645800 tn?1466860955 s written on it is constantly being wiped off and replaced with something else, information is only transferred into our long term memory if it is repetitive, of significance, connected to an emotion etc. Visual memory also comes into play in both long and short term memory too. There is also a difference in not being able to find where you put something and not actually 'seeing' something that is visibly right there under your nose.
Avatar n tn Hi I don't know I am just a lay person but I would be cautious about using any sleep medication with untreated sleep apnea. I wonder if your symptoms are the result of the sleep apnea vs the medication. Disturbed sleep can leave you feeling tired and low oxygen saturation levels could explain poor memory. I don't know of any long-term effects of Remeron. I have read that increased blood fats could pose a risk for some people though. This is said to be rare.
Avatar f tn I tried to get off of it and I was back in bed again in pain and extremely fatigued. I decided quality of life was better than quantity. What are the long term effects of its use? Is it possible that it may trigger Alzheimer's?
Avatar n tn Hi, Thank you very much for your question; although it is quite difficult for me to give you a precise diagnosis here without being able to examine you, though I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. You need a proper assessment and investigation here since there can be many causes for memory loss & concentration impairment.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm a 45 year male, that has been on antidepressants since I was 15 years old. Lately (over the lasts 6 months) I have been experiencing, extreme loss of short term memory. I'll be watching a tv show, it goes to commercial and I have absolutely no idea what program I was watching. When, say doing some bookkeeping, I will look at an invoice, and when I go to input the invoice # or what ever I have to go back to the invoice, sometimes 2 to 4 times...
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.
Avatar f tn Ambien absolutely can cause memory loss, more commonly short-term issues, but also some people have reported problems with their long term memory as well. The good news is...if other causes have been ruled out, and Ambien seems to be the culprit, the memory issues will resolve most times after the Ambien is safely tapered.
Avatar m tn If you have had depression before then you are talking about long term treatment with medication. When you have had one episode of depression you have a 50% chance of having it again; after a second one a 75% chance of having another.... and it increases each time you have a discrete episode of depression, meaning you have been stable between the episodes.
Avatar f tn I am now having a vast amount of medical problems from bone degeration to memory loss, lack of concentration and chronic fatigue etc..etc.. My question is,if anyone knows, what are the long term effects of the treatments? Can any of the medical problems I have now be attributed to the Hep C treatments?
Avatar f tn Although I have no problem remembering facts and figures and my short term memory is better than most, I have no long term memory of events. I know it's normal not to remember childhood, but I don't remember high school or college or anything I did there. In fact, my oldest memory is looking outside and seeing chairs on the lawn at my mom's birthday. That was two weeks ago and there only seems to be a vague, blank space before it. Memories just fade after a few weeks.
Avatar m tn hey guys, I was diagnosed with short term memory back in high school...teachers were made aware of this issue & I was given extra time to take tests/study. A few years have passed since then, but I find that I seem to be forgetting things quicker than I used to. For instance, I couldnt even remember the name of a movie I saw with my friend two days ago or our conversation....sometimes conversations hours after they have occurred. is there anythinng I can do to help improve my memory???
Avatar f tn Magnetic resonance imaging was performed with sagittal and coronal T1-weighted images, diffusion weighted axial images, gradient echo acial images, FLAIR axial images and fast spin-echo T2-weighted axial images on a 1.5 Yesla MR unit. There is a punctate hyperintensity on FLAIR and T2-weighted images in the right posterior frontal corona radiata white matter, and several additional punctate hyperintensities in the left parietal subcortical white matter.

Avatar n tn Nothing else I have ever known hurts like this. Has anyone done any long term studies about the long term effects of chemo? How can I find out more? Are there other cancer survivors out there who also feel the way I do? Telling me I shouldn't be hurting when I do hurt only adds insult to injury. Thanks, dragonfish This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/258014'>The long-term side effects of chemotherapy.</a>.
Avatar f tn I finished IFN tx on Dec 31 1995... 19 years ago. I am free of HCV but I too have long term side effects. It startedwith pain in joints and fatigue. After a couple of years I could no longer work due to what I later found out was multiple chemical sensitivities. They were severe. I stayed home for over 10 years and completely eliminated fragrances and other products with VOCs from my life. Slowly over years of avoidance I felt like I was getting better.
