How do you distinguish a cold sore from a blister/pimple/cyst/derma logical problem ?
I had something on my lip which started as a raised lip then a single blister which ulcerated and disappeared completely to like a hole in my lip in 24-48 hours.
There was no hard scab/yellow scab nor was anything bright red.
Does this seem like a cold sore..........................
I have heard from diff people who have cold sores that their cold sores are in the form of a blister and it didn't hurt at all! I guess it's just all about your immune system people have diff reactions. Altho it's rare that cold sores don't hurt or feel weird. if I were you I would just assume that that's what your cold sores look like and make sure not to kiss or perform oral on anyone when you have those symptoms, just to be on the safe side!
i a woman who performed unprotected oral sex on a man, and exactly two days later i woke up with a cold sore on my lip and a small blister right below my bottom lip and a sore throat that feel like a mild case of strep throat. and exactly two days after receiving the blister it bust, but i still have the cold sore and sore throat four days after the encounter. should i go to the doctor or emergency room? and what do it sound like i could have?
So last Thursday (a week ago) I woke up with one small blister on my bottom lip ALMOST on the inner part (very close but not quite). i've been getting cold sores all my life. recently i've been getting these bubble like things on my lips frequently. they dont feel like cold sores. no burning or tingling. they dont hurt. and it's only one blister in the area. it looks like a cold sore blister but doesnt act like one. any suggestions on whats going on?
Since you have sore throat and runny nose, it can be a cold sore or fever blister. Certain allergic reactions too can cause this. Both Herpes type 1 and type 2 infection can cause blister on lip.
Since you have this blister, it would be good to test for herpes. In all probability, this will disappear with your sore throat.

For the past few days I have had a rough patch of skin on the line of my upper lip. It has not blistered, and it isn't painful. Also I have never had a cold sore. However I have taken extra precautions in case it is a cold sore, like washing my hands if I touch my mouth. My question is, if this is a cold sore, and it's my first outbreak, will it be likely that it could spread to my genitals if I touched the patch and then touched somewhere else?

This came up around my mouth a few days ago. Today I bought cream for it (5% w/w). I just want to confirm this is a cold sore? Anything else I should be doing about it? This is the 2nd or 3rd time i've had a little bump in the same spot near my lips, am I going to have this reoccur for the rest of my life? I should add that this time I tried squeezing it because I hoped it was a zit.
my question is if i was alreadly infected with the hsv1, is it possilble to get genital hsv1? and is my cold sore a cold sore? since it has not changed in 6 days, no blister just swollen. and the doctor said i have to wait 4 weeks to see and blister, would the antiviral pills extend the 4 weeks? currently i have to symptons in my genital area.
Hey, I think I know what you mean. My 3 year old daughter has a tiny white blister on her upper lip. It just showed up about 1 1/2 months ago, and it doesn't seem to cause her any pain at all. I guess it could be a cold sore, but this isn't a sore....it's just a tiny white blister. I hope it goes away on it's own. I will ask her Dr. next time I go in with the kids. I'll let you know what I find out, and please do the same for me!
Plus you said it was inside your mouth then its a canker sore (not related to herpes) and if it was on the outside of your lip/mouth then it a cold sore (which is herpes type 1). The only way you will get Herpes type 2 is by sex which only stay below the waist and for the buttocks, I think it might of been the acne since acne can show up anywhere on your body.
Cancer sores are not herpes or cold sores. A Cold sore is HSV-1 and appears usually outside the lip. Do a google image search and see for yourself. Wikipedia will clarify the difference between cancer sores and cold sores. Also, there is cracked mouth which are cracks in the skin in the corner of the mouth. This is not herpes either.
