About two months ago we noticed a bump on our young female Bombay cats lip. We took her to the vet, they said three options; kitty acne, hemotobin, or some other really long word that requires steroid treatment. We took her home for observation, the lump went away within two weeks, so we thought hemotobin. Now it's back and bigger, it seems there are a few small bumps around the large one, with red coloration to it. I have seen posts saying no plastic dishes, but we have glass and metal.
It is most likely an allergic reaction at its peak. Call your vet to make an appointment ASAP just in case; but if it an allergic reaction, the doctor should not be overly worried as long as the cat keeps eating and doesn't seem lethargic. It may be a bug bite, plant, spider....

He just had to get a shot last week b/c he had sores all over his belly from biting and scratching. Now he has a fat bottom lip. He had the same thing in February, got a shot and it went away. I read that fish based foods can cause allergies. He only eats chicken flavored food but I had just given him a salmon flavored treat a day or so before the lip flare up. Anyway, I know that the vet will not want to give him another steroid shot so soon after the other one.

Other than the itching it seems almost completely healed and the dermatologist I saw thought it resembled the Coxsackie virus. I have also had some odd sensations on my genitals preceding this. Does this sound typical of that virus?
I thought it might be the new cat nip toys i got him so i took them away about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ago but the sores have spread. It started with a pink lower lip and it was swollen. The inside of his top right cheek was very swollen with little ulcers on the inside but the swelling has gone down since then. There are still scabs along the top rim of the lip. However There are new sores and scabs in the left corner of his mouth.

I adopted an adult female cat from our local animal shelter a few months ago. She's been fairly healthy except that I had to put her on antibiotics right after adopting her due to sneezing & stuffy nose.
About 3 weeks ago we adopted a 4 month old Border Collie. It's been difficult getting the cat & puppy to get along. Earlier this week I noticed a sore on the outer corner of my cat's mouth, with fur loss on the lower lip.
I continiously get lip sores on my bottom lip only. I have been getting them for years and have been prescribed many diffrent courses of creams tablets etc. There has never been one any better thanthe other and when the blisterring is at its most venemous the need to pick is almost un-bearable.
I keep away from lip balm etc as I find them to only feed the bug opposed to helping.
Hi Sissy and welcome. First, human tuna should not be given to kitty due to the mercury in it...at least, not too much. Using it to get a pill down is one thing, but kitty needs cat food for the nutrients.
My first thought is I wonder if your cat is eating out of a plastic bowl? This can cause feline acne. This could also be herpes. The info below is from an earlier thread that I copy and pasted. Hope it helps some.
for the past 5 months on and off i have suffered from dry sores on the corners of my mouth after a while using cold sore lip cream it goes but then soon returns, its not contagious and not very painful but itchy and easy spreads and splits when i yawn !

i been dealing with cold sores for a long time usually occurs on my bottom lip actually under it and its usually in the same spot. recently i got an outbreak again there and also occurred on my nose on the side now ive never ever had an outbreak on my nose b4 can u tell me why i would of gotten it there also so right now i have it on my bottom lip and on my nose?it scares me because ive never had it on my nose b4 could i have had a fever?

My boyfriend has had cold sores (start as grouped blisters on the lip/ corner of lip which rupture and heal over a short period of time). After engaging in oral sex I developed similar grouped blisters that spread over my vagina with burning urine. He is now questioning my fidelity and I've honestly only been with him.
Cats who are spayed live longer in health. You won't "be taking that away" because it is a "gift of nature" that cats are so fecund? In the U.S., one in 11 cats has a safe, protected home. The rest are feral or in shelters, they do not have a long, happy life. Please rethink.
