Lip blister not cold sore

Common Questions and Answers about Lip blister not cold sore

lip

I had a stomach ache and took some new medicine then I had a blister on my lip with extreme swelling. I went to the doctor and she looked at it for 2 seconds and said it was a cold sore. Could it be something else?
I used teeth whitening strips and I think i developed a blister on my lower lip from it. The blister is very painful and has a white puss layer on top of it. my lip is also a little swollen where the blister is. I have had this blister for a week now and it shows no sign of improvements. what should I do?
It is not white or swollen. It feels more like a cut on my lip. it dried up in a matter of one day, but I peeled off the skin by accident after brushing my teeth and now its sore again. Is there a possibility of this being herpes or any other serious disease?
i've had a small white "blister" on my bottom lip for about a month. i've had a cold sore in the past--plenty actually--but this is different; it's not oozing, it's not inflamed, it didn't start out as tiny blisters. what could this be? shamefully, i smoke (less than a pack a week, but still) and i was wondering if this could be related to that? while we're on the topic, i've also developed a rather noticeable growth between my leg and my genitals, and it's not symmetrical.
I'm not sure what it is and I'm scared. Is there some kinda treatment, cure? And what is the proper name to call this lip sore or thing what ever it is. Does it go away? And how long does it take?
It sounds like a cold sore. If so, try L-Lysine. It is an amino acid. It clears it up quick. If it isn't a cold sore, L-Lysine could still help.
Im not sure what the term cold sore is but they also use the term fever blister. Bottom line is to determine if a sore on the lip is a herpes sore it would need to be swabbed and cultured. I do know that sores inside the mouth are canker sores which are not herpes sore as most often appear on the outside of the mouth and most often where the lip meets the face.
I have had the herpes simplex virus for many years and have had many cold sore/fever blister "breakouts" over the years. My most recent "breakout" became a blister on my top lip. As usually happens, I pierced the blister with a sterile needle for drainage. A very slight amount of drainage occurred. The following day, the blister was just as noticeable as before, so I attempted drainage again.
It comes and goes in the same spot a couple of times a month. I do not get cold sores, although do get canker sores. This is NOT a cold sore, it is a small blister, it heals and it keeps coming back. I am concerned about lip cancer?
Okay, so i have this blister on the center of my upper lip. Its not on top but in the middle of my lip. I woke up like this and im not sure what it is. It seemed to form over night? its not huge but its big enough to notice and keep me from leaving the house. it looks like a blister and its red around the surrounds of it. theres actually two when i look close. a bigger one and a smaller one located just about that. Its not itchy or anything but annoying. It looks like there is water in it.
I am wondering if this could be a cold wore and also I gave my guy a kiss on his cheek not thinking about it and now I am worried that I might have transmitted it if it is in fact a cold sore. It is not leaking any fluid and not even a blister. Please help. Need an opinion.
I have seen pictures of cold sore and it doesn not entirely look like one but I have no idea what it is. A similar occurence has happened in the past but they have never been big like cold sore pictures reflect. Even in the past it has had the white stuff in the pimple and the last time i remember it was at the corner of my lip. I did take food from outside the night before and I am confused whether this is herpes or whether it is a reaction to some food material.
I noticed a single painless blister on my lip 24 hours ago. I believe that it developed after trying to rip skin from my lip with my teeth two days and pulling skin of my lip manually a couple of days ago because of chapped lips. However, I was really suprised to see a blister develop. As I stated, it is a single painless blisterin the center of my my lip, not along the edge or corner of my mouth. It doesn't appear to be spreading and it isn't red or particularly swollen around the blister.
I don't think any fluid came out, but I'm not exactly sure since it was clear. I'm thinking it's a cold sore (Herpes 1), but I did not have any of the typical symptoms. No tingling, no pain, and no burning and it is more inside of the lips/mouth, not on the outside. However, I do seem to have some type of a minor strep throat. The rear part of the roof of my mouth where it is more soft and meets the uvula is red on the sides (redness might be normal?).
Any suggestions? Ice? Neosporin? Cold sore remedies? Or am I stuck just waiting it out and trying to avoid people for the next several days?
I developed a sore w/ little bumps surrounding it on the edge of my lip. I have been with one partner for about 4 yrs so, dont see herpes being the cause. What can it be?
I have heard from diff people who have cold sores that their cold sores are in the form of a blister and it didn't hurt at all! I guess it's just all about your immune system people have diff reactions. Altho it's rare that cold sores don't hurt or feel weird. if I were you I would just assume that that's what your cold sores look like and make sure not to kiss or perform oral on anyone when you have those symptoms, just to be on the safe side!
I've never had a cold sore, but I do pick at my lips all the time because they constantly peel. Oh and it was located on the bottom of my lip.
Also, I do kiss my husbands mouth when I do not have a visible sore. My first cold sore was really bad, it itched, had alot of clear fluid and really was sore and it took a long time to heal. I really do think the first one is the worst, because you don't know what it is, Think, did you kiss anyone with a sore on their mouth, never do that.
Hi All, Quick question. I'm 25 years old and have NEVER had a cold sore. I was actually given a blood test last year for HSV-1 and HSV-2 and both came back negative. I did however, since then date someone who had cold sores. In brief, it felt as though I had just had really really chapped lips that ended up splitting in one area. This area did NOT have a blister on it or anything like that but since splitting, has begun to heal (much like a canker sore).
Application of cortisone cream will have little effect of a cold sore. If it is something lese it could hasten healing. 3. I am not going into herpes testing. You can search this site to learn about them or get information from the ASHA web site. 4. If the lesion on your lip is herpes, it will only be transmitted from your lip. There is no reason to worry about herpes transmission from sex if your lip is where the lesion is. My guess however is that it is not herpes.
1. Wouldn't cold sores appear in groups 2. Wouldn't I have other symptoms with this cold sore 2.
i work in the sun all day everyday, my lip got a blister on it, so i tried chapstick, then my whole lip got blisted, i thought i was alergic, but it is just the bottom lip, it is very painful and will not get better on its own, i went to the er they said maybe it was some sort of staph infection, they gave me acyclovir antibiotics and mupirocin cream, but the cream burns to badly to apply ... please help!!
It just showed up about 1 1/2 months ago, and it doesn't seem to cause her any pain at all. I guess it could be a cold sore, but this isn't a sore....it's just a tiny white blister. I hope it goes away on it's own. I will ask her Dr. next time I go in with the kids. I'll let you know what I find out, and please do the same for me!
Have genital hsv 1 (diagnosed six weeks ago) and have a tiny pimple, almost microscopic, on upper lip. Is it a cold sore or just a pimple? I had a similar spot during my last breakout which never developed into a sore and just went away.
A single bump may be a cold sore. Cold sore is caused by herpes simplex type 1 virus and usually affects the lower lip. This may resolve in due time. You may ask your doctor if topical or oral antivirals are indicated although this is not always given. Cold sores may come and go. They may actually recur. Drink plenty of water and eat well. It is important that you get a good amount of rest and plenty of nutritious food. Avoid any intimate or sexual contact for the moment.
Since you have sore throat and runny nose, it can be a cold sore or fever blister. Certain allergic reactions too can cause this. Both Herpes type 1 and type 2 infection can cause blister on lip. Since you have this blister, it would be good to test for herpes. In all probability, this will disappear with your sore throat. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
I am approximately four and a half months pregnant and right around the time I conceived, I noticed a small - almost unnoticeable - dark blister on my upper lip. By dark I mean a shade or two lighter than my actual lip color. It is probably the size of the tip of a pen. When I run my tounge across the area, it seems as if it is also a small blister-like bump. It is completely painless and is on the lower portion of my upper lip, where my two lips meet.
