liquid methadone vs pill

I have a question that I have always wondered about Methadone, but never wanted to ask a Dr. LOL. I understand that it comes in pill form and liquid form. What is the difference between the prescribing of it? Such as, why would a Dr. prescribe you the pill form instead of the liquid form, or why would they prescribe the liquid instead of the pill? I understand Hydrocodone comes the same way.

I was wondering if anyone knew how many liquid milliliters of methadone are in a 10 mg methadone pill and if methadone comes in anything stronger than 10 mg in pill form

t matter if it is liquid or pill form...20 mgs pill form is the same as 20 mgs liquid form.Why is the pain management doctor going to decrease your amount so fast with out a taper?

I also wanted to say that methadone is also a pain pill.. so if you wanted to break away from the pain pills all together... then maybe suboxone would be the best choice.. it really does work if done properly..

I've been on methadone for 8years & I've been on liquid methadone for the past 2years & ill tell you for sure that liquid m done does eat the enamel on your teeth my dentist said it does cause I was on the pill form at 1st & never had any problem but past 2years I've been on the liquid & the stuff that's in the liquid does eat your teeth away.

HI you can get methadose from a doctor and pick it up at a pharmacy it is methadone in pill form methadone is usually liquid and is dispensed at clinics you have to go every day to get it most doctors cannot prescribe methadone hence why so many go to the clinics this is nasty stuff I was on it 6 1/2 yrs I would run the other way if someone ever offered to me again it is not a way to get around withdrawals methadone withdrawals are some of the worst you can experence your best off to detox wha

I was put on methadone 14 years ago for chronic pain. 4 years ago I was taken off of it cold turkey. In desperation a got into a methadone clinic. I'm finding that the liquid methadone doesn't seem to work on pain as the pills did. Is this In my head or is there really a difference. Also is this site for online addiction support or is it medical advice. Kind of confused on that issue.

I broke my back 20 years ago and was started on pain cocktail, which is 4 big bottles of sticky liquid. Difficult to take with you anywhere. So my doctor put me on 80 mg of Methadone a day. I dropped to six, then 4, then 2, now I'm on 1 10mg pill a day + gabapentin. I never one had any kind of withdrawals. I don't think Methadone is an evil drug. I think the Methadone CLINICS are whats evil.

My issue is that I have found out through my experience in taking liquid methadone that it helps my fibro pain for a long period of time..one dose lasts 24hrs! Also helps with my periods which have also become intolerable. I cannot find a doctor who can prescribe the methadone for my fibro. Seems as though they don't or choose not to believe me.

Sorry to be the messenger of this one but there is no magic pill or cure for this. Wd's are going to happen and Methadone can be brutal. Many people have come off methadone and they will answer this better than i can.....Do you have a quit plan in mind?? We are always here for support........

Help!!! My 25year old son is addicted to liquid Codein ( street name "Lean"). Lately he has become this very hyper and talkative person. Not sleeping. I'm very scared because the last time he stop using it he went into clodl sweats and bad stomach cramps. How can I help him to get off the drug?

so im about to lose ALL take-homes. Good news is that this is the incentive i need to get off these liquid handcuffs. The other good news is that Welbutrin and Triliptal have helped this addicted brain so much! Im not obsessing about stuff so much. Aleve helps my back aches. Wish me luck! Every time I reach for a pain pill im going to remember what a pain going to this clinic was.

I have been on a high dose of Methadone for a number of years for Chronic pain. I go to a clinic but recently asked my doctor if he would take over my care and switch me from going to the clinic, over to a time released morphine pill I can take once or twice a day. He won't write me Methadone and is reluctant to do it at all because he's never had a patient that he's had to transfer from methadone to a morphine pill before .

I quit cold turkey off 90 milligrams of liquid methadone....im starting day 5... I feel okay, I just hurt really bad, how long does it last. My body metabolizes it very fast... I did several meth levels the next day after I dosed and I always came up negative for the methadone.... does that mean that this withdrawl is almost over??? I just want to know how long it usually takes to withdraw off liquid methadone.

Hi friends! I'm so tired today. No energy. I think that I did too much this weekend? It was a great weekend but, I'm definitely paying the price. When will I get my energy back? It's like, I have no motivation today. But, I'd rather take the " no energy" vs. being chained to pills any day.

I am in the Asheville/Mars Hill area and have been in a methadone tx program for 3 years and have been advised by by counselor that since I am considering detoxing from the methadone, that I should consider using suboxone while I am detoxing. okay...you are on methadone in liquid form but you can still taper. Remember, methadone has a REALLY long half life, so the WD's take longer to kick in and can be a little more intense. If you have the will power you can taper, but there will be a little discomfort...which is NO big deal compared to living as a drug addict. Read below and then plan a LONG, SLOW, taper. You have to stick to it. You can do it!! Stay strong. I've written taper plans for oxy and norcos....not methadone.

I have been trying to get off this by myself since April. Am now on 1.5 Ml 4 times a day liquid which equals 12 mg in pill form once a day. Chemical dependency won't help me detox cause they say I am not an addict and don't qualify for their program because it was given to me for pain. I can't do this much longer and am going out of my mind. Need info on this drug and support to get off. This last bit is just too hard to do alone. Please help.

there are many here that will tell you that taking tram or methadone is switching one addiction for another one and that they are harder to get off of. I am sure some of them will chime in. I am 18 days clean and while the withdrawal was not pleasant, at 60 years of age I survived and finding my clean brain is starting to enjoy life again. I kept telling myself...YOU HAVE the FLU! It will be over and I will feel so much better. My brain seemed to get that and settled down a little.

Now, all he writes me is 3mg of xanax a day and I have to beg him for it, neurotin, which is new so I have no idea, took first pills today and I have to drive to a methadone clinic where they give me 120mg of liquid methadone every morning. Liquid methadone is not an analgesic so it has absolutely no pain relief.. Imagine how I'm feeling every day with 2 herniated discs and a ruputured disc all next to each other with nerve damage. I seriously don't know what to do.

Oh I guess I did my Methadone..But I get all the L-s (a-v) Which is the amino-acids in one pill..I never have a issue..BUT I have to get my vit/min in a liquid form..Mostly the Bs too..I seem to feel real sick on a pill if I do not eat and depending on what it is...OK Hang in they will roll in as you know....
