loestrin and weight loss

I started Lo Loestrin Fe oral birth control pill on January 14, 2014 after being off of it since Thanksgiving of 2013. Previously I had constant break-though bleeding (more like a period- for even 2 and a half weeks) and cramps. I switched to Microgestin and that made me so sick I stopped, and then restarted Lo Loestrin Fe. I have taken it everyday and have never missed a pill.

This is one of my biggest fears, because I used to be a bit heavier and never want to go back to that. I am just SO nervous that I am going to gain weight and my running will be negatively impacted on the lo loestrin fe. Does anyone know if lo loestrin fe causes any weight gain or does anyone have any positive/negative experience with it?

Interesting. Did you have weight gain issues? I ask because I don't (and when I do gain weight, it's in my legs- I have permanent cankles regardless of my weight).

I think the first step is see where you are right now. Take a week and write down everything you eat and drink. You don't have to measure anything or weigh portions - just give yourself a general idea of what you have been doing so that you see where you need to make changes. Feel free to share some of what you learn, and I'll be happy to make some suggestions!

They stayed pretty big, wavering depending on my weight loss or gain, but overall I stayed around the same weight (I never actually lost/gained enough to change dress sizes). However, now that it's been 5 years since I started on this pill I notice my breasts have actually gone back down to what they were originally. I am so upset! I am actually OK with my current size, but I'll be really upset if they get any smaller. Is this normal?

I liked it better then Loestrin, since while on Loestrin I had breakthrough bleeding every single day. (So annoying.) But even with Femcon, I had breakthrough during the third week, but I was reading that a lot of women get breakthrough bleeding during the first couple of months.

However, over the past few years I believe that ortho-tricylen has caused me to gain weight and feel extra anxious. My pill pack is ending this sunday and I was toying with the idea of stopping my birth control all together to see if the symptoms were indeed from ortho-tricylen. My ideal solution would be to find a pill with lower symptoms but this has stumped my gynecologist and primary physician, as a lower dose pill seems to cause spotting for me.

I am two weeks into my first pack of Lo Loestrin and I had unprotected sex about 5 weeks ago. I had awful cramps and some bleeding today but it stopped. Is this normal?

every birth control i have been on i have been gaining weight.... and i looked up loestrin and it said it doesnt and you get lighter shorter periods.... and only have it for 3 days or so... im not on any birth control rite now but i just got my results back from my papsmear and it said its ab-normal! whatever that means. And im scared to go back on birth control since my miscarriage that was back in 2008!! =0[ someone help...

Every single birth control that contains high androgen index progestins can cause hair loss. Stop telling women Plan B and birth control pills don’t cause hair loss. They do. The more doctors that understand this - the less of a problem women will have as they can make an informed choice. Please do your research. A simple search on any big BCP air IUD containing high androgen index progestins will show you this. Mirena, Plan B, Loestrin and many more.

Thanks so much. I had an ultrasound the same visit he put me on Loestrin- no sign of cysts or fibroids. And I agree, hormonal BC is ridiculous! I'm amazed I have such awful reactions when other women seem to do fine.

Help - has anyone had a rash with Loestrin - I have been itching and have rash on stomache chest and back. I also experienced terrible depression that put me in a zombie state. I only used this drug for one week and my doctor took me off. Did anyone experience these symptoms???

The first month that I was on Lo Loestrin I got my period, very short and very light for about 2-3 days. This month I delayed my period by a week because I was going on vacation. So when it got to the placebo pill I just took a week of "active pills" from another pack. However, I just finished my placebo pills (inactive pills) for the month and I have not gotten my period.

I am on Loestrin 24 and had the same issue. I also have cramps the week before, during, and after my period. I have cramps for like three weeks out of the month. They seem to be getting worse too. And I am crazy emotional. Do you have any other side effects?

i was put on the birthcontrol called loestrin. ive been on loestrin for a little over 6 months now and all of a sudden one day i couldnt have sex anymore because it hurt so much. as time passed this pain went away but now as of today just him inserting it for one second and then all of a sudden ever since it has hurt to pee.why is this?

I was taking Loestrin Fe and had alot of spotting the first month (not necessarily while having sex). I also had more spotting in the third month. I told my doctor & she said that the hormones were too low for me. I would let your doctor know and see if there might be a better one out there for you.

I switched from Loestrin to Ortho because I started not having periods AT ALL on the Loestrin and I had CRAZY PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS. I got a blood test but it was negative. Now I am on Ortho and am a little nervous because I've heard and read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill. Any advice????

Depression, mood swings, food craving, weight gain, bloating, and lack of lubrication. My doctor is switching my pills to one with a higher hormone level. She says I am feeling bad because my pills are not strong enough. I start the new ones Sunday and am hoping for the best. Two things that will definitely help are more protein in your diet and exercise. This will keep your blood sugar levels more stable and energy level higher.

If you tell your doctor your experiences and concerns about weight gain, they may able find one that hits the sweet spot.

ve been on the ortho series until I was 32 and the Loestrin (24 and 28) up until my pregnancy and continued it after pregnancy. Both made a big difference. Only now am I feeling more 'inflammatory' like pain. But they said I definately have adhesions (ovary wrapped behind my uterus). I possibly might begin menopause (hot flashes). But all I can say is that birth control pills definately gave me a life. I would try them. Never been on Yaz. You can always get off of them.

I also have acne that wont got away and i have small thickeded hair below and around my belly button.
