blood pressure is a little elevated, take a ten minute walk to help bring it down. Or, if it doesn't upset you to do deep breathing, try that for ten minutes as an alternative. Which ever you try, walking or deep breathing, try taking your blood pressure afterward and see if it hasn't come down.

Avatar m tn So, avoiding beta blockers is a plus with your pulse rate, and the losartan your doctor picked is in a different class of blood pressure lowering medication. How's it working out so far? Do you drink caffeine, eat a lot of chocolate, smoke, take pseudophedrine for allergies, have a lot of stress in your life?

Avatar f tn Only on 25 mg day but it has to be it. Is there a good alternate. I am really healthy but have higher blood pressure and not sure why. Heart came back great.
Avatar n tn t cause me to have anything like you mentioned. I take it for high blood pressure, and Metformin for Diabetes. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I agree with you, I was put on losartan and didn't have high blood pressure and felt faint, tired, dizzy. my head went numb in the back and I started to feel faint on 25-50mg a day. maybe it's better to not take it. what happens in hypotension is that the oxygen flow to the heart and brain is actually reduced so you become faint which is terrible because then your cells start to die.
Avatar f tn I am a 59 year old woman. I was prescribed Losartan for my high blood pressure in March, 2012 (when I was 57 years old). Last year, in May, 2013, I was diagnosed as an asthmatic because of a persistent cough. My cough never left me in spite of taking Monetelukast (with Cetirizine) everyday since my diagnosis. My cough is sometimes dry. But when it is wet, I have a runny nose and sputum in my throat. I also use a nebulizer. But it sometimes does not provide any relief.
2191752 tn?1338280689 I'm on hypertension meds too. One side effect is dehydration therefore making sure you maintain a good intake of water is important and you won't get that cough or least, cough less. Make sure you speak to your Dr.

Avatar m tn is there a reason your doctor used this medication to lower blood pressure, it does seem a little out of the ordinary unless you have other medical problems. This medication works by forcing more water extraction from the blood, basically making you urinate much more to keep a lower volume of blood in the body. Is this because you have kidney problems? This medication can cause inflammation of the throat and/or airways so it may be the cause of your symptoms.

Avatar m tn StanfordHealth.org. " More research needed on whether blood pressure drugs affect cancer risk. A common class of blood pressure drugs called angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARBs) may be linked with a slightly increased risk of developing cancer, US scientists have found. But Cancer Research UK emphasised that no firm conclusions can be drawn from their study and that people who take ARBs should not stop using their prescribed medicines without first talking to their GP.
Avatar m tn t they both do the same thing by lowering blood pressure and opening up the coronary arteries? She is also tiny in height (5 ft) and I'm concerned that both are too much for her. She's already complained about the losartan saying that within an hour after taking it, she couldn't keep her eyes open or do anything much but sleep. Thanks in advance!
973741 tn?1342342773 So, Losartan blocks a hormone in our blood. That's all I can think of. I've lost weight since starting the medication. I don't crave food as much at all. I'm wondering if this is a common occurrence on this class of medications. I've read there is some data on the hormone that relates to blood pressure, angiotensin 2, that it is also related to weight. Any info on this?
Avatar n tn I'm light headed, vision narrows, anxiety when driving beyond 45mph. Doesn't happen when i'm a passenger. I have to slow down when it occurs, sometimes hitting the breaks nervously. Feels like im gonna pass out. Im on losartan for high blood pressure. Dr's have done blood work, eye doctor didnt see anything wrong, sugar levels are in normal range. I dont have to be thinking about any stressful things for it to happen. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn An angioplasty will not prevent hypertension, and hypertension can be an underlying cause for vessel occlusion and hardening of the arteries requiring angioplasty. High blood pressure requires treatment and needs to be controlled. Sometimes medication can be stopped as some high blood pressure is the result of the individual's lifestyle, diet, lack of appropriate exercise, smoking, alcohol, etc.
