Avatar n tn I think they are in the same drug class, I've taken both with the similar results. As I recall, I was changed from lipitor to simvastatin because simvastatin isn't as strong a statin because of some very strong congestive heart meds that impact the liver and kidneys. Factors that can change liver functions include weight gain, alcohol consumption, exercise levels and diet, so it takes a health professional, which I'm not, to ferret out cause for blood test changes.
172023 tn?1334672284 I felt this is important to be aware of. I don't recall seeing much in the news about it.
Avatar f tn I heard on the morning news that there will be a world wide recall of Toyota Prius 2010 models. Im wondering how much money they have? Cause they are gonna lose tons of it. And it will be interesting to see what happens to their good name on the other end of this. Do you have one? In light of what has happened would you buy another, or for first time buyers is this enuff to turn you away from Toyota altogether.
1330108 tn?1333677304 Another recall is Summer Infant Baby Monitors. Two infants died when the cord got wrapped around their necks. However I believe the parents should not have put the monitors so close to their baby's bed that they could strangle themselves. The monitors are being recalled to improve the safety label on the product; there is no product default. Please use common sense when using products that have cords. My heart is just broken for those dead infants.

Avatar n tn Its looks to me that I am losing my fat and muscles after being on metformin and asprin which I started in November 2004. I had been on Synthroid on last 18 years and lipitor (10 mg) for last 4 years. The dose of metformin is 300mg, 1 tablet 3 times a day. Synthroid is 125 (micro-mg) 1 tablet a day. I take my Synthroid early in the morning and metmorphin after meals and lipitor in the night. It looks like for the last 3-4 months my weight has come to 55kg. I think last year my weight was 59kg.
Avatar f tn Drs said it was caused by taking Lipitor. He had history of a fatty liver also. The evening before he passed away, my husband was visiting him and when he was leaving and walking down the hallway he heard my pap coughing. My husband went back into the room and gave him a tissue. When he stopped coughing he asked my husband to throw it away. My husband was alarmed when he seen the tissue filled with what looked to be coffee grounds. He went to the nurses station and told them.

Avatar n tn d the last injection at the end of December 2010. The lab tests at 01/25/2011 and at 02/08/2011 showed no viruses in my body. What I'm worrying about is that doctor prescribes to me to take Lipitor and Folbee tablets for everyday. However, taking them I feel drowsiness, dizziness, diarrhea (sometimes), weakness and stomach pain. I've an appointment bimonthly and my doctor takes my blood for his research study (I signed as a participant), but he doesn't explain any results to me.
1583640 tn?1296674030 I've been taking 80 mg of Lipitor for 10+ years for my heart without any problems. Recently I began experiencing debilitating muscle cramps and spasms in my upper thighs. I can literally feel the muscles rolling and tightening under my skin. Nothing helps them. They occur mostly at night, but bending my leg too much can also trigger an attack. My pharmacist says its from the Lipitor. My doctor says its from Vitamin D and Magnesium deficiencies.
Avatar f tn That is a very good point, Dennis. I do recall that I stopped taking the Omega Fish oil (3-6-9 balanced) (gelcaps) about 2 weeks before my liver biopsy because I had read that it could cause some problem with bleeding so I did not want any in my system when I had the biopsy. The doc never said I had to stop and neither did the pharmacist, but I did anyway just to be safe.
Avatar n tn I started thinking back, since menopause, I started on several meds, on of which was lipitor. Not one doctor said it could be the lipitor i was taking causing the hives. On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??
Avatar m tn //www****.com/ds/lipitor/hair%20growth%20abnormal/ My question is, has anyone else taking Lipitor experience this? How do you stop this 'hair growth' ? Is there an alternative to Lipitor? Thank you!
10996785 tn?1432812977 The doctor then asked about my lipitor. She told me that lipitor has a bad side effect that can permanently damage muscles in your body, that can lead to kidney failure. I'm not saying Lipitor is bad. It does have this side effect that can effect a small amount of people. However, I without a doubt, feel as if this is my problem. Lipitor and Trazodone have combined to almost stop me in my tracks. I realize that some people may not like the talking about lipitor in this way.
Avatar f tn My husband was recently taken off of Lipitor and has been experiencing daily headaches. He's not a headache person. Is this a common thing when coming off Lipitor? Also, I have read that you should stop it gradually. Is this true?
Avatar n tn However, through exercise he developed calaterals around his 100% block LAD artery. He has been on Lipitor since initial MI and had the dose increaed since last angiocather test 3 years ago. He is 67 and has increasing fatigue, weight loss and muscle tone decline. He is able to work (farmer) but is increasinly fatigued. I want him to stop the Lipitor. Am I correct? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
678451 tn?1226425977 I have just started on Lipitor for what has been determined to be a genetic predisposition to High Cholesterol level. The physician wishes that I be maintained on 10 mgs. daily. However the Rx. was written for 40 mgs, to take one half tablet every second day(since the cost of procuring the 40 mg tablet is significantly lower). Will taking 20 mgs every second day give me the same benefit of 10 mgs daily. Or, is it best to take the medication daily as oppose to every second day.
