lipitor

519736 tn?1253986826 My husband was prescribed generic lipitor about a year ago. Prior to this he was advised to use Slo Niacin. When he began the lipitor, his dr. did not tell him to stop taking the Slo Niacin. He has been taking them together daily. Last week he experienced more frequent, loose bowels, but did not feel "sick"..This went away and he started to have muscle pain in the chest and upper back and his legs..that began 3 days ago. The muscle pain is preventing him from getting any sleep.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your input. I should say the clinic did give me the simvastatin first but then switched to Lipitor. They themselved said it was better. I've heard of Lipitor going generic in a few years - maybe that influenced their decision to switch patients now. I just can't understand how they can override the cardiologist without any chance of appeal. I will speak to him again and see if he thinks he should intervene.
Avatar n tn s more of which one your body will tolerate the best. Different brands seem to show different side effects in many people. Lipitor in some women have produced breast pains or enlargement and even the manufacturers cannot explain that one. Still, I suppose it's cheaper than plastic surgery. Some statins cause abdominal pains in some people, or nausea or serious muscle cramps and even damage.
874521 tn?1424116797 So many medications we take are available in generic and mostly I get the name brand because I fear the generic ones may not work as well as the brand name. You can save a lot of money on the generics but if they do not work well what is the use of the savings. So look for the post and list the generics you have done well with.
Avatar m tn there is both tdf and etv generic at very low price (tdf from 21usd per month) in many asian countries etv lost patent so etv generic should be available soon in US while tdf might take few years
Avatar m tn I lost my medical insurance and need help with maintaining my prescription of Trileptal. I was told that the internet coupons may not be available in Maine where I live. Other assistance, maybe directly from manufacture? Only need assistance for 6 mos.
Avatar f tn I just ordered more Cymbalta from Canada who in turn orders it from India. I always get the generic duloxetine from them but this time I also got duvanta.
Avatar f tn I went to CVS store, it cost 1000 USD to 30/300mg for Viread Tablet. is it too expensive? The staff there told me generic tablet is not available. But why I see it online as I said earlier? What happens if I take brand and then switch to generic like a year later? Will the generic medicine do the same? Thank you.
Avatar n tn With so many statins available for clinical use in coronary artery syndromes, there has been much discussion about which is the best. Two recent trials have compared the clinical outcomes of intensive lipid lowering with atorvastatin 80 mg/day and standard lowering with pravastatin 40 mg/day.
Avatar n tn But can find no source for it in the Philippines. Not in Cebu, not in Manila. I have a pharmacy in Canada that can provide it, but it has to be shipped in ice and can take 5 days to arrive. Fed Ex won't take it. Neither will UPS. Have to use Canada Post which "promises" 4 days. But if it gets stalled in customs, it will lose its potency. Can't find in Hong Kong or Singapore either. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn Generic Levothyroxine is not held to the same quality standards during manufacture that Synthroid is. Every time you get your perscription refilled you are taking the risk of taking a different strength of medication. That's why it's cheaper, and that's why smart doctors won't perscribe it. Lipitor should not be taken by anyone taking Levothyroxine, either. As for the superiority of socialized medicine, don't even start.
Avatar m tn I seen my cardiologist today and he found out Bystolic is not available here in canada. I guess it didn't pass our food and drug regulations, so now Im going to try almighty- (Acebutolol) 200mgs twice a day if that doesn't reduce pvc palpitations, bump it up to 400 mgs twice a day.. Im finally going to find out what all the hype is about and if this drug actually works that many people claim. I see the cardio dr.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the response I wil ask my PMP next time I see him if these meds are available in Canada yet. Does anyone know what has been safe to use during pregnancy? We have been trying to conceive our second and are afraid that this might make symptoms worse. Does anyone know?
Avatar f tn They are naturally found in some fruits, vegetables, vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, and legumes. They are also available in commercially prepared products such as margarine (Promise Active™ and Benecol), orange juice (Minute Maid Premium Heart Wise), rice milk (Rice Dream Heart Wise™), as well as dietary supplements (Benecol SoftGels and Cholest-Off). The margarines cost about five times what ordinary margarines cost.
2121656 tn?1395674749 Dr. Schiano, Hi there! I'm thankful for this site to get a insight into understanding medical diagnoses. Before I get started, I would like to thank you for all you do and taking the time in reviewing my post. Well, I'll start with telling you a little about my health. I've type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high trig. (hereditary on mother's side). I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis. Due to the diabetes and high cholesterol I was taking metformin 500 mg.
Avatar m tn Finally, the PF people at Pfizer told me that while the firm recommends that the Lipitor pills NOT be broken in half or cut in half, they do say that it is perfectly okay to do this under doctor's prescription or recommendation, and that there is no negative downside at all to cutting Lippy in half. However, they do recommend not breaking them if no need to. So there. Case solved. Happy camper I am.
Avatar n tn Sorry. I forgot to ask if your Dr did a fasting blood sugar test. You have to fast for at least 12 hours. Even if you have a little milk with coffee before the test it can raise your blood sugar levels.
Avatar f tn I had read that a generic oxy from a different pharamcutical company would react as you stated. I also heard that Purdue was not going to have a new make up of the drug complete until 2009 or 2010 (I thnk) I will look for the artcles again, and if I find them I will PM to you.

612551 tn?1450022175 t have a regular appt, made 3 months in advance, I see the nurse practitioner or whatever other doctor is available at the cardiology practice I go to.
Avatar n tn This med is generic for Lipitor, as you probably already know. I've researched and there is nothing about anger problems. The best thing to do is ask your Dr or pharmacist if this could be a possible interaction. When did you start the Zoloft? I'm asking because anger and personality chances could be a side effect of this med.
Avatar m tn Generic Lipitor Recall http://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/news/20121126/generic-lipitor-recall?
Avatar m tn You can exchange the prescription at the pharmacy for the Brand Name, I did that when they tried to switch me from Lipitor with some generic made in India, which I refuse to take because of quality control issues.
Avatar f tn how soon can offshore pharmacies (perhaps those based in India) make the generic entecavir (Baraclude) available to consumers? This would be a saving grace for those seeking a combination therapy with Baraclude and Viread.
382218 tn?1341181487 That's Cool! I'm still waiting for the funding to come through between the pharm co. and whatever federal programs might fill in. My insurance will cover NOTHING unless it's generic. I was supposed to get my 1st infusion last week. We'll see what happens this week.
