I had an angioma (red spot) removed from above my upper lip. They used a needle to cauterize the spot which was supposed to make it go away. It took a number of injections over several visits before the redness seemed to respond and fade a bit. But in it's place, I now have a triangular shaped divet about the size of the head of a pin where the skin is missing and no longer flush with the rest of my skin above my top lip.
3) Worst case scenario if a sugical procedure is required (like diskotectomy, not really sure about the spelling), what is the average cost for such a procedure in the US.

I had metacril injections two weeks ago in Costa Rica to my lips and nasalabial folds. The metacril in the bottom lip has now turned into hard bumps, which I think was the result of going and having my teeth whitened afterwards and the Zoom laser hitting that area so long. Has anyone else had experience with metacril? Any recommended plastic surgeons in the Dallas area I can go to and follow up with this issue? Thanks!

I did not think much of it at first but its bothering me now. I have a bump inside my lower lip..it looks as if its filled with some clear liquid..i used to just pop it with a needle or just bite it until it pops then clean it up...i have noo idea what it is and I am starting to worry about it. Can any one please help me?
The first few days, when I moved them, lines would appear and they looked like they lost shape a bit on the top lip. They look better now, and lines went away, but they're still not the same as they were before. Do you think I have I lost some collagen or elasticity? Could that happen to someone my age? (I'm 18.) I know it sounds funny that I think it might have been what I did, but they were fine before I did that.

What you are having is collagen loss due to a side effect of the steroid shots. These indentations which have formed after steroid injections can take upto 6 months to heal and fill in when collages in formed but sometimes it may take longer or less depending on the depth of the indentations and the response of the skin. If they persist then you can get collagen filling and laser resurfacing done.
ve heard this will come back with time (weeks/months) but want to be sure the body re-produces collagen in this area naturally, especially since this was not an acne induced indentation. Note, I have never had scars left from a pimple or these swollen areas in the past. Please give me some good news on the prognosis!

Such type of atrophied tissue can be due to sunken scars which is a common side effect of kenalog injections. Unfortunately for this type of scarring or pitting, there is no medical cream as such which can treat it but surgical excision by a good plastic surgeon, collagen filling and laser resurfacing have given promising results. I would therefore recommend these two.
The conditions have gotten a lot better but my new neurologist recommended cortisone injections into the muscles in the shoulder. I asked him to only do two injections but he ended up doing five. This way on May 16. Three days ago I discovered dents right where he administered the injections. They are very noticeable as they lie right on the scapula bone. He never mentioned fat atrophy as a possible side effect.

I have bursitis in my hips and have had many cortisone injections over the years, (maybe two or three a year). After so long my skin became paper thin and any side to side motion will tear the layers leaving horrible blood spots under the skin. It also tears so easy! My arms look like I'm 80 years old! It doesn't help that I suffer from low protein from mal-absorption due to gastric bypass 10 years ago.
