Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. The meds u r asking about also known as protonix used for acid reflux and GERD.....will have side effects on some individuals. To know or understand what long term use could cause symptoms wise, ask ur pharmacist or dr. Since we all respond to meds differently it is very diff to say what long term use might do to u.....
Avatar m tn When I stopped using I was very paranoid about the long term effects of cocaine use and believed that I was going to die from a heart attack. My doctor ran some tests (liver, glucose, kidney, cholesterol etc.) The test results were fine but after further investigation I was informed that I have dyspepsia – I am grateful for being diagnosed as I can now look to manage this condition and make the necessary dietary amendments.
Avatar m tn how long is too long? A few weeks, months, years? Thanks!
Avatar m tn darvocet is a weak narcotic with alot of tylenole in it...so liver problems are the most often side effect....4000 mgs of tylenol is the max dose per day..each darvacet has 650 mgs as a rule....r u taking them as prescribed?

Avatar n tn they had to give him 3 shots of morphine at the hospital to get him calmed down he was in so much pain....is there any long term side effects that might come up because of this....if there is a site to go to please send me the site....one other question...could this have killed or hurt him seriously.....
Avatar n tn I sure hope not because I have had to take these kinds of meds for a very long time now and probably will have to for the rest of my life. If they find that long term usage causes brain damage then I'm gonna be in some real trouble. I do know that prior to taking medication, when my depression and anxiety were at their worst that I definitly felt brain damaged. My meds corrected this feeling.
Avatar f tn What are some possible long term effects of crushing up and snorting adderall mixed with norco?
Avatar m tn Dear whoever may know, I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder 2 1/2 years ago, and I have been taking Lexapro at 10 mg per day ever since. The medicine has really seemed to have helped my life in all aspects. Whether it has really helped or if this is some kind of placebo effect, I am unsure. I still have moments of reasonable stress at work, but who doesn't...most importantly, I don't have panic attacks anymore.
662972 tn?1270166301 what are long term effects of methadone good/bad i am only 28 and been on it for 8 mos all info is welcomed thanks
Avatar n tn ve just came to know the danger of such a long term use and which includes liver damage and the increase of the chance of a heart attack, therefor i stopped taking that medicine. My question is how long it will take my body to cleanse itself from that medicine and if there is anything that i can do to speed up the cleansing process. Last, if any of my body organs got damaged, would the damage be permanent or it will hill up after a while.
Avatar m tn Has anyone encountered side effects after usage of Ribavirin / Interferon Combination Therapy. I completed my treatments 8 weeks ago and I have encounter muscle and joint pain and believe my immune system might be suppressed. My lower lip on one side was swollen 3 times its size New Years Eve morning, couldn’t be a food allergy I never had anything to eat yet.
Avatar n tn Doc fears I may need 2 shots a week and does not want to do that yet as he does not know what the long term effects could be if I need it for the next 40 weeks. What are the dangers or long term effects taking Neupogen at this rate, as I am anxious to continue treatment as I am a stage 3, 53 and showed early response.
Avatar f tn Actually there are several very good articles on the use of methadone for long term treatment of chronic pain. It is beleived to be the narcotic least apt to be abused and has the least side effects. I'm sorry I forgot the author (a respected PM Physician) of the best and most informative article but maybe someone here will remember. I found it by goggling it. Dosage may have to be increased in time but again they beleive not as often as other opiates.
Avatar m tn Make no mistake, suboxone and methadone are for long term high dose opiate users looking to get clean with the unfortunate prospect of maintenance therapy looming. If you don't fit that description, steer clear of both of them.
Avatar n tn I did look up the price of it and it was cheaper online, so if your going to do this long term you might ask your vet if they will match the price or allow you to buy it online sice it will be for a long term use. My vet saved me 75 dollars.
Avatar f tn My understanding is that you need to keep a very good log of when you take the pills and what side effects you have so your doctor can adjust the dosage correctly. I would think your symptoms should be reported to your doctor as soon as possible. Evidently there can be a fine line between too much and not enough. I found two articles that talk more about the side effects and adjusting the dosage as well as relative contraindications. I hope this helps. Marie http://www.gulflink.
Avatar f tn I think one of the issues with using methadone and really any opioid at this point is accessibility for the long term. No longer is it shined upon to use any opioid long term. Pain clinics and whatnot make it harder and harder. It's unfortunate because chronic pain is real. The down side too is propensity for addiction. And tolerance being built up and need for higher doses as you are on it to get the same relief as the lower dose you started on.
