Avatar n tn She has no history of seizures and has been to the dentist many times before. She did say they gave her a lot of shots and 1 of the shots didn't go in right and they took it our and put it back in. She said it was very painful. An ideas as to why this might have happened. We have followed up with her pediatrician and they say she seems to be fine. She still has 1 filling left to get and frankly I am a little unsure about her having it done.
Avatar m tn Hi Cliff. You can get a prescription ointment with lidocaine and that will numb your skin. If you have not started tx yet you may be worrying more than is necessary. The shots are not painful, they give you a teeny tiny needle that is very sharp and you inject into fat so there is almost no sensation.
Avatar m tn My brother has back problems and is going to the doctor's office and now taking shots in his back. He says that he thinks that the shots have cocaine in it. Would that be possible that they would do that?
Avatar m tn However, I get phenol shots in my neck for neck pain without lidocaine, which is painful. I will probably never never know what really happened.
Avatar f tn I don't think the cream is lidocaine, although they usually do mix some lidocaine in with the serum after they draw it out of the patient's vial. You should talk to his dr about the cream. I know that patients at my allergist's office that use it (some are adults) wear plastic wrap on their arm for the 30 before the shot. I am sure that your dr will know about it.
405614 tn?1329144114 I usually started feeling relief from the shots within a few days but love the lidocaine shots, its sometimes nice to be numb but always hate it when it wears off. Hang in there Sweetie, ok? And Happy Early Birthday!!!!!
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.

Avatar f tn I went to the Emergency Room the other night, after cutting open the tip of my finger with crazy-sharp knife. Needed 3 stitches, preceded my two shots of lidocaine to numb finger. Finger is on the mend, but why am I 5 lbs heavier? This happened two days ago. My pre-injury weight is 112lbs at 5'3". have been taking a few Tylenol a day, eating what I usually do, which is very balanced and in moderation. Help!
3112530 tn?1434032033 Stretching and strengthening exercises are the mainstay of treatment and need to be performed several times in a day. Other than this anesthetics such as lidocaine, BOTOX and steroids can be injected into the muscle. However, use of lidocaine and botox has its own side effects. A mix- and match of these treatment options have to be tried. Failure to achieve pain relief can be due to obturator internus muscle injury. Do discuss this with your doctor. Take care!
Avatar n tn i recently went to the dentist they gave me two shots with epinephren in it and i had a severe attack while my heart raced uncontrolably i could not even move for at least an hour . what could this have done to my heart in the long term?
Avatar f tn i was told by my MD that i had back mice and that they were muscle spasms that harden and caused knots. he gave me shots of lidocaine which caused me to be unable to move for 3 days. im starting to wonder if they can move because honestly i have more of them all over now, when i started with 3. im 19 and my docotr said its very odd for some one at my age to have these.. so he sent me for an MIR and XRAY. it showed that i had a few flattened discs and 2 herniated discs. the xray showed nothing.

Avatar f tn I have only had one set of shots in my lower back. They only provide relief for two days and the pain was back. Now I am looking for something that will get me relief for a longer time. I have three compression fractures in my lower back from cow flipping a four wheeler over on me. I own a pecan farm/cattle ranch so I am always going and I can’t be laid up long. Will burning the nerves help?
397118 tn?1219762250 I have upper back pain too and we tried a lot before and in addition to the Norco - first we tried the cortisone shots - have you tried that? (what kind of injury go you have) The chiropracter helps - but I need to go often - 3x a week to get regular relief. Het helps mine - hot baths, heating pad and sometimes I have to lay down and hang my head and upper back off the side of the bed.
Avatar m tn I am about to start Rocephin 2gr IM q 24hrs reconstituted in Lidocaine and wonder if anyone has had any experience with 21 days of treatment? Initially my doc wanted me to have the PICC line for three weeks, however I asked that to be changed to intramuscular injections instead, as I participate in contact sports, and hence would run the risk of dislodged catheter. My doc's treatment plan is for neuro-lyme. Can anyone share their experience in side effects, improvment, treatment outcome?

Avatar f tn m uncertain if I should get them taken care of while pregnant. How many shots of lidocaine did your dentist use? Did the dentist mention anything about the safety of the baby while numb?
Avatar m tn Could any of these in conjunction with the lidocaine that was mixed with the cortizone be causing this and this is just a temporary condition?
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar m tn In spite of two hefty shots of lidocaine, this was quite painful. I left feeling pretty good, but after a short time, and following lunch, the pain is pretty intense. Swallowing is very painful, and there is a constant ache deep in my throat. I assume this is probably normal. Post FNA instructions did not restrict food or drink. I must admit I was surprised at the force the doctor needed to get the samples. Anyway, I'm just wondering if this was painful for anybody else?
