It could be an allergic reaction. I don't see anywhere that there is a reaction like that. Are you taking any other meds of any kind including OTC? Do you have allergies in general? My dad gets swollen lips when he is in contact with an allergen. Sounds like it may be the same thing, but do check with your doctor. Hang in there!
For about the past 10 months he has been having an allergic reaction to something. Hives, swollen lip, swollen tongue, swollen glands under the tongue. Sometimes he gets just one of these, other times he can get all of them together or a combination of a few of them. The doctor took him off his BP medication(Ace inhibitor). After a couple of months she just put him on Toprol(beta-blocker)-4 days ago. This morning he got up and had a swollen tongue and it was hard for him to swallow.
i have NEVER had an allergic reaction to a skin product before. it hurts an unbelievable amount. I've taken a zirtek and put some anthisan on the swelling but it still hurts a lot. Is this something that will calm down itself or should I see a dermatologist?
Histamine is a chemical released from specialized cells along the skin's blood vessels. Allergic reactions, chemicals in foods, insect stings, sunlight exposure, or medicines can all cause histamine release. Sometimes it's impossible to find out exactly why hives have formed. The most common foods that cause hives are nuts, chocolate, fish, tomatoes, eggs, fresh berries, and milk. Certain food additives and preservatives may also be to blame.
It can take you a few days to start to feel better, depending on how many doses of the antibiotics you actually took before you had the reaction. Also, make sure that you always remember that you are allergic to these antibiotics and you should not take them again. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
Hello, I recently had an allergic reaction to something i ate in which my lips and the inside of my mouth including my tongue became extremely swollen. I took benadryl for the swelling which subsided that evening however i had some lasting mouth discomfort and my lips became very dry afterwards. I kept them moisturized all day and overnight for a few days with petroleum jelly and noticed that as the discomfort went away, i was left with darkened lips.
I noticed that when i wear lipstick and drink out of a bottled water, my lip starts to swell on one side and then increase until it hurts. I am wondering what kind of allergic reaction could i have to cause this. This has happened four times this year.
it started yesterday and this morning I had swollen eyes, lips and little pink rash on arms. I took Loratadine and nothing!!!! no new foods, lotions. I am allergic to dust but never had a reaction like this. I look UGLY.
Ok, this is rather embarrassing, but last week I had oral sex with my boyfriend, and he was on steroids at the time. Shortly afterward, my lips became red and swollen. I have been treating with claratin, sudafed and orally using carmex. They are still some what sensitive. Could I be allergic to steroids or could I have some sort of infection. Also, his ejaculate had a metal taste to it.
for now, I would concentrate on taking benadryl for the allergic reaction. Do not continue taking the medicine that is causing the reaction. It may be a small localized reaction now but if you continue taking it, it could eventually cause a larger reaction. Please go speak with your doctor.
Got up itch my lip and ate a fruit. A nd then my lip was swollen with littl bumps. Can allergic reactions look like water blisters orcold sores? Thats my big thing because all d websites say if u get a water blister or cold sore on the lip you have HSV1???
it so they can move your question to the proper forum and you can get an answer. All I can say is usually swelling of the lips is caused by some allergic reaction. Perhaps new lipstick, something you've eaten. Think back to what's new in the past 24 hours.
but the symptoms have persisted and now I have little bumps on my face my lips and face are feeling swollen and tingly and I'm still itchy. I didn't eat or drink anything out of the ordinary...could I have developed an allergic reaction to something? And how can I find out? When should I seek medical help? I don't want to go to the doctors and find out this is nothing. But, alternately I don't want to think this is nothing and I end up unconscious or something.
The first symptoms of cold sores may include pain around your mouth and on your lips, a fever, a sore throat, or swollen glands in your neck or other parts of the body. Treatment may include skin creams, ointments, and antiviral drugs like acyclovir. I suggest you to get the diagnosis confirmed from a dermatologist after examination. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.

NOTE: his hemoglobin was checked and was 20 at this time. After giving him adrenaline, benedryl, cortizone, oxygen and prednizone tablet symptoms subsided. He was released. Less than 3 hours later he was back in the Er with same symptoms but more severe! Again, the cycle of drugs was given and symptoms subsided.
Hello zed29, It sounds like you've had an allergic reaction to the Passion Peel off mask. Since you're a teenager, I would ask your mother to make you an appointment to see your family doctor as soon as possible. I would bring the Passion Peel off mask product with you to the appointment so your doctor can look at the listed ingredients and so you can have a talk with your doctor. You may need a referral to an allergist by your doctor. That's how you do it in Canada.

My lips were tingly and bacame dry around the edges but other than that I had no other symptoms and no cold sores or lesions of any kind in my mouth or on my lips. I went to the doctor and they attributed it to being viral but couldn't pinpoint the cause and advised to let it run it's course.
Hi, This sounds like an allergic reaction called angioedema. Angioedema is a swelling similar to hives, but the swelling is beneath the skin rather than on the surface. The swellings are called welts. Angioedema may be caused by an allergic reaction. It is associated with the release of histamine and other chemicals into the bloodstream. The body releases histamine when the immune system detects a foreign substance called an allergen. Sometimes the cause of angioedema is never found.
