Avatar m tn Also, the lidocaine was with nystatin as a swish and swallow to treat oral thrush after several courses of antibiotics. Not sure if that matters or not.
Avatar n tn There is absolutely, 100% NO WAY the Lidocaine effect lasted 3 weeks. Zero. Zilch. Nada, as they say. Lidocaine is very short acting...and would be completely out of your system within hours, not weeks. Whether or not it triggered the initial round of PVC's, I can't say, but it DEFINATELY did not make them last 3 weeks. I doubt you will believe me. PVC's are a very common and annoying problem...seems just about anything and everything can set them off, including anxiety.
Avatar n tn Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
Avatar f tn My orbital itself is what hurts and I do not have vision loss. We have tried injections of lidocaine, steroids, steroid drops, oral steriods, indocin, and gabapentin; none of which have helped. The pain is NOT a migraine. I am NOT having sinus issues or The doctor I am currently seeing is at Barnes Jewish Hospital's Center for Advanced Medicine. We are quickly running out of options and doctors in the St. Louis area and the doctors are at a loss.
Avatar n tn I am not sure what they are but I think you should see an oral surgeon for a definitive diagnosis and more appropriate medication.
Avatar m tn I went to dentist , and he referred to to an oral surgeon right away. Oral surgeon said it was a pigment that had developed from tx. I would check it out so you can treat it asap.
Avatar n tn Rubber dam application will definitely prevent anything falling down to oral cavity. Local anesthetic solution without epinephrine exerts no effect on heart beat. Lidocaine has never been reported causing anaphylactic shock. However, the preservative substance containing sulfide compound may cause allergic reaction. For those who are allergic to preservative substance, a special request to manufacturer of local anesthetics to supply anesthetics without preservatives may be necessary.

Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone! I went to oral surgeon this morning regarding the extraction of my 19th tooth.(left lower molar). I had root canal and crown done 2 years ago on that tooth, and it got infected due to tooth breaking under the crown(no idea how) To make long story short, this oral surgeon offered me 2 options. 1. General anesthesia Versed/Propofol 2. Local-Nitrous oxide. I'm really not comfortable with either one. I think it will make me paranoid and I will freak out there.
383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
Avatar f tn last night it acted up worse than ever, it lasted for close to 12 hours, and the only thing that soothed the pain is when i went to the emergency room and that gave me oral lidocaine, which worked for about a half hour. i am so tird of dealing with this. the doctors looked for ulcers and said they couldnt find anything. so pretty much im left with no answers and a very sore stomach. please help!
306455 tn?1288862071 lotsatrout...good idea...you ought to get a patent....lidocaine suit...i like that!!! ...My educated guess says it is not addictive!!!...and we know where my educated guesses have gotten me before!!!
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
Avatar f tn Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
Avatar f tn s only 2 things I know that cause this frequently while on hep c treatment...An oral fungal infection (like thrush) or a folic acid/ B-12 deficiency...Is your tongue bright red or have a whitish coating? Are you anemic? If it's fungal in origin, a simple mouth swish of a mixture of a children's thrush syrup, lidocaine, and Maalox (or just get a prescription of "Magic Mouthwash") and supplying a source of acidophilous (yogurt, capsules, etc) daily to your body...
673999 tn?1226935279 The new standard inoffice bladder instillation for IC is Lidocaine instillation with bicarbonate solution. The lidocaine is a local anesthetic and the bicarbonate allows the lidocaine to penetrate the bladder wall to get to the bladder nerves. Lidocaine without the bicarbonate solution has only minimal bladder wall penetration and very short duration of action (minutes to an hour).
1654058 tn?1407159066 It’s compounded by the local pharmacy and can contain various proportions of Maalox, benadryl, lidocaine and Nystatin. It’s a swish ‘n swallow that is used several times a day and numbs on contact so at least you might be able to eat meals without too much pain. It’s often prescribed to cancer chemo patients; most doctors are at least vaguely familiar with it.
Avatar n tn The discomfort can be relieved by using 5% lidocaine transdermal patches, available by prescription. Use fior no more than twelve hours at a time. The lidocaine migrates and reduces ventricular sensitivity and very ocasionally cardiac problems, so talk with your doctor. What troubles me is the fact these are pressure related issues and some way should be devised to reduce the pressure on your skin. One way is to sit on an inflatable pad. Another is to sit on bubble wrap.
Avatar n tn t have a headache. I understand that there is a test or treatment involving lidocaine dripped directly on the sphenopalatine nerve. How do I get to the right specialist. More importantly, do my symptoms sound like this syndrome. I plan to explore this more with my doctor which is 12 days away.
14051 tn?1238251732 I have had 2 sympathetic blocks in the past, but no real relief. My surgeon gave me Lidocaine injections, on 2 different occasions, in my back, where the rod was on the right side to see if I had infection or the rods were the issue. The Lidocaine was a godsend!!!!
Avatar n tn My first ultra sound FNA was a done by a Radiologist. I felt the 1st stick of lidocaine. I didn't feel the other needle sticks, but felt lots of pressure. The Radiologist seemed to have lots of problems getting the needle into the nodule even though it was ultra sound guided. He poked around in me for about 25 minutes before getting a sample. I was scared to death and could feel the needle inside my throat every time I swallowed. Two days later, I was told the sample was not adequate.
