lipitor

Avatar n tn I have just started to experience severe leg cramps, leg tiredness and soreness. After this much time, is it possible to develop these symptoms???
Avatar n tn We both - husband and wife, have been experiencing these symptoms. We have been on simvastatin for (wife for 1+ years, me for 2+ years) and stopped about 5-6 months ago - wife still having pains in the butt some dizziness and leg pain, but getting better - I am having butt pain and leg pains, swollen left knee, (but joint pain seems OK on stairs), recovery seems slower than my wife's.
Avatar n tn I have been on Lipitor for about 8 years and started having leg pain and many muscle aches. Dr wanted an ultrasound for blood clots since I recently had surgery. Thank goodness there was no blood clots. SO I asked my dr if she thought it could be the lipitor. She never even thought about it. So she agreed and and I went off of Lipitor for 2 weeks and the pain almost stopped.
Avatar f tn Over the years the symptoms increased, and I now have severe lower back and neck pain, joint pain (especially knees) and my RLS has become more pronounced. I now have the symptoms beginning much earlier in the day, so have had to increase the use of Sinemet. I now believe the Lipitor may be the cause of my "restless leg syndrome" and also the cause of these other aches and pains that are becoming much worse.
329994 tn?1301663248 This is a question to those of you with CFS. I have been having aches in my ankles and legs, hard to describe but an all over aching and I have to move them around to make it feel better. My cardio doc thought it might be the Lipitor and it did get better off the Lipitor but hasn't gone away. I do notice it during the day but more at night when I am lying in bed. I just wonder if this is a symptom of CFS? Do others have it?
Avatar f tn Did you have your magnesium levels checked? Red blood cell magnesium test and serum test. Statins can cause leg pain due to magnesium deficiency. Are you taking CoQ10? Statins deplete CoQ10 as does simple aging. B12 sublingual may help along with taking a B complex. Most if not all medications deplete vital nutrients like Metformin reduces B12. Look into nutrients depleted by medications. You may find out that many of our medical problems are just nutrient deficiencies or are out of balance.
Avatar n tn I had to come off of Lipitor after one week due to severe muscle and joint pain. My mother had moderate pain after starting Lipitor. We were both encouraged by our separate physicians to take coenzyme Q10 with the Lipitor. While my pain continued, my mother's pain has almost completely disappeared.
Avatar n tn headache, constipation/diarrhea, upset stomach and stomach pain, muscle and joint pain and rash. These varies from one patient to another. It could be that the rash you experienced looked like hives. (Although stress can also lead to hives). You can relate your experience at this link to the manufacturers to better address it : http://www.lipitor.com/about-lipitor/side-effects.aspx Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn He is on maximum medication and has been doing relatively well until about 2 months ago when he started noticebly dragging his right leg and not swinging his right arm. He is also loosing function in his right hand. His cardiologist did a CT scan of the head which was normal, ruling out stroke or brain bleed. His bloodwork was normal. A nuclear stress test has been done & we will receive those results in 2 days. Any thoughts on what could be causing this new symptom?
Avatar m tn Hi all, My father had a triple by pass surgery about 18 months ago, and has been taking Lipitor, Perondopril and Atenolol. He's been getting abnormal hair growth on one side of his leg and back and chest since he's been on Lipitor, and Perondopril. I googled to see what I could find, and found this site saying that Lipitor can cause abnormal hair growth. http://www****.com/ds/lipitor/hair%20growth%20abnormal/ My question is, has anyone else taking Lipitor experience this?
Avatar n tn There are a number of reasons to have leg cramps and different types of leg cramps. I dont think the development of cramps in the legs would have any relationship to stents in the blood vessels of the heart. If there is any relationship beyond coincidence, perhaps it is that medications like diuretics to treat hypertension and heart disease can cause dehydration and electrolyte disturbances which can predispose one to night time cramps.
Avatar m tn i have this neck back and chest pain do you think i have because i take lipitor 40 mg pleae let emknow .
329994 tn?1301663248 It bothers me all day but seems worse at night. It is not the twitching of Restless Leg Syndrome and is not relieved by movement. It does seem to worsen if I do my walking or line dancing. I called my cardio doctor because I thought maybe it was Peripheral Artery Disease (my cardio doc thought the circulation in my legs was low), so he tested me with ultrasound but that came back normal. A technician performed the test and I never talked to my doctor.
Avatar n tn If hypothyrodism can cause high cholesterol is it not better to take thyorid hormone replacement than Lipitor?
Avatar f tn I stopped the lipitor 3 days ago and the pain in my legs has stopped and feet are some better. I go to the dr. soon so I will tell her. I have stopped the lipitor before for a few days and gotten back to normal.

Avatar f tn t know the reason of the shoulder pain. But my husband thinks that this is happening becoz of Liptor . He stopped taking lipitor and trying to take some Ayurveda medicine . He still complains about the should pain. Please advise.
Avatar n tn Two days ago I walked around NYC and had pain in first my left and then my right leg...it was bad enough that I soaked in a tub to get rid of it. So I had nerve sensations now in both hands on and off and now my legs. My Doctor has me tested for liver function...everything ok...kidneys through urine...everything ok.... He even tested for syphillis.....because of the spots.....ok but he is retesting. I saw him today and he is testing CPK for possible Lipitor problems. I am off Lipitor.
Avatar n tn Although mild muscle pain is a relatively common side effect of statins, some people who take statin medications to lower their cholesterol may have severe muscle pain. This intense pain is a symptom of rhabdomyolysis,a rare condition that causes muscle cells to break down. This does not make your muscle tissue "mushy", it just causes cells t breakdown.
Avatar f tn My husband was recently taken off of Lipitor and has been experiencing daily headaches. He's not a headache person. Is this a common thing when coming off Lipitor? Also, I have read that you should stop it gradually. Is this true?
Avatar m tn My husband is having a warm sensation in his left leg and foot. He wonders what this could be?He has high chloresterol level. Would this have anything to do with it? He's never had this feeling before. He does take Lipitor for his chloresterol.Occasionally has Hernias.
Avatar n tn Im feeling the same way, I have bad pain on my left piriformis muscle. I had only taken Lipitor for one week.My pain is severe. After you stopped taking lipitor, How soon did it take until your pain went away.
10996785 tn?1432812977 Like you, I pulled myself off of Lipitor (atorvastatin) because of muscle and joint weakness/pain and other recorded side effect. I had only taken it for about five weeks and the discomfort remains three weeks later. I had the same reaction to simvastatin, which I am told is the worst of the bunch. I'm waiting a few months and then I will try something with a less violent track record.
10996785 tn?1432812977 s from detox, pneumonia, and a stroke. with the stroke, which is considered small and deep in my cerebellum, my vision and balance was effected. My balance was already damage from the benzo's and alcohol abuse. Lately some of you might have read my last thread that I haven't been feeling well. Actually I haven't felt well for a very long time. I did see my PCP yesterday and we all agreed that the trazodone was the one med that was making me very sluggish.
Avatar f tn There is much controversy about cholesterol, but it is muted because of pharmaceutical financial interests in statins. Half of those who die of strokes or heart attacks have no history of high cholesterol. DeBakey discounted cholesterol. My own doctor pays no attention to it. What is the true role of cholesterol and how should one proceed? I don't know, but I won't take Lipitor.
519736 tn?1253986826 My husband was prescribed generic lipitor about a year ago. Prior to this he was advised to use Slo Niacin. When he began the lipitor, his dr. did not tell him to stop taking the Slo Niacin. He has been taking them together daily. Last week he experienced more frequent, loose bowels, but did not feel "sick"..This went away and he started to have muscle pain in the chest and upper back and his legs..that began 3 days ago. The muscle pain is preventing him from getting any sleep.
