Daughter is already on Neocate and Prevacid twice daily. Doctors at hospital and GI doc said they've never seen anything like it. She has mild reflux at best. She's had endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, ph monitoring, MRI, ECHO, Biopsies of colon and esophagus, and numerous blood tests and urine tests. They can find nothing wrong with her. Now they want to put in a G-tube in a week or so. Right now she's feeding through an NG tube. I'm so upset I don't know what to do.

so they doc changed his formula to enfamil gentle ease that made him worse (he was on that for 4 days) so she put him on nutramigen and changed the zantac to prevacid. hes been on the formula for 4 days and the prec for 2 days. he is pooping better and he wasnt screaming as much but tonight he started scream at 7pm and it is now 120am and just now starting to settle down. what is wrong with him? should i still give the prev and nutram time to work its way in?

For the past few days I have been leaking a sticky yellowish liquid, what is it? I am in week 37.

Has anyone had to try more then 1 type of medicine to relieve their stomach pain from too much acid, gerd or whatever reason they are on the meds. I tried prevacid for 5 weeks and it didn't help at all. I am now trying prilosec and have been on it for a week now, It does seem to have helped somewhat but I still do have problems. I know some of my problems could be from not eating a lot. I don't know what to eat so sometimes I will skip eating which probably isn't good for my stomach.

Ive had aweful heartburn, tums arnt cutting it, my dr says i can take maalox but i was wondering if anyone knew a pill i could swallow for it?

Good start gentle plus is what our doc suggested for my daughter. It's worked great for us and is less expensive than the other brands.

For about the last three years i have not had a normal bowel movement it goes from pencil line movement to a extreme liquid movement. all this is started with a bloating feeling in my upper stomach as if my food is not digesting at all as if it sits in my stomach. this is followed up by Sulfur burps (eggy burps). after about 12 hours comes the extreme pain and cramping and then the diarrhea. and the worse flatulence i have ever heard come out of a human.

I am currently suffering from acid reflux and tried those OTC meds. Prilosec worked the best for me. However, I haven't been feeling that great and the doc prescribed Prevacid at 30mg twice a day along with 1g of Amoxil and Biaxin. My H. Pylori test came back negative so I could stop the Amoxil and Biaxin. It might take a while but he tells me it will work. On the other hand, a friend of mine had severe reflux and the doc prescribed Protonix.

Start by weighing it with 2 tsp per ounce of formula. If that isn't enough it's ok to work up to 2 Tbsp per ounce. Yes it gets thick so find a good sharp knife and cut X's in the top of the bottle nipples.

Breastfed babies tend to have loosely formed stools compared to formula fed babies, but if your baby seems happy and content, and the stool isn't completely liquid, the baby is fine. If you have concerns that your baby isn't well call your hospital or pediatrician.

I'm a 33 year old female. 3 nights ago, I was woken up by intense stomach pains (right in the bottom/center of my ribs) that felt like they were coming in waves lasting about 3-5 seconds. I was eating Gaviscon tablets all night, which helped for about 25 minutes at a time. I have absolutely NO history of stomach issues or even heartburn. I've been taking Prevacid for 2 days and its helping though I still take Gaviscon liquid in the morning and when I go to bed.

The regular ped won't switch him to solutabs??? The compounded prevacid becomes unstable in as little as two weeks. I wouldn't think you'd need a GI to switch forms of the same medicine? We started on zantac too, FAILED, then a compounded prevacid, FAILED and then finally a good dose of a PPI medicine (like solutabs) and I finally had the happy baby I always wanted!

Hello... I am posting about my daughter who is 5. She has GERD, has tested positive for H-Pylori 2x's and finished both rounds of meds and has Chronic stomach pain with a new symptom.. burning in her stomach.. She is scheduled for another EGD on the 23rd.. I think that they are going to see if she has an ulcer.. but I am wonder if there is anything else that they should be looking for. They have done blood tests (previously) for H-Pylori. Neg blood test, H-pylori (EGD)Positive biopsy.

Christine, what pills are you taking and what liquid? What autoimmune condition did the doctor mention? More specific information is really necessary to begin to give you a hand.

Well, I still have 3 months till my due date but that's okay. I have tons to do before she arrives. sweetangel7 I hope your son feels better. My last child had reflux and had to be put on Prevacid right about the same age as your son. She had the same syptoms. It was terrible. My ped said that all babies have reflux to some degree, which makes sense, since all babies eat and spit on on some level. But not all are bothered to the point of needing medication.

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.

I believe that prevacid can cause weight gain ..seems so many babies are now diagnosed with reflux we used to call it cholic and wait for it to pass now seems they put them on meds.Still your doctor would know the answer, I think its the meds and whilst you child ius on them he may gain weight.good luck once he is off the meds he may go down to a normal weight.

We've had him on Prevacid for almost a year. It used to be given to him twice a day. Now we only give it once, in the morning. We are afraid to eliminate milk or Pediasure entirely because he needs the calories. We have taken him off for a few days - but not seen improvement. In February, he had an endoscopy, and the Dr. said she took biopsies to look for allergies to milk or soy.

I've raised my head at night. I haven't tried prevacid or prilosec. My doc prescribed me zantac in august so I've continued using it. I may try one of those to see if I get any relief because the zantac really isn't working.

Maalox helps much more than tums abd the liquid is better than the chewables for me. I know its hard, but definitely worth it. Hope I could help.
