474189 tn?1211184460 Kidney diseases can be secretly developping unnoticed for many years. At least you should be happy for the fact that at least you have caught the problem before it's too late. There isnt a fast cure for most chronic kidney diseases at the moment, so the treatment is mostly supportive - keep the blood pressure low, protect the remaining kidney function, prevent further damage and delay the renal failure. Lisinopril and Simvastatin is the correct direction.
Avatar n tn t answer that for you. From what I can find about Lisinopril, it looks like it can do a good job of controlling the protein and protect your kidneys. If you can do that, your load road might be easier to take. The best thing you can do to protect your kidneys is to control your blood pressure, take ACE inhibitor medicines like Lisinopril, and continue to test regularly. You've got work to do to stay healthy, but it can be done. It sounds like you are taking the right steps. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, which works on your kidneys to reduce blood pressure by preventing an enzyme that converts angio-tensin1 into angiotensin2. Angiotensin2 is a strong vasoconstrictor. ACE-inhibitors prevent that vasoconstrictor (narrowing of blood vessels and causing higher blood pressure) from being produced, thereby vasodilation (widening of blood vessels so the pressure within the vessel is lower) occurs.
Avatar m tn MY bp off the Lisinopril is 145/85 and I see a cardiologist for the first time on Wednesday is it safe for me not to take the Lisinopril till then? MY kidneys are also fine and my Liver. Why would Lisinopril cause the Tach and then sudden increase. Asked a Pharmacist and he said that it is a downplayed side effect of Ace Inhibitors that it does happen. My Blood Pressure has been around normal all day the highest is 135/80 when I eat and my pulse is around 90-100 now 3rd day off of Lisinopril.
Avatar f tn My husband has hep c for 20 plus years. he has hypertension as well that he takes lisinopril. He is very exhausted. Pain from arthritis. hes lost 17 pounds in 6 months. And he has lost alot of muscle. Just had a liver biopsy this week that we should have results tommarrow. Im also wondering if this is from his kidneys or liver. He urinated two months ago where he had bright red blood come out after he finished urinating.
Avatar m tn I just got off of Lisinopril after taking it off and on for four years (it was causing my resting heart rate to be around 100 until recently it was 130) and ever since then my bp has been fine during the day 120-140 70-85 and my pulse is around 80. But late at night when I got to bed and lay down my bp is low 100-110 60-70 and pulse is around 58. I am scheduled to have an echo Monday. I am a 24 year old male 5"5' 200 pounds and my cholesterol is slightly elevated.
Avatar n tn m confused about why I have it and if I am on the right meds. I have DM type 2 and I have cysts in my kidneys. Does this mean I have Polycystic kidney disease, or does it just mean I have benign cysts? I take Lisinopril 5 mg daily. My doctors say that the kidneys don't hurt, but I have constant pain. Is this unusual?
Avatar f tn i have been on monopril(fosinopril) for many years- and it also helps to protect the kidneys. since starting Tx my BP spiked, and they added Tiazac.
Avatar m tn I am a 61 year old male. Currently I am on 40mg of Lisinopril per day (20mg morning & 20 mg evening) this was prescribed by a Nephrologist for "leaking kidneys". non visible blood and protein. My blood pressure has always been fine. within the last 6 months I have noticed the left side of my scrotum is collecting a fluid that is making this condition quite obvious. It is only noticeable on the left side, the right side is normal. I do not have any pain at all in that area.
Avatar n tn 20 mg in 7 am , and 20 mg Lisinopril in 7 pm (so total = 40 mg Lisinopril per day). During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S.
Avatar f tn I am overweight, do not exercise regularly, take lisinopril for hypertension. I recently went to the E,R, for chest pains. I underwent a barrage of tests of which I obtained copies. I was never told what was wrong or what to do other than follow up with my physician.
Avatar m tn Hi, thanks for that. Are you speaking of kidney issues? Your med is controlling your blood pressure well too?
Avatar m tn I am a professional violinist and recently developed an essential tremor in my bow arm which interferes greatly with my playing. My neurologist tried primidone but it has helped only a little. I asked if he could put me on Inderal which I understand can help with essential tremor. However -- the doctor pointed out that I am already on lisinopril (for hypertension) which, he claimed, ALSO is effective in treating essential tremor.
Avatar f tn The high BP destroyed his kidneys. He ended up having 2 kidneys transplants. Things were never the same and his heart gave out suddenly one night. Terrible thing for his daughter to find in the morning. So don't ignore this, please.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for 3 months. It works on my BP but I am coughing and my nose is running.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Lovastatin for 2 months. For the past couple of weeks I've been experiencing aching kidneys and I'm very tired. I had blood work done today for follow up of the drug and notified the doctor that I had this problem. My body temperature is 96.8, which I realize is a bit low, but perhaps normal? Could the achiness be due to the Lovastatin? I'm quite concerned about this and have had kidney problems as a child.
Avatar n tn t find any of the medication that relates to glucose, but Zantac can cause a headache. Have you had a blood test lately? Lisinopril causes the kidneys to retain potassium, which may lead to hyperkalemia and an electrolyte imbalance..
Avatar f tn I am currently taking the maximum dosage of Toprol, clonidine, spironolactone and lisinopril. This worked fine for several weeks but now my pressure is climbing again, does anyone else have this problem? My test results for various test keep coming back inconclusive or they keep saying different medications may be throwing th results off. One test showed I had hyperaldosteronism, the next showed I didn't. Help?
Avatar f tn He stopped them because they interfered with his love life if you know what I mean. Problem is his kidneys were then destroyed and he was on dialysis for ages until he got a kidney transplant. Happy ending, right? No, that kidney failed, he was on dialysis again for years until he got another kidney. Ouch. Now he takes lots of pills every day instead of his one little blood pressure pill. Not a good trade in my opinion.
Avatar f tn • Males: 70 ± 14 mL/min/m2 Risk factors for kidney disease include diabetes, high blood pressure, family history, older age, ethnic group. GFR can increase due to hypoproteinemia because of the reduction in plasma oncotic pressure. GFR can also increase due to constriction of the efferent arteriole but decreases due to constriction of the afferent arteriole. Taken from http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn Two dates missing on a current Electronic Health Record (EHR) had led me to dig up an old one. The dates are in the allergy section and they occured three weeks apart. The source was Lisinopril and then all ACE-Inhibitors, and the reactions were 'Renal Artery Stenosis' and 'INCR CREA due to R.A.S.', respectfully. I've been told this could be the source of my kidney atrophy and the reasion I have ESRD.
Avatar f tn Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor and the mechanism of the agent is to dilate vessels to reduce hypertension. Metoprolol is in a group of drugs called beta-blockers. Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Metoprolol is used to treat angina and hypertension for high blood pressure. It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack. My regimen is Lisinopril and coreg (beta blocker).
Avatar n tn I first noticed early beats shortly after my Lisinopril dose was increeased to 20mg from 10mg, I take for mild high blood pressure. I informed my doctor about this coorelation but he dismissed it. If my research is correct, Lisinopril can take about 7 hours to begin to work in the body and reaches it's peak potency after about 12 hours.
Avatar n tn I recently was diagnosed with the above along with arryhmia and aortic and mitral valve insufficienc. I have low pressure normally so my doctor prescribed 2.5mg of lisinopril. After taking it for 5 nights I've started to experience dizziness when I get up during the night. I also wake up with a dry cough. Tuesday my blood pressure was 86/53. Is there any other treatment for this "mild" case of cardiomyopthy other than blood pressure lowering medicine?
