Common Questions and Answers about List of low carbs vegetables

carb

Avatar f tn Also, the most important element of a diet are vegetables, which are carbs, so a truly low carb diet would have few vegetables in it and would therefore be unhealthful for most of us. There's also a big different between whole grains and highly refined grains, which means that eating grains usually means white flour wheat to most people. That's not a calorie problem as much as a quick metabolizing to sugar problem, and unburnt sugar stores as fat.

193609 tn?1292180293 What is the recommended number of carbs to eat per day? I am using a calorie counter and I am good there, but not sure how many carbs per day will equal weight loss??? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hey there! I don't think you need to limit yourself to a certain amount of carbs per day. I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar f tn This means that your best source of carbs are vegetables (rahter than bread, rice, pasta etc). With diabetes, fruits also need to be limited (particularly the sweet tropical fruits) as they are high in sugar. If you do eat foods like rice and bread, you should eat brown rice and wholegrain bread. As foods with more fibre will slow absorption. But still only eat in moderation. Make s ure you eat fat and protein with your carbs. This will also slow absorption.
1855476 tn?1356739693 Are you eliminating processed carbs like pasta, bread, rice, etc? Are you only getting your carbs from vegetables and fruits? I would recommend making sure you aren't getting your carbs from anything processed (ie bottled sauces, drinks, breading, etc). If you are eating a lot of fruit, that can be a culprit as fruit is loaded with sugar and sugar equals carbs. Reduce the amount of fruit you are eating or find a type of fruit that it lower in carbs.
Avatar n tn Make a list of low glycemic foods and also a list of alkalizing foods and eat mainly from these 2 lists. Make sure you balance your intake with some good quality proteins.
Avatar n tn So all proteins are good, (meat, fish, cheese), and most vegetables are low carb. You can to go calorieking.com for a list of the nutrients in all common foods and packages also list carbs.
Avatar m tn low carb! as in simple carbs but consume complex carbs and protein. don't forget to add cardio and strength training.
Avatar n tn Don't beat yourself up too badly over it, I'm in the same boat as you... I don't really overeat, and the things that I do eat, I think out and try to make healthy meals, but I still ended up with gestational diabetes. Unfortunately, it's just something that happens because of all of the weird things that happen in pregnancy. I've learned to just go with it... That being said, I was advised to count how many grams of carbs that I take in and what foods contain them.

Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt is high in protein and low in sugar, making it a great snack or breakfast option for weight loss.
451075 tn?1210258648 Where are your vegetables? Dairy? I know you said you don't intend to eat at McDonalds when you are finished with your diet, but often when you stop a SEVERELY limited diet such as you are describing, ANY introduction of higher carbohydrate items (even if they are complex, healthy carbs) will cause a rebound gain that is rapid. For example, years ago I did South Beach and lost a good amount of weight (probably 20 pounds).
Avatar f tn Went through the same thing. Diabetes made me really thirsty. As a result, I drank a lot of water, diet soda and juice. This caused me to flush out all of the vitamins and minerals of my body. I am reallllly low on just about everything. Just started suplements and a big daily dose of magnesium as suggested by my nutritionist. Since I've eaten very low carbs and kept my sugar lower in addition to the supplements, the cramps are gone.
Avatar f tn U should try to stick to as low an amount of carbs as possible. 15-30 breakfast, 45-60 lunch and dinner and 15-30 snacks. I usually skip the snacks and my levels are Great.
Avatar f tn Lots of vegetables, low carbs, low fat intake. I had been at a healthy weight from my teens to when i stopped smoking. i will admit to eating everything that wasn't walking the first week of stopping smoking but when i realised I had put on 9 lbs in 7 days I quickly stopped that. But 7 stone gained in 2.5 years.
973741 tn?1342342773 However, it is now known that type 2 diabetes can be reversible for many people if they change their diet to strictly limit carbs. Limiting carbs also makes type 1 diabetes much easier and safer to manage (smaller doses of insulin mean less risks of low blood sugars). How limited? It depends on personal tolerance. But definitely carbs will be limited to less than 25% of total daily energy.
Avatar n tn I eat under 50gr of carbs a day. Reasonable or not depends on who you ask. We do know carbs are what your body turns to Blood Glucose (BG). Dont confuse the carb with the stuff its mixed with, vitamins, minerals. All those are available in other foods without the carbs.
Avatar n tn t at all true -- the majority of your diet should be carbs. Vegetables, for example, the core of a healthy diet, are carbs, whereas beef is very high in fat on purpose and hard to digest despite being high in protein and so is never weight-loss food. In general, nuts, beans, animal food, and seeds are examples of high protein foods, while most of the rest is carbohydrate. In both categories you'll find fats, which come in good healthy ones and other not so healthy ones.
Avatar f tn Atkins never said to not eat vegetables! What he stated was to not take in carbs. beyond the point of not giving off Keytones. The maximum number of grams of carbs, known as your personal carb balance, that you can consume while continuing to lose weight. http://www.atkins.com/AtkinsDotCom/media/Master/Programs/2013-carb-counter-%281%29.
Avatar f tn Your meals should consist mostly of fresh/frozen vegetables, lean protein, limited amounts of healthy fats, a couple of servings of fruit/day, nuts, seeds, etc. Make sure you're only eating a single serving of everything except vegetables... you can eat as many of those as you like. Of course it's been proven that the most weight is lost when tracking food intake, so it is to your advantage to make the time/effort to keep track.
Avatar f tn The paleo diet is the healthiest form of low-carb diet, IMO. I would not go on a low-carb diet that was composed of low-carb junk food. If you eat a paleo diet, you are only eating real, whole foods (no junk food) and no grains. It's a lot of meat, vegetables, and healthy fats.
