Careful here...I have no idea what your doctor will think, but if I were you, I'd be upfront about your fears...tell him "the last thing I want to end up with is an addiction; I'm concerned about how quickly I develop a tolerance to this drug." Wikipedia has a lot of info about this medicine...here is the link: http://en.

Avatar m tn In general ceftriaxone is a broad spectrum antibiotic covering gram-negative bacteria, while penicillin is narrower and covers mostly gram-positive. But in cases of streptococcal endocarditis, they are both recommended. So I think if she is improving from ceftriaxone already, I would finish the course of antibiotic with the same drug rather than switching.

Avatar n tn Recently an x-ray turned up a lesion on his right lung. A PT scan indicated a 3 x 5 cm nodule/mass in the peripheral tissue surrounding the lung. A portion which has pushed the lung inward slightly. The radiologist reported this a likely benign nodule consisting of fat. A subsequent thin needle biopsy was negative/inconclusive (I was later told a core biopsy would have been required to rule out malignancy altogether).

Avatar f tn Enlarged heterogeneous thyroid gland,2. Dominant 2.1 mass in mid right lobe 3,Dominant 3.4 X 1.8 cm mass in the left lobe. Further evaluation with thyroid scan recommended. Biopsy may be needed thereafter. I am wondering about several things, Why is there no mention of these masses being fluid or solid? it seems like this is lacking in clarity and information. Is there a significant difference in the use of the word 'mass' vs ' nodule'?
Avatar m tn I've asked this on the autoimmunity board, but I have been unable to get answers. I have popping in almost all the large joints in my body (shoulders, wrists, hips, jaw, neck). This all started three years ago (at 38 years old) with a sudden onset of joint pain. A few months later, my shoulders began to pop. This moved to my wrists and then other joints. My shoulders are the worst. They pop constantly when I stretch my arms out or lift things.

Avatar n tn Or you can look at DSM IV 299 for criteria for autistic spectrum disorders. I think it would then be useful for you to go through that with an appropriate professional to identify which parts of that criteria your daughter might fit. Take with you a list of behaviours you have noticed with your daugther that you think are autistic and also list your concerns. It is quite possible to have several autistic traits, but not enough of them in each criteria to reach a diagnosis.

Avatar f tn 9mm white matter lesion shows no contrast enhancement. No mass effect of edema. No other lesions seen. Could represent dymelination process such as multiple sclerosis, inflammation, infection or least likely nonenhancing neoplastic process. Other than the occasional migraine in the last 5 years I have had no symptoms. I had no seizures no consistent headaches or pressure. Could this be a tumor? Or is it unlikely without symptoms after 5 years? What else could it be?
