Avatar n tn Hello ladies, I am 31 years old and 18 weeks into my first pregnancy. I have had very mild adult acne for the past 5 years or so but with this pregnancy it has gone from mild to I don't even want to show my face severe. Can anyone offer any remedies? I follow a daily skin regimen and have never had this issue like this before, all the moms at work say the same thing: it's just hormones.
Avatar n tn they are skin colored and make my nose look disfigured . hopefully get a response . im trying adult acnomel a cream for roscerea or something also are there any derms in bronx new york that can exam a person for free and not charge until procedures after examination are being made?
Avatar n tn Currently manufacturers of skin products have been trying to provide a wide array of skin care products to suit each skin type. For an individual to get the best skin care, one should follow a particular regimen of cleansing, toning , exfoliating and moisturizing. As one grows older however, exfoliation may damage the thinning skin. Cleansing and moisturizing are still essential as one ages. The use of sunscreen for the face is still a must.
Avatar m tn If the acne scars are fairly new, then aloe vera applied during your nighttime facial regimen will help reduce the acne scarring redness of the spots over a few weeks. At age 21, this should be a good treatment. For quicker results (and little more expensive), salicylic acid peels and microdermabrasion treatments done by an aesthetician or a dermatologist will also help reducing scar tissue by removing the top layer(s) of skin - there's a noticeable difference after 2-3 treatments.
Avatar n tn I am in the same boat as you - i started getting acne when i was 21 which i though was a little odd. My dermatologist told me it is common in adult females as it is usually hormonal; however, i refuse to take birth control because i believe the harmful effects outweigh the benefits. I am on perscription to calm the inflammation but for more of a sustainable long-term solution it is important to focus on a low glycemic diet as refined sugars tend to effect hormones.
Avatar m tn I am 25 years old, have suffered form adult acne since i was about 14 and had been experiencing lower abdominal pain on my left side for several years. In the last couple of years, I started experiencing hot flashes accompanied by moderate-severe anxiety and depression. Just as an aside, I studied psychology for several years and have earned, not only my bachelors in psych, but also several certifications and honors surrounding my degree ( I start my masters in a couple of months!).
Avatar m tn Hello, For premature acne, if the acne is protected from the sunlight and sometimes an antioxidant treatment if applied in the initial stage to cure the lesions of acne then it can be cured at the beginning. Then medical treatment is the same as adult acne i.e initially benzoyl peroxide and topical antibiotics are used. But they are to be used under medical supervision and not one one’s own.
Avatar f tn It is likely that thyroid autoimmunity might be more frequent in the adult acne patients and this should be kept in mind when screening women with post-adolescent acne". 2. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19327604 "When compared for the presence of each dermatosis, chronic urticaria, vitiligo and pruritus were found to be significantly higher in the patient group with thyroid diseases than in the control group.

Avatar f tn Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.
Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend an acne treatment for those cystic acne bumps that take forever to go away? I'm 46 and did Accutane in my 20s with pretty good results until the last several years. I've had the most success with Pro Active, but my skin got really itchy when I wore mineral powder makeup and I kept ruining towels, pillowcases and shirts. I've also tried Acne Free, Murad and Dermatologic plus prescription cream with no luck.
Avatar f tn Is there an effective way to treat acne for those with fibromyalgia? My dermatologists have tried quite the variety of treatments for the acne with no success. The acne isn't cystic, but a bit more problematic than mild acne. Also, a sulfa allergy limits that option for treatment. Current regimen includes Azelex (for redness and inflammation) and Tretinoin. I'm curious if there is an effective treatment that takes the fibromyalgia into consideration.
Avatar n tn I am 25 years old, 6 weeks pregnant with my third baby.. my acne is out of control!! I've never had acne this bad (whether I was pregnant or not) anyone else experiencing this? I clean and moisturize my face daily. Any good products to recommend?
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to cystic acne. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage.
Avatar m tn Clobetasol is a very high potent steroid....yes., accutane is a temporary relief to clobetasol induced rosacea like acne... your skin becomes addicted to steroidal cream...With the stoppage of steroidal application your skin undergoes a withdrawl stage which shows papulo pustular eruptions....I strictly recommend u to undergo chemical peels for 6 mnths(monthly once)(salysilic and glycolic peels alternatively) and apply hydrocortisone(for 5days after peel) as post-peel cream....
Avatar n tn t say what you have already tried but the standard treatment for body acne is a course of oral antibiotics like Oxytetracycline 250mg twice daily and a topical retinoid gel such as Retin-a. It would be unusual to get acne on your arms, this is more likely to be keratosis pilaris rubra. However, Retin-a is also effective for this condition.
Avatar f tn Then about 3 years ago I went to school for esthetics, where i learned the ins and outs of acne care, and treatment... i was the one who helped people with their acne and skin conditions. Half way threw school it started... everyday i woke up with 5 more pimples... i had pimples on top of pimples, on top of pimples. Being in school, I had everyone on my side trying to help me, every cream and face wash available, microdermabrasion, laser treatments, chemical peels, the works... NOTHING worked.
1388445 tn?1289267388 About a year ago my husband started developing adult acne. He's 26 years old. Since then it has just gotten worse and worse. It now covers his cheeks, most of his fore-head and down his neck and its starting to scar. It seems like we've tried everything! over the counter acne soaps, creams, lotions, pro-active, prescrisption medication, good hygene; washing his face alot. Sometimes it gets to the white head but some are just bumps. it looks, like irritated.
Avatar f tn I am a 25 year old female who suffers from adult acne. About a year ago, I developed a RASH on my chest that is similar looking to acne in that it has red spots with tiny, very superficial white heads. Since this was the first rash breakout I mistook it for acne and used an acne spot treatment (benzyl peroxide 2.5%) The next morning my skin was itchy and extremely irritated, and I realized it was a rash and not pimples and the benzyl peroxide irritated it a lot.
Avatar m tn The key is to find a regimen that works for you to keep acne at bay, instead of treating it when it appears and then letting it go and then breaking out again-only to repeat the cycle. Drinking lots of water does help a lot too. I also go for steam cleansing once in a while to clean my pores. Another thing that works beautifully for me are chemical peels. Ive tried dermabrasion, glycolic acid peels, aha peels and salicylic acid peels- theyve helped greatly in reducing scars.
Avatar f tn I was using to murad acne exfoliating gel and mederma skin care gel for that scars. Is it safe to continue using it? Please help!
Avatar n tn Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this). She does Cortosone injections on occasion for the cysts because I cannot, for the life of me, leave my face alone.
Avatar m tn you can try the one i am using.. got acne last jan to june 2013, for first time in my life! I count them daily and the last time I knew there was 63 of it all over my face, so big that my daughter would say eiiw..
