963268 tn?1312900315 I have a friend with MS I've known since I was a kid...too many years ago. She's been in a wheel chair for 15 years and has no cognitive problems...My memory is getting worse. I think I'd rather be in the wheel chair.
Avatar m tn I am having bad problems with depression - but I am also having bad short term memory loss, concentration difficulties and some word mixups- spelling like a 2nd grader in some instances. This is very bad- I am really messing up at work. I cant remember what or if I just took a med- what number I just dialed. I once had short term memory loss from prednisone years ago- this seems like that sort of. I've NEVER had this from depression- gasp. anybody had this kind of thing?
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from dizzy spells, vertigo that has caused me to fall over on the ground, short term memory loss, word retrieval problems, binocular double vision and a frequent headache lurking in the background. Doctor sent me for brain MRI w/wo contrast. The report shows mild supratentorial white matter disease (I can clearly see the white patches on my scan), and biparietal lobe atrophy. My doctor has not yet called me to discuss the results or where we go from here.
1763947 tn?1334055319 Hi, I was wondering if any one else has experienced problems with short term memory? Mine is getting worse by the day and I am really worried. My friend called me one night and the next day when we spoke, I didn't remember ever talking to her the night before. This type of thing is happening more and more. My move was delayed until the end of the month which means I am delayed in seeing my new LLMD. Would love to hear if this is something many people experience?
Avatar f tn I've been experiencing some really irritating short-term memory loss problems (for myself as well as other people). I am 35, female and trying to figure out why and how I can improve this. Ther are a few things I have considered...I was in an auto accident last year. I was t-boned and the driver side airbag went off and pretty much saved my life.
Avatar m tn Hi Kjm, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your memory problems. In my opinion it's not uncommon to have some memory issues while you are on an opiate, especially if it's an acute problem or short term high doses of opiate therapy. Usually these clear up soon after discharge or discontinuation of the medication. It's not usual to have a long term memory problem following short term opiate therapy. However six days is not a terribly long time.
Avatar m tn I am a professional person and used to think my memory loss was from depression (taking this for anxiety but sometimes can be disguised) which can cause some short term memory loss. I thought this since memory loss was never even considered by the pharms. Now today after finding this site, I see it is true what I have always believed. This Med cause short term memory loss!
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.
Avatar m tn The hand tremors are 90 percent gone, the anxiety is gone, but the memory loss, long and short term remain. Can mercury cause long and short term memory loss that would last my whole life, even 45 years after the mercury exposure?
Avatar f tn Drug studies are only 4 to 8 weeks long I doub't there have ever been any long term (more than a year) studies on the long term use of gabapentin. For any one who is having trouble tapering off of gabapentin a magnesium supplement is very effective in reducing the severity of the withdrawal from gabapentin.
Avatar f tn Ambien absolutely can cause memory loss, more commonly short-term issues, but also some people have reported problems with their long term memory as well. The good news is...if other causes have been ruled out, and Ambien seems to be the culprit, the memory issues will resolve most times after the Ambien is safely tapered.
1038916 tn?1264060250 Personally i feel yes..... I was on Paxil for 12yrs in total, came off with problems, withdrawl head shocks, then went down hill again so tried to go back on but had a bad reaction and now can't get on any anti-d..... body just goes into melt down. So yes i am convinced that these drugs when taken over a long period of time can cause changes within the brain's chemistry. Doc's will never admit to this, as my doc won't say....
1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
Avatar f tn The reason that I have a fear of more memory damage or brain damage from certain meds or supplements is that while searching for medications and supplements to help with memory I have come across information that certain medications like aderall and others plus different types of supplements can actually cause memory damage with long term use, plus I already have memory problems and I don't need more and I am on other medications for other diseases that will have adverse effects when taken

739070 tn?1338603402 He did a few simple cognition tests and told me I had memory retrieval problems. He suggested I take a cognition test given by a psychologist. The results were right on target. While taking the tests, I could tell by my thinking process where my weakness lay. The good part about this test is that you are also told what your strong points are. I no longer attempt to multi-task. But I can intensely focus on a task or project.
Avatar f tn It sounds like your sister is experiencing Anomic Aphasia, a symptom of some serious neurological problems such as stroke and tumors. This type of confusion can also be caused by traumatic brain injury, or her forgetfulness could be a sign severe drug use or stress. Either way, a doctor needs to see her ASAP. The following is from a speech therapy website called http://www.speech-therapy-on-video.com/wordfindingdifficulty.

1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
