The Emergency doctor kept questioning me about the time I starting lisinopril-HCTZ and the time my symptoms started. He told my to stop taking lisinopril-HCTZ and to call the hospitial today for a physcian. He also said that one of the side effect of lisinopril-HCTZ is a dry cough. Once I arrived home I decided to took up the side effects of lisinopril and found that it is not a water pill after all. I am wondering if lisinopril-HCTZ can some how be contributed to my symptoms.
They have put me on multiple blood pressure meds and doubled my usual dose of lisinopril. Once I got home I developed severe body itching. I did call the PA on-call this weekend and he gave me a bunch of hooey!!! I am using hydrocortinsone cream for now but of course that only provides temporary relief. Will call the surgeon's office today. Something has to give!!!!! I'm on Lopressor, Norvasc and lisiniopril. I have almost unbearable itching on my arms. There are raised bumps, but they are not terribly noticeable until I have scratched them into bleeding and scabbing. I've used Banadryl cream to no avail. I have had some sun exposure (sunny Texas)but the rash preceded that. I have had it for several months. I have few allergies - Texas Mountain Cedar, cat dander, molds, but they typically present as respiratory or sinus complications, not dermatological.
But at night just before I go to sleep I have acute itching. Sometimes the acute itching leads to rash formation similar to prickly heat. This is formed usually in the inner thighs, around the abdomen below the navel, and around the back of the neck. The itching is least or absent during the day.I have a light pain in the knuckles when I wake up in the morning.I also sometimes feel numbness in the knuckles when the itching becomes acute. What is the diagnosis and what medicines should I take ?

Hello, I don’t think that lisinopril is the culprit for causing tingling and itching that you are having.Hypocalcemia or deficiency of calcium along with diabetes, vit B12 deficiency and hypothyroidism can also cause such symptoms. My advise would be to consult a physician and getting your blood sugar levels along with thyroid hormone levels, vit b12 levels and serum calcium levels estimated so that the exact cause can be identified. Hope it helps.

Went to the er and was given prednisone 50MG for 6 days. Swelling went down greatly just hyperpigmentation on the lids. The day of my last prednisone my lids began to itch really bad and then my face also, I developed small fine bumps all over my face. I have been taking lisinopril for BP, crestor cholestorol, and alprazalam for anxiousness. Now, he wants me to go off lisinopril and start taking altenolol. Im scared to start it because of all the side effects. my point being I had to quit all my meds (Metformin, Victoza, Cymbalta, Vytorin, Levothyroxin and lisinopril). I try to watch my sweets and carbs, although I'm not always successful with it, and that is all I'm doing at this point. I have recently started experiencing pains in my legs, even so bad that they hurt to the touch, burning sensations (like sunburn) from middle of body to top of my head, itching when I try to sleep and lately headaches. These symptoms occur mostly at night.
As I said before, I just started getting the symptoms that everyone is experiencing 6 months ago around the time that I started taking lisinopril-HCTZ for my high blood pressure. I was told by my primary doctor that lisinopril-HCTZ was a water pill and that it was safe and a low dosage. After going to the emergency several times for a tickle on one side and sometime on both sides of my throat, coughing, watery eyes, and running nose, the emergency doctor asked me if I ever had COPD.
I have asthma & COPD. It is not normally debilitating, but every couple of months, I develop wheezing and congestion, so I go to my pulmonologist and get a steroid shot and a course of antibiotics. For several years, that took care of it and in between, I was just fine. However, for the last year, I have had hives and swelling different places, sometimes, but not always together. For instance, the first time, I had swelling in my lips and cheek and a large raised red patch on my groin.
My husband has had an itching, rash, sores, and now what I believe are fissures (look like the skin is tearing and flapping in several places) at the anus and the surrounding area for a very long time. It is now to the point that he is pretty miserable and trust me, it looks awful. I have searched medical photos on the internet and have found none that look quite like his problem.
After tx I had horrid itching and it was all just below the surface of my skin. It was as if my blood vessels were itching. I am now 7 months post and don't have any itching and haven't for months. I did have a little neuopathy, I think - numbness of the fingertips and sensitivity at the tips of my toes, and still have that to some degree.
I am a 69 year old female who 10 days ago woke up with my legs itching, I may have scratched them in my sleep. When I woke in the A M my legs were red, itchy and had these spots that looked like blood. I thought it was from scratching dry skin, which I get very winter. I went to my G/P and she said I have an allergic rash plus Petechiae, that she feels is coming from the rash. It is starting to fade and I can tell the rash from the Petechiae by the color when I press.

(Although with any drug, if it is what you need then price doesn't / shouldn't matter that much). I'm on a few others too - Vytorin, Plavix, lisinopril and 81mg asprin. Early on I also had a problem with Lipitor - it made me itch! Not a good thing when you re trying to get accustomed to blood thinners. After a few weeks they switched me to Vytorin and itching went away. Check with your doctor(s) and tell them of your problems.
Hi, About 3 weeks ago I started having an itching feeling between my thighs. Nothing was there but I scratched like mad. Well two Sundays ago I noticed a hive by my rear. I put cream on it and didn't think much about it. I noticed later that night that I had hives on my thighs. I took a chlortab and nothing. Monday, still hives and I tried benadryl. Nothing. Tuesday I was fed up, went to the dr and got a steroid shot. I still had a few hives so she called me in the steroid pack.
4) ALT/AST remain stable except when I add a new post-tx med (i.e. lisinopril) then they stabilize back into normal range. It's been over 10 years since my last bx and I don't consider them to be *that* invasive. Keep meaning to schedule one and get an actual stage and grade, but like nygirl, me so lazy.
Methadone 10mg 3 tabs three times a day, percocet 10/325mg 1 tab four times a day, soma 350mg 1 tab four times a day, lisinopril 10mg 1 tab daily, atenelol 50mg 1 tab daily, and vitamin D 50,000 IU 1 capsule every week. (my vitamin D was extremely low). I just remembered the last time I was ill I had gotten a small rash on my shoulder where my bra strap was, and that same rash came up yesterday before I was ill again. It doesn't itch, its slightly painful is all.

So this week is pretty booked and honestly I have fairly thick hair that tends to frizz and I'm not looking forward to 3 days of goop and glue and itching and arrrgghhh. I can't stand to not wash my hair LOL Of note, I am noticing a pattern of more exacerbated HR issues when I'm in the shower, also once when I took a hot bath. Don't know if it's the exertion or the hot water but something's making it all worse. And then I get all twitchy with the adrenalin release.
