lipitor

Avatar n tn Synthroid is 125 (micro-mg) 1 tablet a day. I take my Synthroid early in the morning and metmorphin after meals and lipitor in the night. It looks like for the last 3-4 months my weight has come to 55kg. I think last year my weight was 59kg. So what could be the reason for my weight loss? I walk everyday, my diet is good and healthy, my times for eating meals are very much on time, I am a strict vegetarian, milk, once a week tofu are the main sources of protiens.
Avatar n tn What is the problem: Lipitor. Lipitor and other statins have a long list of adverse health problems including liver damage, kidney failure, heart failure, cataracts and diabetes.
Avatar n tn Hi, Yes, there is a possibility to have a heart attack even though you are taking plavix and lipitor. Plavix prevents clot formation, while lipitor reduces plaque formation with in the vessels, but do not completely stop them from occurring. And this inturn depends upon various other factors like smoking, alcohol, life style, physical activity, long standing chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes etc. Best.
Avatar n tn my husband (60) has Type II diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol which are being managed very well by Lipitor, Lisenpril, Actos and Metformin. Before he was diagnosed (2004) we enjoyed Ecstasy maybe once every 1 or 2 yrs. It was an amazing experience for both of us, our relationship, our communication. As older adults we managed the experience (reliable source for E, hydration, calm location) carefully and respectfully.
Avatar f tn My good cholesterol is high, but my bad cholesterol is now higher than normal again and my regular doctor wants me back on Lipitor. I am very hesitant due to the Alpha-1 carrier status and the autoantibodies. Neither parent has heart problems or cancer, but my dad was stricken with autoimmune transverse myelitis in September 2008. My sister has Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I tested negative for that.

Avatar n tn I have been taking 80 mg a night since August 2009. My diabetes has gotten worse and worse since starting Lipitor. I have the tenderness around back of neck, head. Muscles hurt. Please me in mind. I. Think it is hurting more than helping.
Avatar n tn ve been on niaspam and my dr. thinks I should change to lipitor because of the new drug studies on lipitor. I am a perfect weight, and i'm 63 with no incidents of heart attack but my arteries do show significant arterilosclerosis. I feel healthy and seem great so far! any advice appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have always been monitored every 3_4 months with blood work and he put me on this lipitor 7/11 and I complained about the ide effects and he still increased it in 10/11 because he didn't see liver damage to 80mg from 40mg along with the 200mg of fenofibrate.
2121656 tn?1395674749 Dr. Schiano, Hi there! I'm thankful for this site to get a insight into understanding medical diagnoses. Before I get started, I would like to thank you for all you do and taking the time in reviewing my post. Well, I'll start with telling you a little about my health. I've type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high trig. (hereditary on mother's side). I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis. Due to the diabetes and high cholesterol I was taking metformin 500 mg.
Avatar f tn It is a disorder of the nerves which causes numbness, tingling, unusual sensations and sometimes pain. Diabetes Mellitus can cause neuropathy. Other causes like vitamin deficiencies, alcohol consumption and certain medications can cause neuropathy. You may need to consult your primary care physician to detect the cause. Regards.
963249 tn?1247190497 Try and get the levels and post here ...for both the thyroid and the diabetes and I will look at them as I am pretty knowledgeable in the diabetes and thyroid 'field'. Also how much Insulin is your hubby on per day and what was his last 3 monthly test results?
Avatar n tn On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??
10996785 tn?1432812977 s from detox, pneumonia, and a stroke. with the stroke, which is considered small and deep in my cerebellum, my vision and balance was effected. My balance was already damage from the benzo's and alcohol abuse. Lately some of you might have read my last thread that I haven't been feeling well. Actually I haven't felt well for a very long time. I did see my PCP yesterday and we all agreed that the trazodone was the one med that was making me very sluggish.
Avatar n tn I later restarted Lipitor at a lower dose because all research and studies strongly suggest statins, and especially Lipitor, have beneficial effects upon cardiac, vascular, and brain function, and at the lower dose I haven't had any ill effects... but again, I can't say (and my docs can't say) if my original symptoms were because of Lipitor or "adjusting" to a new metabolism or what... That's the total of my two cents...
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering my question. Yes I take trilipix and lipitor.
Avatar n tn d encourage weight loss, daily exercise, and a visit to a dietician to discuss dietary choices, as well as taking the drugs suggested. Diabetes causes the arteries to expand and contract, and this leads to heart blockages like your husband had that caused his heart attack. You didn't mention he had intervention like heart stents or bypass, but given his risk factors, these procedures could be ahead if he ignores or rejects these possibilities.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lipitor for the last 10 years and lately I have developed muscle pains. I was told the pain might be because of the Lipitor. I stopped taking them for a couple of months, the pain was much less however my cloestrol level was back to 290. I would appreciate any insight or suggestions.
Avatar f tn There is much controversy about cholesterol, but it is muted because of pharmaceutical financial interests in statins. Half of those who die of strokes or heart attacks have no history of high cholesterol. DeBakey discounted cholesterol. My own doctor pays no attention to it. What is the true role of cholesterol and how should one proceed? I don't know, but I won't take Lipitor.
Avatar f tn Total -188, trig 63, hdl 59, ldl 109. The physician assistant called saying she recommends a statin Lipitor. I am like why these readings aren’t that bad. There are no family history of heart issues. My husbands bp which he is on meds is 130/80. He doesn’t smoke or drink. Maybe 10 pounds overweight. Am I missing something here?
Avatar n tn , 3 years of ADT, 2006 bilateral orchiectomy, cholesterol levels, currently taking lipitor 40, blood sugar elevated, probably metabolic syndrom. What is best course of treatment? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/270487'>Radiation treatment options for recurrent prostate cancer</a>.
1303999 tn?1279581926 I'm not sure why your blood sugar went through the roof - I know others who have both type II diabetes and thyroid issues and don't have a problem with it. I wonder if there could be an absorption issue if you take the meds a the same time - like one could be preventing the other from being absorbed properly. Since we are all different, it could be the way the med affects you. Are you making sure to keep your diet on track and get enough exercise?
2121656 tn?1395674749 Dr. Schiano, Well, I'll start with telling you a little about my health. I've type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high trig. (hereditary on mother's side). I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis. Due to the diabetes and high cholesterol I was taking metformin 500 mg.'s once a day and lipitor 10 mg.'s once a day for about 6 yrs. now. I've now been taken off the medicine's now due to high liver enzymes. I was diagnosed with a fatty liver in 2008.
Avatar f tn The Lipitor package insert recommends that a test of your liver function should be done prior to and at 12 weeks following both the start of therapy with Lipitor and any increase of dose, and periodically (for example, every six months) thereafter. If there are any changes in your liver function, drinking alcohol may make it worse.
Avatar n tn People taking lipitor are recommended to avoid alcohol in their diet because it raises the triglyceride levels, another lipid which is a risk factor for heart disease. Going to soft drinks would be far more beneficial for your body obviously but if this is impossible I would switch your lipitor to the mornings. Lipitor, unlike some statin drugs, can be taken any time of the day.
