Avatar n tn I accidently found I have severly heightened BP. My doctor put me on Lisinopril( 10 Mlg) I have taken this med for one week and my BP is still high. I am 78 and maintain a good weight and eat well and exercise regularly. Any suggestions? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/252967'>extreme high blood pressure</a>.
Avatar m tn After you have reduced the dose, your doctor will recheck your blood pressure to see if the lower dose is keeping your blood pressure in the desired range. The typical range is 10-40mg per day for hypertension (high blood pressure), but it can be effective at the 5mg dose to maintain your blood pressure. As with many medications, some patients will respond differently; with some requiring higher and some requiring lower doses of the same drug to reach the desired effect.
Avatar f tn I have been taking lisinonpril 20 mg for blood pressure going about 7 years. The recommended starting dosage of lisinopril for people with high blood pressure is 10 mg, taken once daily. Your doctor may be increasing based on the blood pressure response and consideration to side effects of lisinopril, the dosage may be increased or decreased. For most people, the normal daily dose is 20 mg to 40 mg.
Avatar m tn Since than, she has been having a difficult time just doing everyday things like walking, cleaning etc. She also takes a high dosage of Lisinopril and Carvedilol and it seems like she is getting weaker at times. The dosage for Lisinopril is 40mg and 25mg for Carvedilol She has been taking this medication for almost 2 years now, but now she has become weaker and is more nervous now, have anxiety attacks. Is the dosage too high?
Avatar f tn Often medication takes time for the body to adjust and side effects are no longer an issue, and sometimes the dosage is reduced until the dosage for the individual is effective without side effects. Thanks for your question, and if you have any other comments or questions you are invited to respond. take care and I wish you well going forward.
Avatar f tn Would anyone here know, how long it would take lisinopril, a BP medication to remylinate the brain? I am referring to the study. Done at Stanford, where the rats with MS were given Lisinopril.
973741 tn?1342342773 If you get a good reduction and hit the 130 range for your regular blood pressure after being much higher previously, is this considered a success? Or should you increase medication and work to lower it even further?
Avatar n tn On the 30 day follow up from hospitalization and another echocardiobram I was told my heart function was up to 30%. My lisinopril went from 10 to 20 mg. On my 30 day follow-up office visit from the following cardiocatherization I was told my heart was functioning at 25% even though I was feeling better than before I had the cardiac event in December. Even though I was feeling better the doctor increased my lisinopril to 40mg. I don't get it.
Avatar n tn started 10mg lisinopril last month and have noticed a change in vision. In the past I have only required drug store reading glasses for close vision, but now I need them for reading things that are 3 - 5' away. Do your eyes adjust to this med with time, is it just something you should live with or is a change in medication required ?
630309 tn?1222446259 My physician started me on Lisinopril 20mg every day to help lower my blood pressure on 9/23. I had a follow up appointment today and he increased it to 30mg every day. Is this normal? It seems a little to soon to be increasing a medication after only taking it for 3 days.
Avatar n tn t know much about heart disease or high blood pressure but let me tell you a couple things I know about this medication. Lisinopril is used to control high blood pressure and water retention. Too strong of a dosage can cause diarrhea which can cause potassium to drop low. Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
920737 tn?1250348210 Was switched from lisinopril to amlodipine. Began Plavix. Was told that I had so many blockages/narrowings that additional surgical intervention would be fruitless. Had multiple brief blackout spells at 5 mg dosage. Reduced dosage to 2.5 mg, still having significant issues with light-headedness and angina. Reluctant to drive. I cannot tolerate beta blockers (metoprolol among others) due to similar problems with fainting and falling.
Avatar n tn Both lisinopril and Coreg are pretty strong drugs. You are taking very doses, but they certainly can be the cause of a lot of side effects. The good news is your body generally can adapt, and the drugs can remodel the heart... at least they did for me. I eventually was taking 10mg of lisinopril and 50 mg of Coreg. Headaches are definitely associated with drugs like Isosorbide (Imdur), angina meds like Ranexa and of course Nitro pills, especially if combined with alcohol.
Avatar f tn She told me to stop taking Methimazole - cold turkey, and she wants to double my Lisinopril dosage, from 20 to 40 mg ... I know that you are supposed to get off of a drug like Methimazole slowly. I didn't take my pill and a half of Methimazole this morning at 7 a.m. Today, about an hour ago, I checked my BP, and it was 170. (It does fluctuate down to around 150, however) Should I really double the Lisinopril? Go cold turkey on the Methimazole? I am seeing a new doctor next month.
Avatar n tn But within the last 4 years, I have had major heart problems so they have reduced my levoxyl dosage but, of course, the TSH went up but the T4 was in the high normal range. Anyway, now I have a high TSH (6.45) and a high T4. They are doing further studies. I have been very cold all summer and warm up when I sit in the direct sun. I am tiried, fatigue easily and don't sleep well at night. My Hg has dropped into the 9.2-9.9 level.
Avatar m tn From your test results your Free T4 was a bit lower than we normally suggest, which is middle of the range, at minimum. Your Free T3 is even lower in its range, which shows that your body is not converting T4 to T3 very well. Free T3 is the thyroid hormone that correlates best with symptoms. Many members say that symptom relief required Free T4 at the middle of its range, and Free T3 in the upper third of its range, or as necessary to relieve symptoms.
Avatar f tn We all need to find our optimal range and not just a normal range. Shoot for a lower TSH and a higher free t3 (will probably have to have t3 added in to get there) with a mid range freet4 and see how you feel? If your doctor will not check the freet3 level, then find one who will.
Avatar m tn The only medication that works from what I tried is metoprolol tartrate. I started off by taking 2x 25mg. After 1 year my cardio let me increase the dosage to 50 mg x2, but everytime I increase the dosage it seems to work perfectly for the first weeks and then again it does not work well anymore. Does body develop tolerance to beta blockers? Do you need to take more and more of this medication to get same effect?
Avatar n tn I've been on 10 mg. lisinopril for a few months. My blood pressure was about 144/88 in docs office when I started. Now it ranges from 130s/75 to 90s/60s. Usually it's about 115/73. I get dizzy sometimes - like in morning yoga when I stand up. When do you recommend reducing dosage - or maybe reducing the day before yoga? thank you.
Avatar n tn In the States I had a prescription for Lisinopril 20mg. Unfortunately, my stay got extended, and I am about to run out of that medication. Since I can't reach people or the doctor back home, could you advice which of the three I found online - Nivant 20mg, Zestril 20mg, or Lisoril 20mg, I should take. The rest don't seem to have the 20mg dose, although I could also double up on the 10mg dosage.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure does run a bit high from time to time due to chronic back pain from lumbar fusions. It climbed to 183/132 a few weeks ago, and my Internest prescribed Lisinopril. Whne I took this medication my blood pressure then dropped to 67/47. I tried taking only a 1/2 dosage and still had the same affect. I stopped taking the Lisinopril and my blood pressure returned to normal, but my pulse rate remains high.
Avatar n tn My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .
701984 tn?1236614618 Sit up a couple of minutes to let your blood pressure adjust. Lisinopril studies have been shown that Lisinopril can increase lifespan. With beta blockers, that have not been proven and sometimes a beta blocker can do harm. Atenolol does not remain at a constant level in your body. It peaks and drops. Are you taking your blood pressure three times a day and recording it? What is your blood pressure when on the meds?
Avatar m tn Hi again, Ruffman, I just took a glance at the normal range for creatinine - normal serum creatinine range for men is 0.5-1.5 mg/dL. So if the info you provided is correct or there's a calculation I'm not aware of,18.8 mg/dl seems skyrocket high. What has your doc said and what has he done to help you? The first thing I'd want is a re-test. Hopefully, someone else will step in to help out and comment.
Avatar f tn If I have been prescribed 10mg's of Lisinopril and I think that it is not working so I doubled the prescription is there anything wrong with that. Will the side affects be any different?
Avatar m tn and 2mg of lisinopril. I only take a few supplements, mostly, a multi-vitamin and joint supplement, Mirracle greens, fish oil, CLA and Protien shakes after workouts. The main problem is I have every side-effect from the Coreg. (dizziness, headache, nausea, light headed ness and worst of all I have developed ED because of the meds.) My Cardiologist wants to double my Coreg dosage to 6mg twice daily. I barely function now as it is, I've been on them for a month. I feel HORRIBLE!!
Avatar n tn I went online to check my lab results on 4-26-13 B12 542 range (211-946) on 10-14-13 4.98 range (211-946) TSH 9-5-12 1.39 range (.27 -4.2) on 9-25-13 TSH 5.5 range (.27-4.2}. All that was done was the TSH. The only one who did a tsh and free t4 was the renal doctor on 10-25-13. I reduced it from 112 mcg to 100 mcg.
