This might be more suited to another forum but the others were closed to comments. Anyways, I'm a 50 year old male that's been having some issues with altitude illness. Last year I had a bout with hypertension as well. This may have resulted from residing at high altitude I'm not sure, but my work requires me to spend time at altitude. Since I will be returning again, I would like to make acclimatization as painless as possible.
My blood pressure was around 145/80, and no telling how long that had been going on. Doc put me on 12.5mg of lisinopril with a diuretic and a statin drug. This helped, but I was totally unable to get an erection. I wasn't sexual with anyone, but that didn't seem normal. Doc prescribed 20mg of Levitra and changed me to 20mg of lisinopril without the diuretic. I used the Levitra to make sure blood still flowed to my penis, but even without it, things seemed to be more normal.
I'm a 63 yr old male, and started hypertension about a decade ago. Took Lisinopril, which knocked my systolic down from the 160s to the 140s for awhile. Recently, even with Lisinopril, was spiking close to 200. New Dr. added HCTZ (diuretic) which got it back under 150, but the 2 together make me ongoingly fatigued, and dizzy upon standing up. The new doc, nor anyone else, knows why I have such high BP.
added Vit D supplement, diet modification for triglycerides, and Lisinopril 20mg for high bp, No change in bp or vertigo...added diuretic and changed to Lisinopril/HCTZ 20/12.5, helped temporarily, but now back to where we started. Trying to figure out if we need to visit the ENT, if this is related to PAD, effects of angioplasty, or if there is someone else with similar situation who has some insight. Please share...thanks!!!
immediately prescribed triamterene and lisinopril and told me to contact an internist.. But on my insurance plan, I cannot get appt for 5-6 weeks. In the meantime, I have been reading about these medications on the internet... scary.... My mother (age 89) was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardio myopathy for which she had a successful septal ablation procedure when it was still experimental, 13 yrs ago (at Cleveland Clinic).
It will go from 175 down to 125. She takes 40mg of lisinopril 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening + a diuretic in the morning when it is high. Is this common for the elderly?
m @210 (still overweight) and on low dosages of Lisinopril (10mg), Toprol XL (25mg), and a diuretic (37.5). Over the past 4 weeks, I've experienced some morning sluggishness and ED. It's not a sudden onset; I've been very cold some nights at bedtime, had sporatic ED... and I walk 5 miles a day four or more times a week... so up to now, no one has been surprised about a pulse of 60. Only now my pulse is often @ 50 and occasionally in the mid to upper 40's.
My husband sweats a lot when exercising and playing golf. He takes Lisinopril and he has had several episodes of lightheadedness, nausea and vomiting, and low BP while playing golf. Are there other classes of anti-hypertensives that don't result in hypotension DT excessive sweating? He's also had 7 kidney stones in the last 5 months. Could Lisinopril and his excessive sweating be a contributing factor?
I am 40 year old female and was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure, around 158/104-110 on average. My doctor has put me on a diuretic, 25 mg. But it seems I am urinating less frequently than before I started taking it. Is that normal? I haven't had my blood pressure taken since starting the medication. I also started birth control medicine, Loestrogen FE and am wondering if that would be the cause of my high blood pressure?
ACE inhibitor (lisinopril)...10mg 2x, beta blocker (coreg) 12.5 2x, diuretic for about a year. Hospitalized for congested heart failure and subsequent to tests received a stent in the RCA, LAD is totally blocked but collateral vessels provide a natural bypass, and circumflex was 72% blocked...not stented.
I was diagnosed with hypertension 15 days ago. I was first put on Lisinopril which after 10 days did not bring my blood pressure down. At which point my doctor wanted to put me on Coreg CR. I have asthma, and have been suffering somewhat from shortness of breath so I had concerns being put on a beta blocker. So he put me on Norvasc. I have been on that since May 29th. My blood pressures are still running somewhat high at times. The problem is the diastolic and the heart rate.
Is the Atenolol suitable, or should I request another beta blocker? Likewise, is there a better diuretic than Chlortalidone? I keep reading about Coreg and & Demadex. Are these better options?
Cozaar: They initially wanted to put me on Lisinopril, but I was on that previously and I had a terrible, nagging cough the entire time. I've read that ACE Inhibitors are preferable to ARBs, though, when it comes to CHF.
IV steriods and epinephrine eventually started to bring the swelling down after several hours. I was ordered to stop taking my LISINOPRIL (40mg). I continued to experience large painful red welts all over my body for the next few weeks. I started taking prednisone, benedryl, zyrtec, and zantac whenever I started having further outbreaks. My doctor started me back on my LISINOPRIL due to my very high blood pressure readings. My doctor also gave me a shot of prednisone.
I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for 3 months. It works on my BP but I am coughing and my nose is running.

My questions are: (1) what more symptoms does a patient have to exhibit before they are diagnosed as having CHF (2) if she were to be diagnosed with CHF, would the treatment be any different from what they are already suggesting ? (diuretic, sleeping upright etc. ?). (3) Would the Cardiologist, for instance, take her off her Beta-Blocker (Atenelol) and put her on some other medication (Internet says ACE inhibitors are better for CHF) ?
This happened to me too! I stopped the diuretic and put on 15lbs. in few days of water. I never had this much water me when I was put on diuretics. It has been weeks and the water is not coming off no matter what I do. Did you loose your rebound edema and if so, how long? How much did you put on and loose? This is scary!
Hi everyone. For the past month or so I have been experiencing some weird symptoms and I'm not sure where it's stemming from. It started in late May. I am a college student and was stressed from finals, and noticed my hands and feet were tingling. I have never felt such a tingling before. I had no other symptoms at the time and it wasn't painful, just bizarre. I summed it up to stress since I am a high anxiety person and after a week it went away. Now in June I am worried.
