lipitor

MY FAMILY DOCTOR FINALLY ARRIVED AT THE SOLUTION IT WAS LIPITOR CAUSING MY PROBLEM. IT WAS. AFTER LEAVING LIPITOR OFF I LOST 13 POUNDS. IN TWO DAYS I SEEMED TO IMPROVE IN EVERY WAY BUT MY LEGS. THEY ARE WORSE . I CAN HARDLY WALK. I HAVE LOTS OF MUSCLE SPASMS AND ODD FEELINGS IN MY LEGS. I PRAY THAT YOU CAN ADVISE ME WHAT TO DO. I AM A FEMALE, 75 YEARS OLD AND ALWAYS VERY ACTIVE IN LIVING A GOOD LIFE. THESE LEGS ARE SURELY GETTING MY MAY.
My dad has been on Lipitor for years. His only complaints have been the "weak in the knees" feeling he gets once in a VERY great while - Dr's suggestion is to go off of it for a while till he feels ok then he goes back on it with no problems for a long time again...... he has his blood checked routinely and nothing has ever shown up. Sometimes it takes up to a week or two before he feels "normal" again.
They occur mostly at night, but bending my leg too much can also trigger an attack. My pharmacist says its from the Lipitor. My doctor says its from Vitamin D and Magnesium deficiencies. I think she's too close to the situation and would like to consult another doctor, but don't know what kind of specialist to see about muscle problems. Any suggestions?
my thyroid levels are now under control. i am experiencing major fatigue, my leg muscles wont let me stand long due to weakness, i have insomnia, i have not been able to work since march. my nero doc has ran an mri which showed normal. an emg which showed muscle deteriation, 2 muscle biopsies which showes muscle degeneration, a genetic opmd and myotonics which came back neg. i have been tested for myastia gravis and was neg. lupus which was neg. my tpo runs high, my ck within normal range.
What type of leg/arm weakness do you experience? I have heard many experience more of a muscle fatigue where their leg or arm feels like it is weighed down with cement. My weakness is more of a "shakiness" or where my legs feel like jello or wobbly. They do not feel "heavy". Actually, there are times where my whole body feels like it's shaking, but it's only visible in my hands. Is there different types of weakness in MS or do you experience different types?
I get these flushes of heat, and cold sweats at night, thats when its at its worst. My legs are very weak and achey and feel very heavy to move. I have a sore throat that comes and goes. I feel very light headed all of a sudden, like im about to faint and then go shakey and cold with a hot flushed red face. I think then my heart starts to thump and i need to sit. This could last for days until it dies down again but then seems to return at any given time. Is there for this condition?
C7 I do have numbness down my left are and 2 fingers, but I also have muscle weakness, down my leg and numbness on he left side of my face, cheek and nose, eye, lip. I've lost 20 pounds since January, I was weighing 150 when the lipitor was prescribed and not excercises regularly . I stopped the lipitor after seeing side effects of this drug, I am watching my diet and taking supplements. Could the lipitor be causing these symptom?
I know that some cholesterol lowering meds can cause muscle weakness (I think mostly in the legs). Is there any chance that something else is causing the symptoms? I'm not a doctor, but is that a typical treatment for PSVT and a failed ablation?
I have been having progressively extreme leg/arm numbness, lack of circulation, almost impossible to lie down, legs burn and go to sleep. Difficulty with joints (and pain), muscles "lock up" with the slightest movement. Dizziness and weakness upon walking. Had diabetes test, MRI of lower back, blood tests, heart tests, neurology test of legs. Results a little high on diabetes and neuropathy, but not extraordinary enough to diagnose as a problem.
I am concerned, now because in the past two to three weeks he has complained that his legs feel very weak and tired. He describes it as they do not move easily. He thinks this is due to extra use, however, the only thing different than usual exercise is kayaking, which takes upper body muscles. Is there a relationship to leg pain or fatigue and diabetes or high blood pressure? Is this something I should encourage him to discuss with his doctor?
Over the last 8 months I have developed non-stop muscle pain and weakness in my lower extremities, hands and forearms. The pain in my legs is constant and varies in intensity to the point were I cannot walk without painkillers. I am 75 lbs overweight with high cholesterol, hypertension (controlled from onset), and GERD. At first my internist thought I was having a bad reaction to the cholesterol drug Lipitor and removed me from it (3 months ago). This had no effect.
I stated I had pain in neck wrists ankles and knees but I also have weakness in knees wrist and neck fatigue that makes me want to lay my head against something for support. I cannot walk any distance without knees and ankles weakening that it frightens me that I will not be able to continue to walk any further. The left side spasticity was not correct. I have been told this by a neurologist who states it is orthostatic tremor. Would this be caused by a disc problem in my neck?
I was put on lipitor and was taken off in Oct of this year after a few months because of muscle pain and weakness in legs. Is there something else causing these similar symptoms to PN? Thank you for your help.
May 9,2007 sent to hospital with severe back and leg pain and weakness. Lipitor stopped. May 14, sent to nursing home. Caught C-diff treated with Vancomycin. Caught UTI infection treated with Cipro. Became incontinant from May 9 on and remains so. Weakness and pain are gone. Saw Uro/gynocologist July 20. Diagnosis: Neurogenic bladder. No tests (neurological, x-ray, MRI, etc.) other than a physical were done. Is there a connective cause between Lipitor and Neurogenic bladder?
His doctor started him on Lipitor 20 mg. After a few months he can hardly move-- his joints ache and he is getting new joint injuries daily-- (knuckels are swelling--arm muscle injury won't heal--).. His doctor stopped the meds, waited a week, then started at lower dose. Same results, He went from a vibrant energetic man to a slow limping man in a few months. What injuries is this medication doing to his joints? Might they be permanent? Does the Lipitor dissolve the calcifications?
In addition, if you are suffering continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in leg, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away. Further referral to a physiotherapist for spinal exercises could be beneficial and may produce relief of symptoms. Hope this helps. Take Care & Stay Healthy!!!
In May I experienced muscle pain and weakness along with ankle pain in my right leg. I take lipitor 40 mg. I thought it was from the lipitor (I have experienced muscle pain before, been on lipitor for 8 years) My doctor did a blood test CPK levels were slightly elevated. Then in mid June I developed foot drop again anf numbness on top of my right foot, great toe and the next two toes as well as the top of my foot.
Hello, my brother had a heart bypass (CABG) a year ago, and he has had "undiagnosed" leg weakness and dizzyness that disables him completely...He can't stand, and must be bedridden during these episodes. He feels like he is about to faint, and gets severe dizzyness, and then his legs go weak. Sometimes, he has difficulty breathing and spits up a frothy sputum that has specks of blood. He also gets chronic saliva (heavy) before and after eating. His ankles are a bit swollen.
I had muscle weakness in my legs and arms, severe knee pain, pain in feet, and left side pain. I have been off Lipitor for 2 months and all symptoms have gone away except severe chronic pain in both feet. Several people have told me it sounds like peripheral neuropathy. I am 49 yrs old with no medical problems other than high cholesterol. Could the pain be from damage from the Lipitor or would something else cause such severe pain in my feet?
There is also weakness in that leg. Now, 2 years later the numbness has moved to my right thigh as well, and the weakness and pain seem to be increasing in my left leg. There is also needle like pain occasionally. Standing more than 10 minutes is becoming a real problem. The numbness is constant but not the pain. Clothing or touching is not painful. The numbness in my right leg began after I was hospitalized because of high blood pressure that wouldn't respond to treatment.
I have been experiencing aches in lower legs sometimes they feel really heavy and I feel really weak, I went to my Primary and he sent me for esr and cpk, I havent heard anything from him, so Im assuming everything ok. My question is, can this achiness and sometimes pain in lower legs, tie into the valves? or is it something else to deal with? Any advice would be great! thanks for your time!
I take Atenolol and Lotrel for HBP and is consistantly 136/68. My cholesterol was off the charts and began a regimine of Lipitor in 2001. Within a few months I had severe muscle pain and loss of strength. I was taken off Lipitor. My current LDL is about 180 and use Flax Oil and Niacin supplements daily. Since beginning Lotrel in 2007 I have had a recurrence of severe muscle pain and weakness.
My grandmother was put in the hospital this past Monday with high fever(102),diareha,vomiting,sever leg pain in both legs as well as heavyness in the legs. She is unable to stand for longer than 2 minutes and she has to use a walker. This woman was strong and full of life a month ago and then all of a sudden she fell ill. She did have back surgery in January of this year to clean out some calcium deposits in her nerve channel but all went well.
Within days of initial shots, I started to experience numbness in legs and feet. Also developed cold/flu like symptoms within one week. Within two weeks, numbness had encompessed entire body to include lower extremities, groin, trunk, arms, face, scalp. Getting minor fasciculations in abdomen, burning sensations on skin surfaces, intermittent Lhermitte's Sign when flexing neck. Some fatigue and muscle weakness. I had MRI of brain & C-spine with contrast - OK. EMG/NCS OK.
Trying to figure out if this lightheadedness is due to my neck problems or maybe something else. premenopause? something else? Medications I take are celebrex, lipitor, ambien.
But it was like my mind didn't have control of my legs. I may have staggered into the wall but I knew that my feet were not going the right way and that something was wrong and felt a moment of panic I take premerin for hot flashes and Lipitor. Any idea what could have happened. .
My father, is 65 years and he was recently put on Lipitor. He has severe muscle pain and tenderness on his foot. He immediately discontinued using Statins. But he still feels pain and does not eat anything. He has become very weak. How long does it take to get the pain away and to get back to normal. Is the damage of skeletal muscles permanent? We are very nervous about his condition? Please help understand his condiction. Thanks!
But, of course, they don't let that info out because Lipitor is one of big Pharma's best cash cows. I was on Lipitor and had a reaction to it. Now I have ALS/MS symptoms (undiagnosed). Red yeast rice is no better for lipid control since it too is a statin - a natural one.
I had been able to control it some with exercise and diet but since i've been feeling so tired and having weak legs I have kind of let that go. So, since I remember reading something a couple of years ago about statins possibly being benificial in ms......I finallly caved, and let him start me on zocor last month. I went for a routine visit to the ms clinic last week and told them about the zocor. WELLL.... it seems that there WAS some promising research so a very large study was started.
