Avatar n tn I am 25 male and been on lipitor 20mg for almost 2 months. No side effects.
1583640 tn?1296674030 m saying that in the case of statins, the effects have been proven to NOT be accumulative. Side effects almost always present in the first 90 days. I'm sure there are some situations where that is not the case.
Avatar n tn org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/in-depth/statin-side-effects/art-20046013 This is an interesting read on statins. Some people have memory loss and others have improvement in their dementia. This is very patient dependent. Lipitor can take two week to offer the reduced cholesterol and cardiac risk that goes along with that. At one week, yes, side effects could emerge. So, please talk to her doctor. Let us know what they say.
Avatar n tn But this medication is not recommended to be taken by your own because you may miss some important side effects. Side effects include flushing, stomach upset, vomitings, headache, dizziness, liver damage in some cases.Niacin can also raise blood sugar levels in some cases. Taking the drug during or after the meals can help people to develop a tolerance to flushing and to sometimes decrease it. While you are on niacin, the effect of high blood pressure medicines may also be increased.
Avatar n tn Statin drugs are often associated with side effects including nausea, headaches, dizziness, sleep disturbances, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, shortness of breath, memory loss, liver problems, muscle weakness, muscle pain, peripheral neuropathy and cardiomyopathy due to a depletion of Coenzyme Q10. Thirteen liver failure cases and nine deaths were linked with Lipitor. In response, the FDA has recommended the addition of warnings to statin package inserts about the possibility of liver failure.
21064 tn?1309308733 I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?
10996785 tn?1432812977 No one told me about lipitor side effects. I literally felt like my body was freezing up. When I Googled it, they referenced ALS like symptoms. This really blew my mind. (spill the wine). They say it may take a month or longer to feel a little bit better. The blood work being ok is a big thing all of a sudden. I have a low grade side effect. I'm weaning off trazodone now, next neurontin, then nortripyline. Maybe. Better days ahead. Maybe...
Avatar m tn Some doctors don’t believe that statins can cause side effects such as muscle or joint pain or memory problems. Others have seen so many cases they have developed different strategies for lowering cholesterol. If your doctor isn’t taking your complaint seriously, you may need to see another doctor.
Avatar n tn What do you think this is? Do you think this could be a side effect of Lipito? Could Lipitor had damaged the muscles around the occipital nerve? Or could lipitor had damaged the occipital nerve?
620048 tn?1358018235 I saw the cardio this week and for now he wants me to remain on the lipitor - and I will, or at least I will until I have unexplained side effects. It is a controversial topic on many heart boards - I hope you do some more research on the topic and discuss this with your doctor as well.
Avatar n tn I've been on a couple of different SSRI's Paxil(generic) and now on Prozaz. I have noticed that my memory doesn't seem to be as good as it use to be. I've always attributed to getting older and having a ton more stress in my life. I've done a lot of research on SSRI side effects and have never seen anything documented about memory loss. Getting off of Paxil (if that's what you decide to do) is very difficult.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone: New to the forum here. I'm 54 years old, female, with mild hypertension (controlled by low dose of Losartan) and hypothyroid (also controlled by meds; Armour) plus GERD (I take rx Prilosec.) Since my 30's my total cholesterol has been creeping up, but my HDL was always good (70) so my doctor always told me I didn't need statins. Well, last year, my cholesterol hit almost 300. LDL was high (over 150), tryglicerides were okay, and HDL was excellent.
Avatar n tn Atypical antipsychotics can have a lot of side effects. If you think your memory problems are from the seroquel, talk to your doctor about changing your meds around. If they're for schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, you'll need to stay on some sort of antipsychotic, but different ones have different side effect profiles for different people. If it's for bipolar or as an add on for depression, you can switch drug classes entirely, which might work better for you.
Avatar f tn 20-30 years? I think he means it will start to reduce your risk in a few days. You don't have to be 70-80 years old to get heart problems. I had three bouts of MI at the age of 47. Everytime my prescription is renewed, I read the leaflet with possible side effects which is a mistake because there are so many. However, when they run trials, you will be surprised how many people state new symptoms even when taking the placebo.
Avatar f tn He insisted that I had arthritis Finally a friend suggested that I look up the side effects of lipitor on the net. It was all there and I had more than half of the symptoms on the list, severly. I have since taken my self off lipitor and have been off it now for ten weeks. I am much better but still not totally back to normal. This is potentially and dangerous drug. Beware of it and make sure that you have a good doctor. I have since changed mine.
519736 tn?1253986826 I have no knowledge of these medications, but did look up side effects of statins. If it does happen to be a side effect, how long should he wait to see if this pain resolves itself after stopping the lipitor....any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your input. I should say the clinic did give me the simvastatin first but then switched to Lipitor. They themselved said it was better. I've heard of Lipitor going generic in a few years - maybe that influenced their decision to switch patients now. I just can't understand how they can override the cardiologist without any chance of appeal. I will speak to him again and see if he thinks he should intervene.
Avatar n tn I heard too many people suffered quite a few bad side effects from that medication. My brother-in-law also suffered from muscle pain while on it.
Avatar m tn Yes ed34 you're completely right, 39 for LDL and a value of 3 in UK . By the way, as I had just started (first day) and had a bad but not severe reaction, - completely knocked out, tired all day among other side-effects I don't think I'm a good candidate for this drug. There must be another way or medication that can raise HDL.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone else is dealing with the following side effects due to taking benzo's and if anyone has found a way to alleviate any of them.
Avatar n tn There are other drugs and each and every one has basically the same side effects BUT not all are always experienced by every person ... also many even though a factor, are not experienced to the same degree. You might take this up with your Oncology Team in detail. You should remember though that this may be totally unrelated to Arimidex or any other aromatase inhibitor. Regards ....
