Avatar f tn I just wanted to say that ive been chewing nicotine gum 2mg, for 10 years now, and I am up to 24 pieces daily! (ridiculous right) I am so dependent on this and I don't really want to stop even for years people warned me you better quit, that it will harm you! I've researched long term effects of the gum but didn't come up with very much, so I just make this a part of my behavior !
Avatar n tn Hi I don't know I am just a lay person but I would be cautious about using any sleep medication with untreated sleep apnea. I wonder if your symptoms are the result of the sleep apnea vs the medication. Disturbed sleep can leave you feeling tired and low oxygen saturation levels could explain poor memory. I don't know of any long-term effects of Remeron. I have read that increased blood fats could pose a risk for some people though. This is said to be rare.
Avatar n tn What are the long-term effects of using commit lozenges? I have used them for a couple years and can't kick them. Are they are safe replacement for smoking?
1825702 tn?1317577765 I do know about panic attacks indeed and that was one of my crutches for smoking as long as I did and putting off quitting. However I later found out that for me personally nicotine actually erupted anxiety, the more I had, the more my body needed just to maintain what I thought was "normal" Isn't Wellbutrin also used to actually help people quit smoking by lowering the nicotine withdrawals?
Avatar f tn If you occasionally heavily binge drink(once a month or less) and this has temporary effects such as increased heart rate during drinking, muscle aches and mild stomach irritation for the next few days, is this likely to have long term effects? Also, does passive smoking from other peoples cigarettes on nights out cause any long term damage?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.

Avatar m tn I have no symptoms and feel great; I am 54 and wondering if HEP C would kill me or if the treatment could cause long term effects that could ruin my health. The longest living male in my family was my father 86 and had slow progressive dementia the last 10 years.

I used the commit lozenge for a brief time and when my dentist saw what it did to the inside of my mouth, he said that I should stop it immediately. I think that commit and nicorette have basically the same ingredients. I'm happy that you gave up the smokes, but maybe you will consider giving up the gum now?
Avatar n tn Nothing else I have ever known hurts like this. Has anyone done any long term studies about the long term effects of chemo? How can I find out more? Are there other cancer survivors out there who also feel the way I do? Telling me I shouldn't be hurting when I do hurt only adds insult to injury. Thanks, dragonfish This discussion is related to The long-term side effects of chemotherapy..
Avatar n tn There is no good body of knowledge about the long term effects....if he were just starting the medication, I would think it might be a side effect, but if he has been using for twenty years, then probably not, but can't say that for sure...the way to find out is ask the doctor to take him off of prozac and see if his symptoms subside...should be done carefully and slowly over a 5 week period.......
