The only other time I have experienced any redness is from giving myself contact dermatitis in my vagina from too much aspercream with lidocaine down there. Am now just using coconut oil with lidocaine for pain and started a ssri. Saw a pain doctor who believes my pain is viral in nature-maybe shingles recurrence (which I have had in the past but not in groin area). Have you ever heard of any cases of herpes like this??
In mid March I had a septocaine injected lower left, by a hygenist for cleaning. About 3 minutes after the injection my jaw locked, not only did the jaw lock, but my tongue went numb to the point where it would not move, my throat went numb and I could not swallow, I was numb all the way up through the temple. It wore off after 8.5 hours, but my jaw has been out of place since that time. The pain has become progressively worse and has spread to the right side as well.
The radiofrequency neurolysis is a good procedure for temporal tendonitis if that is what you have. Lidocaine/cortisone injections are equally effective. Both may need to be repeated. The big issue is why you may have temporal tendonitis---usually from clenching/bruxing associated with TMJ pain or sleep disordered breathing. Follow scottma's advice and find a qualified orofacial pain specialist and get a correct diagnosis.
my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches. advice as to where to put the needle (i got from cvs insulin 31g-8mm),what to expect ie: will it burn- how long b4 its numb, and if i split the nail will it grow back? any advice will help..

I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation.

I just wanted to say how pleased I am to see so many woman suggesting mother's to be patient and wait for the baby to be ready. Not to try to force it out through "natural induction". There is nothing natural about using Castro oil or such. I understand how uncomfortable it can be but waiting it out vs potentially harming your child. I'm just happy to see people suggest the waiting it out. Thanks moms!
I read the entire thing the first time you suggested it. Thank you, but there were no real alternative treatments offered besides the band aids of corn starch and lidocaine spray. I'm looking for something a little more advanced. Maybe I am speaking to the wrong audience here.
It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
I have read previous posts, but am wondering what medications would cause a false negative 4th gen test. Medication that I am concerned about is lidocaine viscous. My Doctor has told me several times that it would not and that I am conclusive non-reactive. But just checking.

My first ultra sound FNA was a done by a Radiologist. I felt the 1st stick of lidocaine. I didn't feel the other needle sticks, but felt lots of pressure. The Radiologist seemed to have lots of problems getting the needle into the nodule even though it was ultra sound guided. He poked around in me for about 25 minutes before getting a sample. I was scared to death and could feel the needle inside my throat every time I swallowed. Two days later, I was told the sample was not adequate.
