long fingernails video

I have been noted to have domed fingernails but not apparently 'clubbed' They have been like this as long as I can remember What might cause domed nails but not clubbed. ???

ve had this white band that appears only on my index and middle fingers for a few months now (see pic). Also, the lunula on all my fingernails is becoming misshaped and smaller and smaller and it's completely gone on a few fingernails. Should I see a doctor?

thanks for the info. i will let my doctor know about this. i haven't felt good since thanksgiving last year. i have had a respitory/sinus infection that just won't go away with a rotten smell in my nose. and my energy level has been at zero for so long now i forgot what it's like to have any! thanks again for the post.

I knew about the thinning hair, which I am experiencing to a much, MUCH worse degree than I expected (but hey, it's summer!! ) But I have never read anything about tx affecting your fingernails. It only makes sense, as they are both made of the same thing - but has anyone else had this problem? Mine are awful! They are like paper, thin, peeling, and constantly ripping, even though they are cut completely short.

Four days ago a friend of mine -- who has a problem with my sexual acts -- told me I should stop because I can get HIV if semen gets underneath my fingernails. He told me that underneath the fingernail is mucous membranes that will get infected. I cant find any information about this but it cant be true can it?!?? Short hand -- IF I get semen underneath my fingernails am i at risk for HIV?????

do you have long fingernails, or fingernails that aren't VERY short? You may have simply been tender and sensitive and you scratched yourself.

The doctor says my thyroid hormone levels fluctuates as do my symptoms. My fingernails are the worst and I am so very tired and weak. They are very soft and thin with ridges. I thought the synthyroid was supposed to help with these issues. Anyone have terrible fingernails with their VDD? I ask because for the past few years my nails have been very blah, the minute they start to grow they just split and peel. Now, I have noticed being on the VD for the past few weeks/months my nails finally seem to be growing slowly and not splitting or peeling, yet anyhow.

Hey there, girl.....I don't know. It sounds terrible. When I was getting chemo, I had an eruption of psoriasis and I lost my toenails and they aren't coming back....chemo ended 5 years ago. I hurt my toes all the time; but I know it would be much worse if it was my finger nails. I wish I could offer some help. Maybe someone will come along and know something helpful. Have you spoken to your doc or your chemo team about this? That's a good place to start.

One and a half month ago, I overexercised (went running a lot more than I was used to) and when I finished, my fingernails were purple/blue. Since then, they have remained purple. A week after that I started developing many other symptoms which I'm quite sure have to do something with that. I went through several tests including EKG, echocardiogram, xray, spirometry, CT scan and blood work. All came back normal. My fingernails had never changed their colour before that incident.

No one seems to have a perfect story that matches mine. When I play video games for long periods(few hours, 2 or 3.) I get this numbness/tingling on the side of my face. It has gotten worse over the years now with a burning/pressure feeling.... I also get some sort of dizziness/light headedness. I'm very concerned.... In my family seizures from video games is in our genes.. Im very concerened Should I see a doctor??? Btw this has been happening for a few years now...

If HIV fluid got under your fingernails from hand-genital contact, does the virus die immediately while underneath the fingernails? My understanding is that the virus is damaged/non infectious immediately when fluids are transferred onto the hands no matter if its under the fingernails or any other part of the hand. I think I already know the answer but I would appreciate a response. Thanks!

t tear or have an episiotamy (sp?) It just feels like the muscle is really really sore. How long did this last for you ladies? The only way I can ease the pain is to sit in the shower with the stream pointed right at my v with hot water for a few minutes. I can't even pee in the toilet because it stings still. Lol. I'm 21 years old man.I have a strange habit of biting my fingernails and playing with them in my mouth and finally i used to bite them to pieces and chew them. I have been doing these for years. I'm weighing 52 kg. Many say that 52 is very less for my age. I haven't seen any improvement in my weight for 5 years. Is my underweight is due to chewing fingernails. I used to skip breakfast for nearly 8 years.

Does anyone have cuticles that are as tough as nails...and fingernails that are soft and thin like paper?! What could cause this?And what can I do about it?!

Not sure where this question fits in - I have an 8 year old whose fingernails and toenails don't grow. I think I've had to cut them maybe three times his whole life. Everything else grows normally - his hair, his body (he's tall for his age)...Not sure if this is something to worry about. Thanks for any input.

I have these white lines on my fingernails that run parallel to the cuticle. They have areas in the white line that are heavier and make the line look like a spot. They cover the nail in it's entirety. I have taken zinc for year now with no real change. I am concerned about taking too much zinc since it was removed from some dental products. My hypoyroidism is controlled with medication. I do not suffer trauma to my hands. I am 55 yes old and have had these for as long as I can remember.

As long as you are gentle with yourself and your hands are clean as anniebrooke says (just wash your hands before hand or use hand sanitizer), it's not a problem.
