lipitor and dizziness

I have been experiencing the following symptoms: Dizziness, Difficulty Breathing, and a Distended Stomach. Most often I wake up in the middle of the night finding it hard to breate, as though I can't get a full deep breath when I inhale. My heart begins to speed up and I'm dizzy. Also, it looks like I'm pregnant, in that my stomach is very distended, and very hard. My neck and face get red.

We both - husband and wife, have been experiencing these symptoms. We have been on simvastatin for (wife for 1+ years, me for 2+ years) and stopped about 5-6 months ago - wife still having pains in the butt some dizziness and leg pain, but getting better - I am having butt pain and leg pains, swollen left knee, (but joint pain seems OK on stairs), recovery seems slower than my wife's.

BP 144/82. HR 44. Lisinipril metoprolol and Lipitor.

I have been taking 80 mg a night since August 2009. My diabetes has gotten worse and worse since starting Lipitor. I have the tenderness around back of neck, head. Muscles hurt. Please me in mind. I. Think it is hurting more than helping.

ve been on niaspam and my dr. thinks I should change to lipitor because of the new drug studies on lipitor. I am a perfect weight, and i'm 63 with no incidents of heart attack but my arteries do show significant arterilosclerosis. I feel healthy and seem great so far! any advice appreciated.

On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??

I have been taking Lipitor for the last 10 years and lately I have developed muscle pains. I was told the pain might be because of the Lipitor. I stopped taking them for a couple of months, the pain was much less however my cloestrol level was back to 290. I would appreciate any insight or suggestions.

There is much controversy about cholesterol, but it is muted because of pharmaceutical financial interests in statins. Half of those who die of strokes or heart attacks have no history of high cholesterol. DeBakey discounted cholesterol. My own doctor pays no attention to it. What is the true role of cholesterol and how should one proceed? I don't know, but I won't take Lipitor.

The Lipitor package insert recommends that a test of your liver function should be done prior to and at 12 weeks following both the start of therapy with Lipitor and any increase of dose, and periodically (for example, every six months) thereafter. If there are any changes in your liver function, drinking alcohol may make it worse.

Reason I ask is that I have been taking Lipitor since November H.A. and Stent, 10 mgs at first and now 5 mg at night, just before bed time, and since i started taking them, on the 10 mg dosage i had deep lovely surrealistic dreams about all kinds of things, like a movie in my brain every night, fell joyful and happy upon waking, and now with the 5 mg dosage, breaking pills in half as per doctor's orders, I still have very vivid dreaming all night long. I love it.

People taking lipitor are recommended to avoid alcohol in their diet because it raises the triglyceride levels, another lipid which is a risk factor for heart disease. Going to soft drinks would be far more beneficial for your body obviously but if this is impossible I would switch your lipitor to the mornings. Lipitor, unlike some statin drugs, can be taken any time of the day.

If hypothyrodism can cause high cholesterol is it not better to take thyorid hormone replacement than Lipitor?

I know that Lipotor can artiificially lower TSH and cause a false positive for hyperthyroidism.

I'd a hepatitis C group 3 so that my treatment was started since August 2009. Unfortunately, I had had cirrhosis already and doctor said that a likelihood to be cured against Hep C was 40 to 60%. I stopped the lipitor 3 days ago and the pain in my legs has stopped and feet are some better. I go to the dr. soon so I will tell her. I have stopped the lipitor before for a few days and gotten back to normal.

had coiling embolisation done with stent due to an unruptured aneurysm on the right ICA. returned to hospital afterwards due to TIA symptoms and was given Lipitor as cholesterol level was borderline and given just to make sure that it is not causing the "mini-stroke". i did pose the question on5th may but see no replies possibly didnt give enough detail i underwent triple bypass surgery aug 2008 and ever since have suffered from cronic dizziness nobody seems able to help tried to lift bp which is low at 110 70 been to ent spesialist revertigo etc yet it is always with me i need to drive a lot and do not wish to endanger others current meds are aspirin concor and lipitor any bady plse advice will be greatly recd cheers for now.

I take Atenolol and Lotrel for HBP and is consistantly 136/68. My cholesterol was off the charts and began a regimine of Lipitor in 2001. Within a few months I had severe muscle pain and loss of strength. I was taken off Lipitor. My current LDL is about 180 and use Flax Oil and Niacin supplements daily. Since beginning Lotrel in 2007 I have had a recurrence of severe muscle pain and weakness.

I was wondering if anyone here has experienced hair loss from taking a statin. My husband was placed on Lipitor about 5 months ago and has noticed that he's losing more than a normal amount of hair. His hairline isn't receding; it's thinning from all over.

Hi all, My father had a triple by pass surgery about 18 months ago, and has been taking Lipitor, Perondopril and Atenolol. He's been getting abnormal hair growth on one side of his leg and back and chest since he's been on Lipitor, and Perondopril. My balance was already damage from the benzo's and alcohol abuse. Lately some of you might have read my last thread that I haven't been feeling well. Actually I haven't felt well for a very long time. I did see my PCP yesterday and we all agreed that the trazodone was the one med that was making me very sluggish.
