16467414 tn?1448304929 I am trying to come off Atenolol after 7 years and a few weeks ago a doctor put me on Losartan Potassium and did not tell me that though I asked if I should avoid anything. I found out what Hyperkalemia does to you the hard way. It can kill you if levels are very high, almost did me in! Symptoms of it are muscle fatigue, weakness, paralysis, abnormal heart rhythms, and nausea. It felt like someone poured hot lead in my body.
Avatar n tn Yes, from your post it reads like you have access to generic beta blockers, both atenolol and metoprolol are short term, last only a few hours. They are not slow release, one per 24 hours type of medication. Talk with your prescribing doctor. But, I believe most who are taking regular/fast release beta blockers take them every 12 hours, I do.
Avatar m tn It slows sown your heart rate. The interaction of Atenolol with Calcium channel blockers (CCBs), digoxin (Lanoxin) and Reserpine and monamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors may cause this problem. You must notice that what medicine you are taking along with Atenolol. This is how you can maintain your heart rate. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn Address any stomach issues and make sure you have a slow warm up and cool down when you exercise. Maybe try and not push quite as hard for a while and build back up and see if that helps.
Avatar f tn Hello, my guess would be Trazodone, Lorazepam, Temazepam and Tramadol Hcl.These are the ones on your list that may show up. Different types of tests check for different drugs, so it depends on what they are looking for. As long as you have a prescription, and tell them what you are on beforehand, there shouldn't be a problem anyway.
1035021 tn?1296820707 Hi people, I have anxiety disorder and hypertension, this both diagnosed and treated. I have some control now with my panic attacks and extreme anxiety, but the problem is not that, I just tell you that just for you to know some priors, 3 days ago I started to experience some kind of numbness in my right hand fingers (the first 3 starting from the right).
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Losartan 50mg in the morning ( 2 yrs) and Atenolol 25mg (12 years) in the evening. I am a jogger and have had no problems. I'm training for a half marathon and had a extreme low blood pressure occurrence 2 days ago. Both my BP specialist and my cardiologist want me off the Atenolol. But their suggestions are quick tapering. I'm on my second day and had BP problems for about 2 hrs this morning ...BP now is 135/65 HR 53. Any Suggestions ?
Avatar f tn ve been diagmosed with hbp and my dr prescribed losartan 50mg. So far my bp is now in normal readings, used to be a 145/100 and sometimes higher. My only unresolved issue now is that I cant sleep. I thought my hpb had to do with, expected to be sleeping better once my bp was controlled, but its still a problem. Before I used to take benadryl to make me drowsy and I only take it if I had work the next day so I can have a full night of rest.
Avatar m tn It should work. Mayo Clinic was involved in some of that testing and they used Diovan. the angiotensin drugs all work the same on fibrosis.

Avatar n tn Losartan also may cause a persistent cough, increase serum potassium, impotence, and angioedema. Losartan may reduce kidney function in some patients and should not be used by patients who have bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both arteries going to the kidneys). Rare cases of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) have been reported.
1330929 tn?1317277607 I was given Librium for alcohol withdrawals and admitted to telemetry for 2 days to discontinue the Atenolol and watch for withdrawals from that as well. Heartrate slowly rose those 2 days and was finally in the upper 50's and they let me go home. After 10 days of no Atenolol my heartrate was back into the 100's. Always worse after eating reaching near 120 resting and 150 walking or standing.
Avatar n tn My 17 year old son was going into delayed entry program with marines and they found a heart murmur. Took him to doctor, ordered an ECG, came back abnormal, Sent to have an Echo done. Red flags sent up and was told to stop all isometric exercises. Pediatric cardiologist was not available so they sent him to adult cardiologist. He sent us to have a CT scan done. Upon that he sent us to a geneticist. The geneticist ruled out any connective tissue disorder.
Avatar f tn s, kidney scans and urine samples, so I was put on 50 mg of Losartan- atid a day, got a machine for the upper arm and everything has been normal since then (I measure everyday). My mother has had hypertension for about 10 years now, but her measurements weren't as high and she gets it from being obese.
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn others I do not. My meds are unchanged and include Losartan, atenolol, HCTZ, and Simvastatin. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn I have experienced excessive anxiety, agitation and sound sensitivity when (accidentally) double dosing Losartan. Long story, but I (for possibly weeks) was taking 200mg per day instead of my prescribed 100mg per day. ---I basically went NUTS!! I am doing better at my prescribed dose but am getting more and more suspicious of all meds in general. For instance-time released bupropion ruined my life for a while but changing to immediate release bupropion did not have the negative side-effects.
Avatar m tn I went back to Walgreens and asked the pharmacist if there was any chance that the Apotex was inferior/impotent to the Cozaar for some reason. She assured me that could not be the case and that there could be no difference. Losartan is Losartan is Losartan. As an experiment(with GP consensus), I doubled my dose of Apotex Losartan from 50 to 100 mg a day for one week. No change in BP. I am baffled. GP does not have a clue either. I want to try going back to Cozaar. Sound reasonable?
Avatar f tn Began taking Norvasc 5mg along with Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg (all 1x daily) approximately 3 days ago, and the blood pressure is still running extremely high. This morning reading was 186/85 and tonight 176/110!!! Worried that this can be dangerous. What should be done? How long until the BP goes to a "normal" range? Does the doctor need to increase the Norvasc dosage? If yes, when?
Avatar m tn Hi I'm 22 yrs old, active about 225lbs 6'3 and I was wondering I've had high Bp ranging from upper 130's to 140's or sometimes 150's systolic my diastolic ranges from 70's to 85...I was wondering if heart ratehas anything to do with my high Bp..my rest hr is around 60's or 50's...does this have anything to do with higher blood pressure? Am I at risk more with a lower heart rate I'm on Bp meds losartan 50 mg...
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with benign PVCs. I had anywhere from 0 a day to 550 a day. For a while it was terrible and I'd have 400+ everyday for about a week. My doctor prescribed me Atenolol 25mg and I take about half a pill (a little more.) every 6-8 hours . It knocked them out cold!! I was so surprised by how drastically it dropped my pvcs. Now I never feel more than 5 a day. If any at all. Is this a coincidence or does atenolol really help?
Avatar m tn I agree with you, I was put on losartan and didn't have high blood pressure and felt faint, tired, dizzy. my head went numb in the back and I started to feel faint on 25-50mg a day. maybe it's better to not take it. what happens in hypotension is that the oxygen flow to the heart and brain is actually reduced so you become faint which is terrible because then your cells start to die.
