it sounds like you are having a reaction to one of your meds check them out online. go to google and type in the med and see if one can cause the reaction. i don't think it is liver or kidney but diabetes can cause itching. call your doc.
You know I have the same problem and I didn't have a name for this itching and burning in my hands and feet, until I read your letter. Please if you find any help please post and I will do the same. It least I have somewhere to start now.
My father experiences intense itching primarily on his legs and feet that disturbs his sleep. The interesting thing is that there is no visible rash. However, it has become extremely problematic, since he suffers many sleepless nights. It is driving him crazy throughout the night and the sleep depravation is really taking a toll on him with him being seventy one years old and having bypass surgery eight years ago. He also experiences restless legs.
when I am hypothyroid, my muscles and joints ache; statins, like Lipitor, can and often cause liver enzymes to rise and also cause muscle aches; rotator cuff problem in the shoulder can cause pain needing physical therapy and sometimes surgery to cure. Then, to make matters more difficult, is the fun of getting older and having the body need more maintenance!

It is very common with us. I went on Lipitor and it helped greatly. My doctor monitors my enzymes and if they start to spike we'll try something else. Look for Mike Simon's threads on this they are very informative. Statins are our friends we just have to be more careful.
Bruising and bleeding caused by coagulation problems. Gynecomastia, enlarged breasts in males. Jaundice and itching. Infections. Severe weight loss. Not all patients will experience all of these complications. I can't comment of statins as I have no experince with them. In general... For anyone having cirrhosis they should consult with their hepatologist before treating any other health issue as it could complicate maintaining the health of the liver.
If I do any physical activity my hands and feet will turn very red and be very hot and I can feel the heat radiating off my hands and feet. If I am outside and the weather is hot and I am wearing flipflops my feet will get beat red and so will my hands. I dont feel any pain but it is uncomfortable because i can feel something happening in my feet and even my legs. If i take a hot shower my feet and legs become beat red and my legs get blue even and I dont know why.
If you're gay or lesbian and had a heart attack at a young age plz reply. I'm scared and angry.
At about 4 months after surgery, I changed statin and antacid medicines to Lipitor (80) and Nexium. Two weeks later, I started experiencing mild aching in the upper chest/esophogus area--a mild form of my heart attack/angina symptoms. I switched back to Aciphex at that time, but remained on Lipitor. At the six month after surgery point, I underwent a stress radionuclide test and another heart catheterization (required by my job). Both tests showed no problems.
For example, an older person may begin taking Lipitor for high cholesterol and Prilosec for acid reflux. These two medications can cause tinnitus as an adverse effect. This individual also is has seasonal allergies causing frequent nasal congestion, another cause of tinnitus. In addition, the natural aging process can cause deterioration of the cochlea in the inner ear which can cause or contribute to the development of ringing ears.
I have been on prilosec BID for 3 years, for GERD, and lipitor for cholesterol. However, I get bouts of severe stomach distress that presents as eggy, foul-tasting burping, then stomach cramping, bloating and nausea. It is pretty debilitating for a whole day, and makes me feel horrible. Bentyl doesn't help much, nor does Gaviscon. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this?? Is it the pylorus, or lactose intolerance...something totally different that my doctor and I are missing?
I went to a Gastroenterologist twice and he thought it was Pruritus Ani and prescribed Analpram HC and Suna Ointment - it did not work. I was drinking about 1/2 bottle of wine each evening but I quit several weeks ago and there has been a noticeable improvement but it still persists. I have tried everything imagineable - Aveeno bath, Tronolane, Miconazole, Lotrimin, diaper rash ointment, anti-itch creams, Benadryl gel and it goes on and on.
However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
Yes, I am taking Lipitor and Finasteride, but these annoying problems go back years before I took any medication.
Also, a lot of your symptoms could be motor neurone disease. There are 3 types of this and one causes the wasting you described and the tearing up, and actually a lot of the other symptoms. I would read up about that too. I hope you get a diagnosis soon, I know what it's like living with the stress of not knowing what you have. It sounds as if you are putting up with something very nasty indeed and I wish you the best of luck in finding treatment.
I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
It's been a year that I've had itching in my palms and no matter how many different cortisones I used, my palms are still red and itching. Saw 2 different dermatologists and one told me eczema and the other psoriasis. My PC ran many tests, and my hepatic panel is normal, my anemia profile is in range, all my chemistry numbers are ok, eosinophils high. I have vitamin D deficiency and B12 borderline, and tested positive for AMA antibodies 107.
Someone mentioned to me that I could have Lupus, and that it is highly prevalent among Native Americans and Latinos, both of which are my heritage. I am just tired. This rash will not go away and a fever usually accompanies it. Can you give me any insight?
If I bent my knee near its maximum extent (such as when kneeling, crouching or climbing into bed), I experienced an incredibly painful tearing/burning sensation in the area of my patellar tendon. I would immediately react and straighten my knee and the pain would completely dissipate within several minutes. Afterward the area would feel about 50% numb, as if injected with a mild local anesthetic that was slowly wearing off, for several hours.

At my last blood test the numbers were 71 and 51. I'm also on 81 mg asprin and Plavix, and was switched from Toporol XL to Atenolol when I complained to my cardiologist that I was having problems concentrating. I'm still not back to 100% but it helped quite a bit. Early on I found the meds were making me very tired and in addition to my GP backing them off a little, I started taking them at night. Also, from what I read, the cholesterol drugs work their magic best when you are asleep.
Burning skin (feels like you just jumped into a 500 degree oven), itching skin, bright red blotches where the burning skin was, the itching and burning on every part of my body that had hair, clothes on it, or skin touching skin, and the only way to cool myself off was to step into a ice cold shower...which only helped stop the symptoms for short while. The symptoms you are getting are NORMAL. That's why we only take it JUST BEFORE GOING TO BED.
Lopressor, Diazide/Maxide, Lipitor, and Levothyroxine. My BP usually runs ~115/73 HR 75. (Due to Lopressor, Diazide/Maxide - keeps it low.) Before meds it ran very high at 165/102 HR 110 for a couple of years. For the last couple of weeks though every couple of days my heart rate can range from 53 to 101, BP don't change much. "Each" for a couple days then my normal 75 for a few days. The numbers don't bother me but, the symptomsdo. It just seems crazy.
Behind my ears is severe and my chest itches but is not severe with rash breakout. The worst itching comes in my shoulders and thighs and behind my ears. It has not affected my face. The rash is a cluster of red bumps and most concentrations of them are about 3-5 inches in diameter. The rash itches all over very intensely when I drink alcohol. After half a beer it starts and it is unbearable. This rash is very unsightly and I feel like a freak.
I am a 35yo male who drank regularly, occassionally excessively, & I was taking prevacid & lipitor. 2.5 weeks ago I began having a high fever, 102-103. After 4 days I went to my physician, who noted bilirubin in my urine and ordered blood tests. That same day my fever began to subside and was replaced by extreme nausea and fatigue. My blood tests revealed extremely high ast and alt, both over 7000, and negative results for Hep A, B & C. I discontinued the lipitor.
I continue to search on my end. More tests and Dr.'s tomorrow. Regards. PS I stopped the Lipitor until I can figure out what's up.
Extreme fatigue (even Epstein-Barr positive), chronic constipation that causes severe pain in my left side and ribs, trouble sleeping, soreness in my armpits and really bad itching on arms, armpits and backs, chronic daily migraines. Your TSH levels are high and the fact you couldn't lose weight is not surprising and that doctor is an idiot. Also, Hashimoto's does affect cholesterol and triglycerides.
