Avatar n tn Hello, Such type of atrophied tissue can be due to sunken scars which is a common side effect of kenalog injections. Unfortunately for this type of scarring or pitting, there is no medical cream as such which can treat it but surgical excision by a good plastic surgeon, collagen filling and laser resurfacing have given promising results. I would therefore recommend these two.
Avatar n tn There are many treatment options available and local applications and other minor surgical procedures using collagen and silicone have been devised. However, exact treatment plan cane be made only by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Please keep the faith here, but I hope that you are wise to understand replicating what has been developed naturally is difficult. i hope that this helped you.

Avatar m tn The conditions have gotten a lot better but my new neurologist recommended cortisone injections into the muscles in the shoulder. I asked him to only do two injections but he ended up doing five. This way on May 16. Three days ago I discovered dents right where he administered the injections. They are very noticeable as they lie right on the scapula bone. He never mentioned fat atrophy as a possible side effect.
Avatar f tn My mom have a killoid on chest. She have burning pain around it. What treatment we should take for it? Right now she is taking medicine of homeopathy. What cream should prefer if burning pain persists?
Avatar n tn The first few days, when I moved them, lines would appear and they looked like they lost shape a bit on the top lip. They look better now, and lines went away, but they're still not the same as they were before. Do you think I have I lost some collagen or elasticity? Could that happen to someone my age? (I'm 18.) I know it sounds funny that I think it might have been what I did, but they were fine before I did that.
Avatar n tn Hello, What you are having is collagen loss due to a side effect of the steroid shots. These indentations which have formed after steroid injections can take upto 6 months to heal and fill in when collages in formed but sometimes it may take longer or less depending on the depth of the indentations and the response of the skin. If they persist then you can get collagen filling and laser resurfacing done.

Avatar n tn I recently recieved Kenalog Injections to treat Alopecia Barbae. I am noticing some hair regrowth, but more than that I am noticing some small dents or dimples in my face from the injections. I was wondering if they are permanent or will they go away in time?
Avatar f tn Surgery can’t be done on scar tissue due to the fact that tissue regrowth on a scar isn’t stable enough for sutures (lack of collagen) so, to keep the sutures in place, it would be necessary to go deeper or use tissue surrounding the scar. This would cause the scar on your lip to be larger, or more noticeable, than the existing one and the skin might grow in as a slightly different color. is that true doctor?
Avatar n tn Nonetheless, I am very interested in considering the botox injections. What is the history and effectiveness, side effects of injections for this condition? Thank you, I want relief from these tics. They are exhausting.
Avatar n tn He just had to get a shot last week b/c he had sores all over his belly from biting and scratching. Now he has a fat bottom lip. He had the same thing in February, got a shot and it went away. I read that fish based foods can cause allergies. He only eats chicken flavored food but I had just given him a salmon flavored treat a day or so before the lip flare up. Anyway, I know that the vet will not want to give him another steroid shot so soon after the other one.
Avatar n tn Scars and indents are side effects of steroid injections for keloids and it may take months to heal and fill in when collages in formed but sometimes it may take longer or less depending on the depth of the indentations and the response of the skin. If they persist then you can get collagen filling and laser resurfacing done. For the spider veins also, laser treatment is required.
Avatar n tn I am unaware of steroid injections being an appropriate treatment for either of these problems. Several medications including antiseizure and a drug call Neurontin have been successfully used to treat dysthesias. The risk vs benefits must be carefully weighed and these medications must be closely monitored by the prescribing doctor. I am not familiar with any prospective clinical studies on acupuncture for your conditions.
Avatar m tn Also I have alopecia in the eyelash region of my left eye and was told the treatment was steroid injections in the eyelid but that would cause cataracts..I am currently in my 3rd year of medical school and I was wondering why that would be a side effect. I know its not an osmotic agent so what is the mechanism? also I would like to know if there are any other treatments for the alopecia of the eyelashes. Thank You Doctor!
