467493 tn?1229895239 Erythromycin and clindamycin can be used in both topical creams and oral prescriptives. The oral forms of these are antibiotics for severe acne. Since bacteria are able to build resistance to antibiotics, however, erythromycin and clindamycin, though safe, may not be very effective. Despite general belief that oral contraceptive pills for acne will harm the baby if continued, there is no evidence showing women to be at a higher risk for defects.
21064 tn?1309308733 I could really use your help. I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?

Do not apply any medications on the area without physician's supervision.
Avatar f tn If you have normal acne, I would consider starting you on oral contraceptive pills or spironolactone + oral contraceptive pills. This combination is a good one for normal acne. It sounds as though you may have a condition called hidradentis however, and that will not respond to these medications. Probably the best thing to do is to have both your gynecologist and your dermatologist consult with each other to help you. Good luck!

Avatar n tn Back and shoulder acne are quite difficult to treat compared to acne on other parts of the body. Thoroughly wash your body everyday, especially the back and shoulder part using a back brush and frequently change your bed sheet, as it is conducive for bacterial growth. Engage in a diet that is low in sugar and fat but is rich in vitamins. This prevents acne by preventing the buildup of excess oil on the skin. Avatar n tn I have had acne all of my life. At 26 I did two rounds of Accutane, which cleared my T-zone and chest/back acne. Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this).
