Nope, not thrush - They look similar to canker sores, but they are not white and they are not inside his mouth, they are all along the edge of his upper lip. They aren't ulcerated like a fever blister, but they do crack open and bleed if he doesn't keep them moisturized with a lip balm.
Hello, In my opinion these are canker sores. Canker sores are small shallow ulcers that appear in the mouth and often make eating and talking uncomfortable. Pain from a canker sore generally lessens in a few days and the sores usually heal without treatment in about a week or two. Avoid spicy or acidic foods during this time.
I woke up the next night with light bumps on the inside of my upper lip. It was the same color of my lip and didn't hurt but felt like sand paper. Someone advised me that it was just irritation and to use mouth wash to see if it goes away. I did. The sand paper feeling went away, but now I have two little white dots that look and feel like canker sores. I get canker sores all the time, so I know what it feels like. I'm worried because we didn't use a condom. Do I have an STD?
Today I just noticed that I have a small white dot on my lower lip. Does anyone know if this is normal and if I should see a doctor?
I have now noticed a white spot (small bump when felt with my tounge) on my lower lip centered. occured once mid last year and another this month. It is ther size of a very tiny pimple, but not as bumpy. at times it looks and feels (with tounge) like a tiny blister but ranges in size through the day becoming flat sometimes. its never changes color other than white and what sometimes looks like a dark spec in the middle, and it has never "popped". it last about 2-3 weeks.
Hi, There are many types of sores that can appear anywhere within the mouth, including the inner cheeks, gums, tongue, lips, or palate. Most mouth sores are cold sores or fever blisters, canker sores, or other irritation caused by biting of the cheek, tongue, or lip; braces or burning the mouth from hot food or drinks. Cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus and are very contagious. Usually, you have tenderness, tingling, or burning before the actual sore appears.
im 14 and i have a white blister on my top lip and i know this isnt std or herpies etc my mum says its the cold but it wont go away what is it?
Hello, From the symptoms it can be folliculitis if the bumps are found close to the lip line and can be cold sores if she has had an infection due to HSV1. Pain, burning, tingling, or itching occurs at the infection site before the sores appear. Then clusters of blisters erupt which break down.
It first started as a lip swell, and redness around the edge of the lip(under the lower lip). First i didn't really care as i thought it was a cold sore sign, so i used acyclovir for 5 days. Tho, there was never any cold sore/pimple on lip. And i haven't had herpes simplex outbreak in more than ten years. After those five days, lips returned back to normal. But redness was still there, and it started to itch around the lip. I used some vaseline, but finally went to see a doctor.
Yesterday i developed a small white blister on my lip. last night i popped it and a white cream colored substance came out. i cleaned it with paroxide. it kind of came back, so i punctured it today during lunch and cleaned it again. No substance this time just a little blood. now five hours later it's a white yellowy scab on my lip. kind of feels like l could rip it off like a scab but still has a bumpy feel not flat like a scab. really tiny though...... no redness at all.

hi, i tried finding an answer to my question, but all of the questions that deal with similar symptoms are for the "upper lip". However, i came across a small tiny white bump on my lower lip (not a whitehead), if i run my finger over it, i can feel its a tiny bump. Im not sexually active for a few months now ( :( ) . I do smoke, but maybe a pack a week; but i just noticed this tiny bump after sharing a blunt with someone i really dont know...
I have these little white bumps on my upper lip, and i think i got them from using chapstick, maybe an allergic reaction? Nobody has used my chapstick at all, just me. Homecoming is this saturday and i want to know what the white bumps are. I applied chapstick almost every hour to hour and a half today, and i circled my lips with the chapstick about two times, maybe more. The bumps are very small, they can only be seen if i look carefully in the mirror.
Her lip has now been swollen for days and when you pull her lip down, she has white lesions and sores inside. The dentist said with ice and ibuprofen everything would return to normal in 2 days. It's been 4 and we see no signs of improvement. Does this warrant an emergency room trip? Possible infection? Or is this normal. Please help!
About 5 days after this, I got a cold sore on my lip. I have had cold sores in the past and have tested positive for HPV in the past (never did they type test so I am not sure if I ever had HPV II; I know I have HPVI because of the history of cold sores). The cold sore was a bit unusual. Instead of being one big cluster of blisters, they were more in a line about 1/2" long, beginning at my lip line and traveling down my chin. The blisters were about 1/16".
Please Help Dr, I am really confused about these sores on my bottom lip. I guess I should give you a brief overall history before I proceede with my questions. I am a 24yr old male. Two weeks ago (March 16) I preformed unprotected oral sex on a female, and recieved protected oral sex, which has caused me a great amount of anxiety. I have even posted a question regarding some burning and painful urination to Dr. Hansfield, which he answered.
i have a white head looking thing either below my lower lip or on the very lowest part of my lower lip it has a little red around it like a normal white head and the white head itself has little red marks but it looks like a white head
In the summer when I am outside in the sun I get these horrible sores on my bottom lip, it is actually like one big sore that covers half my lip. This just started last year. None of the lip balms I've tried help. Could this be a form of skin cancer,I'm really scared? If not what is it and what can I do to prevent this other than staying out of the sun.
just infected less than a month ago...... on the mouth... or lip..... when the white headed cold sore is there ad a litle hard... do I burst it... does it have beneifical effects to do this..? any treatments?....... what do you say about using vitamind c as a therapy?
For the past 10 years I have had really sensitive lips and have only been able to use one type of lip balm. As anything else - lip sticks of glosses give me little sores on my lips and cause them to puff up and get little scabs and peel contantly - i also get dry patches under my eyes and eye lids. When I visited a doctor they told me I may have an allergy to nail polish and an ingrediant in lip glosses/balms its also happens when I were nail polish.
As for the sores inside the mouth, most sores inside the cheeks (as opposed to outside on the lip) are not herpes. Primary herpes is associated with high fever, swollen glands, and other symptoms you don't seem to have had. In other words, I don't think your symptoms are likely to have been herpes--probably just an unrelated virus. Best. Dr.
I think I have cold sores. I had 2 white bumps on my lip and after using a cream they both went away. They started a week or so after I kissed a guy. My question is since they went away can I expect they'll eventually come back? Does this mean I can't kiss people without giving it to them too?
Now my fevers gone and I figured it wasn't my wisdom tooth. My gums are swollen any tongue is extremely white and has soreful bumps on it and canker sores under it and I have what looks like a canker sore on my lip but it's not painful at all.
ok i have had large white sores on the inside of my bottom lip and also on the bottom of my tounge on both sides. the ones on the bottom of my tounge are long and extend the length of my tounge from bottom to top and look puss filled... these hurt very badly and i havnt been able to eat much in the last 2 weeks... what could it be? how can i treat it?
The medicine helped my sore throat but 3 days later the sores spread and were on my cheeck, gums, inside lip, and on the inside of my lower lip. It hurt to eat and swallow. It took another 3 days and they were gone. Since then every few weeks one or two will show up again in the exact same place on the top of my lower lip closest to the inside of my mouth. They are white/red (hard to see unless your infront of my face) and sometimes blends pretty close to the color of my lips.
About 5 days later, my vaginal area started to itch really bad. The next day, a bunch of small white sores (I suppose they look like small canker sores) appeared all around the vaginal area, on the labia, and has even spread down to the anus. Fearing the worst (herpes), I went to get tested for STDs, however I do not get the results until 2/13/13. The doctor said I definitely had a really bad yeast infection and herpes was possible although unlikely.
I had this a while back and the fatigue, white tongue, and canker sores fit the bill. Also started for me after unprotected intercourse. I would be a little surprised if it spread during a single session of sex though, usually it's repeated exposure that passes it. Any digestive problems?
I have a white raised area on my bottom lip. At first it was one area, but a second one seems to be developing.
Alcohol can trigger canker sores if these are that. It also could be another viral infection causing mouth sores too. Yes it could be oral herpes but until you are seen monday it'll be too late to get an accurate culture to find that out. Avoid acidic foods, sour foods and alcohol for the rest of the weekend and see if that helps.
Hi, How are you? Cold sores usually heal within 3-4 weeks. If there is a history of trauma, this could be a simple mouth ulcer, which can be a very painful white or yellow open sore that occurs anywhere on the mucous membrane of your mouth. If it developes into a cyst, becomes painful and swell, have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. At this point, maintain oral hygiene as tolerated and over-the-counter medicine such as Ibuprofen may help provide relief.
