Loestrin and breakthrough bleeding

Common Questions and Answers about Loestrin and breakthrough bleeding

loestrin

Avatar f tn I liked it better then Loestrin, since while on Loestrin I had breakthrough bleeding every single day. (So annoying.) But even with Femcon, I had breakthrough during the third week, but I was reading that a lot of women get breakthrough bleeding during the first couple of months.
Avatar f tn I have been on lo loestrin fe for the past 4 months. This past month I had breakthrough bleeding. I've been told that breakthrough bleeding means that I am not protected anymore, but does that mean that my pills were not working for the entire month prior to breakthrough or just the time after that? Could I have gotten pregnant before breakthrough even if I had taken pills regularly? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn I’ve taken 4 pills since the mishap and yesterday started experiencing breakthrough bleeding and agonising cramps!! Is this a ‘period’? Should I continue with the rest of the packet and have my 7 day break at the end like normal? I had sex on the Tues+Thurs after the missed pills, what are the chances I could fall pregnant from that? Thanks!
Avatar f tn However, in the past couple of months I have experienced spotting and breakthrough bleeding all over again and that is not normal for me. What could be going on? I take my pill at the same time daily and there haven't been any changes of lifestyle.
Avatar f tn Hi there, There may be breakthrough or intracyclic bleeding and spotting especially during the first three months of use. If bleeding persists or occurs after previously regular cycles, you should get checked for causes such as pregnancy or malignancy. If pregnancy and pathology have been excluded, bleeding irregularities may resolve over time or you may need an alternative method of contraception. Do keep us posted. Take care and best regards!
Avatar f tn My first month I had a few days of breakthrough bleeding but my period was on time. The 2nd month I had no breakthrough bleeding and everything was on time perfectly. Now this month, I've taken all of my pills on time except one, which I was two hours late. About two weeks to a week ago, in the middle of the package of pills, I had a week of brown discharge. It was light and light brown at first, but it got darker, heavier, and lasted a week. There was some blood too.
Avatar n tn Call your doc for a stronger kind of pill, and use secondary precautions, your pill might not be effective if it can't prevent breakthrough bleeding.
993114 tn?1249429629 and i am just concerned because my period which is usually 5 days has become what seems to be 10 days. and i would like to know if this is actually breakthrough bleeding, so something chlamydia related that i should be worried about.
Avatar m tn The first month I got my period on schedule and experienced no side effects. The second month I had breakthrough bleeding for about 2 weeks in the middle of the month, but no period on the placebo pills. The second month I had light brown spotting the 2nd week but again no period. Should I be concerned? I've heard that some women on this particular pill don't get their period, even my gynecologist warned me of this, but it still freaks me out!
Avatar f tn My boyfriend and I had sex about six days ago. He didn't wear a condom because I'm on birth control and have been on it for about two years now. However, five months ago I switched to a new brand. I take the pill everyday at the same time except I was late the night after we had sex by eight hours. Six days later, this morning, I woke up with breakthrough bleeding. I wouldn't even call it a moderate amount. It's mainly when I wipe or when I've been active for awhile.
Avatar f tn Then I had unprotected sex (pull out method) on Feb 11th and 14th. I then had breakthrough bleeding- more like a period- from Feb 19-25. I had unprotected sex (pull out method) on Feb 28th and March 1st. I then had spotting March 3rd-6th. I have taken every single pill, and I have only been late by about 1 to 3 hours taking maybe 5 pills. As of yesterday I was supposed to start my period and I thought, what the hell, I'll just take a test.
Avatar f tn ve heard that it can cause some breakthrough bleeding/spotting, but not bleeding every day! Sheesh, that *****. It's really new, and though it's FDA approved, I was skeptical when I heard about it. I'd go back to your doc... Don't give up, there is probably a pill out there that can make your periods more manageable. Have you tried Depo Provera, or Loestrin? Something that would at least reduce the frequency & heaviness? That might be better than having bleeding every day.
Avatar f tn I started Lo Loestrin Fe oral birth control pill on January 14, 2014 after being off of it since Thanksgiving of 2013. Previously I had constant break-though bleeding (more like a period- for even 2 and a half weeks) and cramps. I switched to Microgestin and that made me so sick I stopped, and then restarted Lo Loestrin Fe. I have taken it everyday and have never missed a pill.
Avatar n tn Would breakthrough bleeding be that heavy [it was a decent sized pool of blood, not like a ton but a good amount] and only happen once? A couple days later I did get a bit of brown discharge as well which looked somewhat like dry blood. Could this have been related? Sorry for all the questions but you've been very helpful, I really appreciate it!!!
Avatar m tn I am two weeks into my first pack of Lo Loestrin and I had unprotected sex about 5 weeks ago. I had awful cramps and some bleeding today but it stopped. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn Hi! Loestrin is a very low dose pill, and sometimes after you have been on it for awhile, the lining of the uterus gets very thin and bleeding becomes irregular. OR this could be a one time only thing, especially if you missed a pill or took one late. I would tell my patient to wait and see and if it happens regularly, you may need to swtich pills for awhile. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn No, I'm never late and I never skip taking my pill. My last period I had was only 3 days long and it was extremely dry, and clot-like as well as a very dark brown.
Avatar m tn I recently started taking Loestrin 24. I started experiencing light bleeding during sex which lasts for a day or 2 then stops, but then occurs again the next time. It only happens during/after sex. I've never had this happen before. There was nothing abnormal when I had my check up and was given the prescription. Has anyone ever heard of this happening with this brand?
Avatar f tn I switched from Loestrin to Ortho because I started not having periods AT ALL on the Loestrin and I had CRAZY PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS. I got a blood test but it was negative. Now I am on Ortho and am a little nervous because I've heard and read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill. Any advice????
Avatar n tn Oh and I was mistaken I'm on lo Loestrin fe
Avatar m tn I'm on my second week of Junel fe 1/20 and have been bleeding the last few days, and the first week I have problens stayin wet, is this because of the Birth Control
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced breakthrough bleeding at 8 weeks and then stayed pregnant?
Avatar f tn For the first 3 months I had thrush exactly a week before I was due on every month as well as breakthrough bleeding. That went by the 4th month but the breakthrough bleeding still happened. It started slowly going so I thought finally I was getting somewhere but its suddenly increased again. The doctors are now putting me on a new pill called Gedarel which contains 30 mg ethinylestradiol and 150mg desogestrel.
Avatar f tn Breakthrough bleeding also depended on other factors like dose, potency, and activity of the particular progestin in the combined OC as well as the ratio of the estrogen and progestin in the formulation and other factors like missed pills and smoking. So this bleeding that you are having is breakthrough bleeding, but it is important to find out whether it is due to switching the contraceptive pills or due to pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I am breakthrough bleeding during week 2 of birth control pills. Should I stop this pack and if yes, when do I start the new pack?
Avatar f tn More then likely it's the birth control combined with your period. I don't think you have any reason to worry.
Avatar n tn s something call breakthrough bleeding, that usually happens in the 1st trimester. Got an u/s and my baby/me is okay. But still see your Dr to be safe, and get that security.
