It's not likely. It could be one of the other "caines": Marcaine,Lidocaine, etc...anesthetics like Novacaine that you get at the dentist. Pharmeceutical grade cocaine is used medically but more for nose,throat surgeries.

In my experience, marcaine nerve blocks work better than lidocaine. So kenelog is a potent steroid, and anti-inflammatory. A nerve block is either a treatment or a test. If it's a test, you're going to need to move on to castration, or microsurgical denervation of the sperm cord. If it's a treatment, you need a therapeutic mechanism. Fortunately, a long-lasting anti-inflammatory is a good option.

I do bladder instills, mines used to have heparin and lidoccainm I now use lidocaine, marcaine, solu cortef, and sodium bicarb. Heparin is a bladder coater and is good too. Honestly the first time I had it done it hurt too...,and didn't help a lot but it takes a few. Now them at home weekly abd the make a huge difference. It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.

I would see if your ortho or pain specialist can give you an injection of marcaine or place an access drain into the knee where you can inject lidocaine or marcaine to numb the entire area every so many days? You may be only in your 30s my friend, but.....sorry to say......you need a knew knee. May as well look into getting it done now, or you'll have to deal with pain for years to come, or go back on the narcs till you get one.

t tolerate Lidocaine or epi., so I used Procaine or Marcaine for my procedures--at the dentist too. It was at the dentist that I discovered this problem. If you want an alternate drug, KEEP REMINDING THEM--they automatically use lidocaine it seems. Certainly they can numb you with something! I don't know about microcal. washing away--but I do know that 8mm of DCIS was indentified on my biopsy, and MANY scans and 2 surgeries later, no sign of cancer has been found.

I already have the cortisone injection scheduled! For Friday the 13th; good thing I'm not superstitious, lol! They will shoot in lidocaine or marcaine or something, too, so it should help right away, before it aches for a while and then the benefits kick in. I called the neuro department, and was told that it's still under review. I called my insurance, and found out that the nurse from the neuro dept. called them today, so I should be getting a call to schedule soon.

My question is, taking into consideration all these medications and the fact that I can sometimes taste the lidocaine or marcaine with an in office instillation, is there any chance these medications could have contributed to the neuralgia? t imagine having another surgery and am now seeing a surgeon who is giving me weekly abdominal injections of lidocaine and marcaine, and just yesterday prescribed Nuerontin to me. The surgeon says that I have nerve damage from the surgery that nerve damage combined with the scaring in the abdomen and mesh area is what he thinks is the cause of my intolerable pain.

The only other time I have experienced any redness is from giving myself contact dermatitis in my vagina from too much aspercream with lidocaine down there. Am now just using coconut oil with lidocaine for pain and started a ssri. Saw a pain doctor who believes my pain is viral in nature-maybe shingles recurrence (which I have had in the past but not in groin area). Have you ever heard of any cases of herpes like this??

Here is what I suggest: go see an orthopedist or podiatrist. Have the physician give her a total ankle block (anesthesia block using lidocaine---marcaine will interfere with a child's growth plate and should not be given for local anesthesia). If she has pain 15 minutes after the block, she may have psychological issues. If I gave an ankle block to a child or adult, I could cut open the foot and use power tools on the bone and the person would not feel pain!

My father attend a pain clinic once a week. I know the clinic uses Marcaine in their injections, however, is it humanly possible to receive 40 injections per sitting????

The radiofrequency neurolysis is a good procedure for temporal tendonitis if that is what you have. Lidocaine/cortisone injections are equally effective. Both may need to be repeated. The big issue is why you may have temporal tendonitis---usually from clenching/bruxing associated with TMJ pain or sleep disordered breathing. Follow scottma's advice and find a qualified orofacial pain specialist and get a correct diagnosis.

s a simple procedure. Done with lidocaine in the office. In inserts pellets into the buttocks. Has anyone every heard of this procedure before? My Mom generally gets very little or very short term (a few days) of relief from an injection. They give her a mixture of Kenalog (liquid prednisone) and lidocaine, a numbing agent. It seems like as soon as the lidocaine wears off, the pain is back. Keep us posted as to how you're doing! Good luck!!

I went to my PCP yesterday and he gave me a LIDODERM, a lidocaine patch, to try and help with the pain in my neck -he thinks if that calms down so will the migraines.. theyve been everyday constantly for well over a month and a half, and no meds help.. nor do therapeutic methods i have here at home.. Has anyone here used it before? And did it help? I tried to use it last night but it wouldnt stick to my neck.

The instills not only contain lidocaine and marcaine but also solu cortef... which is a steriod. I am sure that has helped with the swelling. I do have an e-mail i sent to my dcotor as to what I need to do for sure. I also have Intestial cystitis which is why they did the instills etc. which is also what complicated things. Actually they did an epidural for surgery to help with the IC post op.too.

Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
